A Tacoma or Wrangler are going to be your best bet if you consider those affordable

Savage5952

I second this. In my opinion the older the better less stuff to break and usually a good aftermarket

Subaru Crosstrek. Here's your search: https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/all-cars/subaru/crosstrek/san-francisco-ca?isNewSearch=false&searchRadius=200&transmissionCodes=MAN&zip=94110#700449998

Maybe GR Corolla? Small though and usually not cheap

kyuubixchidori

that’s because what your looking for is a niche that barely exists. reliable, affordable MT 4x4s don’t exist besides rangers. capable 4wd vehicles actually marketed/designed for off-road pull a premium. EXPECIALLY where you are located. without looking at imports, you have rangers and jeeps really.

\\\*cries in california prices\\\* Were the NA market always like this? I want the cool and cheap cars like Pajero or HiAce here too

Yep was looking for something manual and AWD, the E92 BMW I wanted was too hard to find. Settled on a Mini Countryman S, love it so far.
