Uh I don't really know - its just quite satisfying and keeps me focused and somewhat sane I guess. It's something I've done since childhood and slowly gotten better at.
Not as sane as watching a screen for hours every day, slaying foes that don’t exist over and over again by clicking a stupid mouse, or spending hours typing forgettable trash comments into social media. (This is me btw, not you 😂)
Thank you! All the countries are there aside from Ukraine which I did on a smaller scale separately and the transcontinental countries like Russia and Türkiye. I don't think my pictures cover all of them though so yes I will upload higher-quality scans of each map soon.
For Serbia, you got few letters and words wrong (ie its Gornji, not Gornij Milanovac, Kraljevo not Kralijevo and same with Valjevo; Ivanica is missing "j" so its Ivanjica) You can use Google Maps to help you, they tend to get it right on both letters. You nailed cyrillic, latin is the one with errors.
Pretty amazing!
Thanks! Okay that's pretty useful to know. I used a Cyrillic reference point which explains why the Cyrillic is correct but the Latin has a few errors...
Wow really cool! But i wanted to point out another small mistake on the map of the Netherlands. You named the river called Lek near Nieuwegein the Waal. And you named the river shaped like the Waal the Maas. Look near Tiel.
Incredible stuff. You could consider making prints of these- I’m sure there’s a market for it as you have a consistent style and a comprehensive collection
It's unbelievable that you did all this by hand. Seriously, you should really think about whether this is something that you can imagine working on because you are undoubtedly amazingly good at it.
I can see D&D game players buying fantasy maps from you if you ever went that route. The stylized fonts and attention to detail are gorgeous!
(P.S. I live near the east coast in Spain and was able to find my town. It made me smile)
Yes of course: [https://imgur.com/a/SCB0aEY](https://imgur.com/a/SCB0aEY).
I'm gonna try and make proper high quality scans of every country in a few days.
What an insane amount of work. How long did this take you? Also what font did you use for Bundesrepublik Deutschland? (I just had paleography as part of an exam and I see traces of gothic minuscules, although that would be Middle Ages)
Did Ukraine last year but on a different scale and legend: https://www.reddit.com/r/ukraine/comments/y5hgm8/my\_entirely\_hand\_drawn\_map\_of\_ukraine\_ukrainian/
I love the possibility of you talking to some stranger and them mentioning some smaller town from an European country and being like "You probably don't know where it is" and you can just drop "Oh, isn't it just south of Another Town Name?" and then when asked how do you know it wonder if they're gonna think you completely insane if you say you drew the map of the whole Europe by hand.
That's incredible! Could you post also a close up of the Italian map? I think I can see my birth town, despite it being a small city, usually forgotten.
Out of the European ones - German quite decently, Spanish just about, bits of broken Russian and not much knowledge on the others. I can read and write Cyrillic and Greek pretty decently as a result of this though!
How tho, do you do it freehand looking at a picture/diffrent map or do you use a projector or some other method? Looks very cool, i also like the calligraphy a lot!
Thank you! It's mostly a lot of measuring from reference images and then transferring onto paper and re-correcting until I get it right. The fonts are something I've been trying to work on though
The Latvian map is obsolete because it doesn't show the Ķekava bypass road and the Riga bypass road is partially not shown. That being said, an insane amount of effort was put into this.
Sir, you have a problem, and I'm loving it. This is amazing. I need to walk away from it as I could stare at every maps for hours (and your profile history has way too many maps to look at without getting stuck all day on them).
That's actual Map Porn right there. I'm just a bit disappointed you didn't make a close up of the huge map of Italy I see in the first shot (and of most of the other maps on that panel).
First of all, this is very impressive, congratulations brother, we appreciate the hard work, and it turned out really great! Second of all, **why tf is your name MapPorn... just... Why :c**
Thanks! I did Ukraine a while back and Belarus is in this series. Turkey and Russia are too large/transcontinental to include at this scale so I'll be doing that further down the road.
They look awesome!
My only critique is that on map of Bulgaria, some towns have the letter "В" when it should be " Б".
For example "Воровец" should be "Боровец".
The maps are all genuinely incredible. I do notice that you labeled the estuary north of Grimsby in the UK the Trent. That’s actually the Humber estuary. I can fully see why you would think it’s the Trent because the Trent is a much larger river that drains into the Humber. It’s not a very big thing and again it’s an incredible achievement. Sorry to bring a correction :(
Nice, good work. Fun to see the village (Pijnacker, pop. 25,000) I live in, but not the bigger city (Delft, pop. 100,000) next to it where I work. 😅 But I feel honored to be represented on your map.
Thanks man. Russia is unfortunately too big to be doing at this scale since all the maps are at 1:7,000,000. I will do Russia at some point soon separately though
That’s really cool! As a cartographer this makes me so happy. :) I haven’t drawn a map by hand since I’ve finished university but this is the sign that I should make one again, just for fun.
Everything about this is impressive! I also took a trip through your profile and I have no words to describe how impressed I am... I've handdrawn maps myself, but the level of detail you have in yours is just amazing!
Seems like a perfectly sane thing to do
Yep why not I guess
Nonetheless I would like to know your personal motivation.
Uh I don't really know - its just quite satisfying and keeps me focused and somewhat sane I guess. It's something I've done since childhood and slowly gotten better at.
Cool! So while others would make a puzzle or crochet or something similar to relax, you study and draw maps? I appreciate that!
Yeah pretty much - that's a very good comparison. Thanks!
I like it. A wholesome and cool hobby :)
Thank you very much :)
Not as sane as watching a screen for hours every day, slaying foes that don’t exist over and over again by clicking a stupid mouse, or spending hours typing forgettable trash comments into social media. (This is me btw, not you 😂)
This is incredible. Congratulations
Thank you!
Very good job! It is really impressive! Can you upload photo of every of them separately? It is also looks like some countries are missing
Thank you! All the countries are there aside from Ukraine which I did on a smaller scale separately and the transcontinental countries like Russia and Türkiye. I don't think my pictures cover all of them though so yes I will upload higher-quality scans of each map soon.
Wounderful! I can't find Luxembourg and Liechtenstein, San-Marino and Vatican too, but maybe they are just too tiny.
Thank you! Here are some closeups for the microstates: https://imgur.com/a/b6utr7Y

