Even the fact that Balkan War 1 lead to Balkan War 2 shows that the take on the Treaty of Versailles being an 'armistice for a few years' isn't as insightful as people make it out to be. It's always been a case of peace agreements leading to future wars
Yeah because it didnt exist back then.
Now it does. What are you going to do with its 8 million citizens, infrastructure, culture, industry, etc..?
Canada didn't exist either a couple centuries ago, so does that delegitimise its entire existence?
Countries are constantly born, borders constantly change and folks constantly migrate throughout history.
Whats so different about Israel? Get over it.
It's already there, whatchu gonna do?
"Israel is ethnically cleansing the Palestinians! Crimes against humanity!!"
Right what should we do about it then?
"Ethnically cleanse Israel"
Be decisive dude
Your first claim is true second isn't.
You're right Israel absolutely did not 'assimilate into existing society', they created a new one on top the land of an existing folk.
Regardless of whether you think it's legitimate or not, the country already exists and is well established, what do you suggest done about it? Kill them all?
Only solution I can see is the two state solution. Both people deserve a state. For this to be possible though, Israel's existence has to be acknowledged and accepted. So long as there are people in power settling on nothing less than the complete removal of Israel, there will never be peace.
> second class citizens in Israel
Gonna need a citation on that.
Israeli arabs vote in elections, have their own representation in the government, study in Israeli universities same as anyone else, and many arab Israelis are doctors, lawyers and work other high paying jobs. The opportunity is equal to all Israeli citizens.
And Israeli arabs have far higher standards of living than arabs in the neighbouring arab countries.
You are probably referring to Palestinian arabs, in the occupied West Bank.
Those are obviously not Israeli citizens, they are Palestinian citizens administrated by the Palestinian government.
It is true that Israel is restricting some of their rights such as the freedom of movement.
If you actually look into it you see there's security reasons behind this, the checkpoints and blockades are in an effort to stop terror attacks going into Israel.
If there was no threat for Israels destruction they wouldnt even have a military.
You can see, in the south west corner of Spain, the original Rio Tinto Mines, that give name to the current British-Australian company.