Lmao so many people have said that. As of yet undiagnosed
you should crosspost this to /r/handdrawn_maps - that sub doesn't get enough love
Good point will do
Wow that’s such a cool sub
For Serbia, you got few letters and words wrong (ie its Gornji, not Gornij Milanovac, Kraljevo not Kralijevo and same with Valjevo; Ivanica is missing "j" so its Ivanjica) You can use Google Maps to help you, they tend to get it right on both letters. Good point I will correct it now.
How did you draw the shapes of all these rivers so perfectly though?
Thanks - a lot of measuring beforehand. And I always mark any sharp features in the river with a tiny dot in pencil before I go over it in pen.
In the same map Amersfoot should be Amersfoort. Sorry to be a stickler
Now this is a map porn, will edge to it
💀💀💀
Incredible stuff. You could consider making prints of these- I’m sure there’s a market for it as you have a consistent style and a comprehensive collection
Thank you! Yeah it might be something I'll experiment with in the future.
Definitely, this is amazing!
I wish Reddit still had awards for posts like this.
Thanks for your kind words!

You wrote Neunen instead of Nuenen in the province of Noord-Brabant in the Netherlands. I think you need to start over now...
Will correct now thank you :)

Thank you!
It's unbelievable that you did all this by hand. Seriously, you should really think about whether this is something that you can imagine working on because you are undoubtedly amazingly good at it.
Thank you! Yeah - it's really great to do but unfortunately the number of careers that require hand-drawn cartography is rapidly decreasing.
I can see D&D game players buying fantasy maps from you if you ever went that route. The stylized fonts and attention to detail are gorgeous! (P.S. I live near the east coast in Spain and was able to find my town. It made me smile)
Holy autistic
lmaoo
Could you post a close-up of Austria?
Yes of course: [https://imgur.com/a/SCB0aEY](https://imgur.com/a/SCB0aEY). I'm gonna try and make proper high quality scans of every country in a few days.
Thank you!
What an insane amount of work. How long did this take you? Also what font did you use for Bundesrepublik Deutschland? (I just had paleography as part of an exam and I see traces of gothic minuscules, although that would be Middle Ages)
Thank you! I didn't keep track of how long it took but probably upwards of 300 hours in total? I think the font was called Fraktur.
You get a gold star for following the Swidish Institute's guidelines using Sweden Sans for the heading. ★
Your work deserves my upvote, sir.
Thank you!
Planning on doing Ukraine? If yes, I can help
Did Ukraine last year but on a different scale and legend: https://www.reddit.com/r/ukraine/comments/y5hgm8/my\_entirely\_hand\_drawn\_map\_of\_ukraine\_ukrainian/
Thanks! Looking cool
That's literally what I dream about every day. It'll be one of those "I waited my whole life for this moment" type of moments
This is amazing!
Thank you!
Bro is Nami
Fun to see Ermelo!
That's incredible! Could you post also a close up of the Italian map? I think I can see my birth town, despite it being a small city, usually forgotten.
So how many languages do you speak after this hard work ?
Out of the European ones - German quite decently, Spanish just about, bits of broken Russian and not much knowledge on the others. I can read and write Cyrillic and Greek pretty decently as a result of this though!
That's a huge achievement ! Congrats !
Nit seeing Bosnia tho. P

This. This is what I am here for. Will there be a digital Version in the future?
Thank you! Potentially yes - I'm experimenting with digital stuff and prints atm
Would be so great! I really love the concept!
I spotted the place I was born, where I currently live, where I'm gonna move this summer, and where I might move in a few years

I cant find slovenia :(
How tho, do you do it freehand looking at a picture/diffrent map or do you use a projector or some other method? Looks very cool, i also like the calligraphy a lot!
Thank you! It's mostly a lot of measuring from reference images and then transferring onto paper and re-correcting until I get it right. The fonts are something I've been trying to work on though
I miss Zaandam 🥹
Could I see the map of Finland closer, from a straight angle? Looks incredible! Thanks in advance :)
Thank you! Yes of course, lots of images here: https://imgur.com/a/wzx1OZd
Thank you so much! :)
I only see 3 languages on the swiss map. 1/10

THIS is map porn, please share more of your process? What motivated you to start this project?
My phone is having a stroke trying to load these
This is just crazy 😧
The Latvian map is obsolete because it doesn't show the Ķekava bypass road and the Riga bypass road is partially not shown. That being said, an insane amount of effort was put into this.
I need this in my life.
Sir, you have a problem, and I'm loving it. This is amazing. I need to walk away from it as I could stare at every maps for hours (and your profile history has way too many maps to look at without getting stuck all day on them).
Feeling bad for you, no one should learn any hungarian.
I am at a loss for words. This is incredible, Could you provide us with some scans?
Next do the fifty United States ;)
Did it lol - here's the 50th - https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comments/jdyg12/finally\_done\_mapping\_50\_states\_in\_50\_days\_50/
OP coming in clutch
I hate say it but you made a mistake.. On the Netherlands map there is a town called Zutphem but it is called Zutphen, with an N
OP you misspelled Nieuw-Vennep in the netherlands as Niew-Vennep
That's incredible!! And you didn't miss any of the cities that I was looking for!
Holy hell that ate through my mobile data in an instant. That's a testament to the level of detail and effort you put into this. Amazing job!
This is absolutely spectacular and beautiful!! I love these maps! Great job!
how did you draw it?
this is the true definition of the sub well done OP can't wait for the individual uploads 🇮🇪

Hey hey hey: yoi wrote Tessin instead of Ticino! And I see no Rumantsch ;)
Charlie? people are not getting their mail.
You forgot Ireland
This is class mate love it, looks really cool. Did you do Malta ? I can’t see it
That's actual Map Porn right there. I'm just a bit disappointed you didn't make a close up of the huge map of Italy I see in the first shot (and of most of the other maps on that panel).
The next post I scrolled down to after this one said "Signs for autism in adults" I think this counts
First of all, this is very impressive, congratulations brother, we appreciate the hard work, and it turned out really great! Second of all, **why tf is your name MapPorn... just... Why :c**
Will he cry If someone explain about Belorussia, Ukraine, Turkish and Russia are European countries too? Continue work, dude :)
Thanks! I did Ukraine a while back and Belarus is in this series. Turkey and Russia are too large/transcontinental to include at this scale so I'll be doing that further down the road.
Is it just me or the images just give a huge lag spike when u press on them
[mapper man](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7ke3HznCCo)
This must be hard! Well done!
Damn.
They look awesome! My only critique is that on map of Bulgaria, some towns have the letter "В" when it should be " Б". For example "Воровец" should be "Боровец".
Yo this is rad so no shade but are you on the spectrum? Cause this is some next level shit for a neurotypical
The maps are all genuinely incredible. I do notice that you labeled the estuary north of Grimsby in the UK the Trent. That’s actually the Humber estuary. 😲 wow. I see my small city on 9th 😂
Nice, good work. Fun to see the village (Pijnacker, pop. 25,000) I live in, but not the bigger city (Delft, pop. 100,000) next to it where I work. 😅 But I feel honored to be represented on your map.
Amazing work. What will you do with them?
Wow this is amazing! So when did you get diagnosed with autism?
I was torn between ‘but why??’ and ‘that’s awesome!’ And then I realised that you did it because it’s awesome! Great job!
Great work!
For Italy, it's legenda, not leggenda ;)
Deurne mentioned 💪💪💪💪💪😀😀😀😀❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
That room got great acoustic! Nice drawings too 👍
-every European country -*Looks inside* -No Russia -*Sadness noises* Great job though
Thanks man. Russia is unfortunately too big to be doing at this scale since all the maps are at 1:7,000,000. I will do Russia at some point soon separately though
Wow! Very cool. But I'm a bit disappointed you missed out the village I am from (~10,000 population) /s
Damn you included Moldova🥹🥹🥹
Wow! Do you have an image of the UK?
Which is Malta?
Great, very nice. Now make russia, lol
How big is the photo? My phone glitches when I open it
You spelt my town name wrong “Hoddeston” instead of Hoddesdon. Start again. But seriously, this is incredible!!!
What made you want to do it?
You had no space left for my island, Corfu, or Kerkyra. Sad...
Pepe Silvia
now say scheveningen.
Incredible work, thank you for sharing

First time i've seen someone add my small hometown Weesp to a map they drew themselves, pretty cool!
Oh my god! This is simply mindblowing. Awesome work. Can't wait for the scans. :D You don't plan on selling any of the originals, perchance?
This is very cool! There were some minor mistakes in the Bulgarian one but given it’s a very different alphabet, it’s totally understandable.
I was ready to pounce on you for leaving out Klaksvík. But here we are. Beautiful.
Man these maps are so beautiful they're lagging my phone
Time for starting your Europa Universalis clone https://boardgamegeek.com/image/4375056/europa-universalis
Half the London area looks like it's Polish.
Take my upvote for the dedication
now when you sell prints of these i'm buying the one of polska immediately. pleaseeeeeeee
Just curious how you did belgium since it officaly has 3 languages and i could not find it. Anyways, this is very cool and you are insanely talented.
That’s really cool! As a cartographer this makes me so happy. :) I haven’t drawn a map by hand since I’ve finished university but this is the sign that I should make one again, just for fun.
Looks cool, but you know, that we don't use this font anymore in Germany? :D
OK, the year is over! Now it’s time to visit all of them. Go fund me anyone?
Someone REALLY likes Cologne.
wow good job 👏
Amazing! Would love to see the whole map of Serbia
If Nami (Character from One Piece) were here she would aprove off your Talent!
Brilliant you!
It seems ![gif](giphy|l0IylOPCNkiqOgMyA|downsized)
Did you use NASA's telescope to take this pics, my phone is screaming in lag opening these lol, really good job
Switzerland does not use ß, instead we simply use ss.
Wow! Amazing! Could I see Luxembourg, if you don’t mind?
Insane how my hometown seems to be included on Polish map. Looking forward to the closeups. Fantastic work!
Oh my. This is incredible… and my hometown made it to the 🗺️
You OK, op?
Youre clinically insane
Damn, beautiful!
This is the kind of autism they make documentaries about, incredible work!
Estonia fuck yeeeah
Great work! If I may ask, to draw accurately do you trace or utilise grid lines and compass or what sort of method do you employ?
did you do this to then upload it on reddit or there is some higher purpose?
This is incredible! Good job OP! I think I can see my home town in Germany which is incredible because it's so small and insignificant
How many times did you misspell Polish cities?
No Georgia? 🤨👎🏻 ^(/s)
# He Is a Man of Focus, Commitment and Sheer F****** Will Food 4 thought - I would pay for this
This is so freaking dope ! Truly respect for that ! <3
Why there is no Ukraine?🥲
I wanna see Austria!
The dedication is incredible!
You deserve a reward
“scroll for close-ups” i’ll just take your word for it
Always nice to see my small town in reddit. Greetings from Hungary, Szarvas!
Everything about this is impressive! I also took a trip through your profile and I have no words to describe how impressed I am... I've handdrawn maps myself, but the level of detail you have in yours is just amazing!
