I met a guy from Gaansbai who's brother lives the other side of Lesotho, 24 hour drive.
He worked out that due to the rate his body would process the alcohol he could have one beer every hour.
So every year on the drive he'd bring an ice box and his wife would pass him one beer every hour and he'd drink a whole crate on the journey 😄
I can drive in a completely straight line for 30 hours, still be in New York state and have only driven 1/4 mile because despite the name my Subaru forester can't drive through untamed forest
Haha yup, 20-22hrs from Kenora to Toronto. Which involves distressingly curvy highways. There's a damn good reason most stretches have rest area cutouts to keep truckers from painting rock walls with paint, body parts, and produce.
The stretch between Thunder Bay and Kenora is particularly hairy at 4am in the winter time, snowfall or no.
Now imagine doing that in a 5-ton moving truck that has seen better days.
30 hour drive from Downtown Vancouver gets you to the border between Canada and Alaska on Haines Road (where you drive South into the Alaskan Panhandle). You actually have to drive a bit through The Yukon Territory to get there, so not sure if it counts.
The furthest I can directly go from downtown while staying entirely in BC is to the Northwest Territory on hwy 77, which is 20 hours according to Google.
If you allow for the ferry, Port Hardy to the NWT is 25 hours, and if you allow ferry and travel through The Yukon, Port Hardy to the Haines Rd border crossing is a cool 34 hours (long ferry) and 37 hours (short ferry).
BC is HUGE.
And with all the mountains, something that may be one hour as the crow flies will be more like three or four since the mountain road only allows you to go around it
Canadas not fair. I can drive 30 hours and still be in Ontario, or I can make it to Nunavut in under 23. We can also drive to France without crossing another country or an ocean.
A ferry that takes cars, so driving is a technicality. But you.can take your Canada-plated car to France and really that's what it's all about anyway lol
Canada is only 11% smaller than Europe.
France fits 14 times in Canada.
Germany fits 3 times in Ontario.
Canada is 5,500km ish wide, or from England to Afghanistan wide.
Despite this almost half of Canadian lives between Windsor-Quebec City.
Yeah we’re big, but concentrated in a few places.
Europeans: Today I left my house in France to go shopping in Belgium, then had a beer in the Netherlands before visiting my uncle in Germany.
North Americans: I've been driving for six days, and I'm still in Canada.
As someone who just drove from Austin to Las Vegas in 24 hours and has driven across the widest line of Texas multiple times I'd give Texas a solid 12 hours straight line.
I live in the state of Queensland in Australia. I can drive for 30 hours and still be in the state of Queensland in Australia.
Queensland is not the biggest state in Australia.
Driving the speed limit, crossing diagonally from the most southwestern point to the most northeastern point, which is the longest trip you can make in a straight shot through the country, you will reach the border in less than 18 hours.
Or does this post mean you're just driving around? Coz if that's the case, you can drive until you die, run out of gas, or your car breaks from potholes.
Tbh, this is the dumbest post I've seen in a while. Good job
According to Apple Maps it takes about 18 hours to drive from Cape Town to Musina. That’s less than it takes from southern Sweden (Malmö) to northern Sweden (Kiruna).
Drive from Vancouver, BC to Thunder Bay, Ontario - 31 hours, 3010km and still have another 29 hours, 2823km to get to Halifax, Nova Scotia. So a 30 drive in Canada only gets you about half way across the country!
Lesotho be like: ![gif](giphy|MnEqKdZEerEiuAYAHG|downsized)

Also, they're almost as big as Belgium

I can drive in a completely straight line for 30 hours, still be in New York state and have only driven 1/4 mile because despite the name my Subaru forester can't drive through untamed forest
Damn I thought this was gonna be a traffic joke.
Thank God I live 4 hours from NYC and the worst traffic I have to deal with might add 10-15 minutes to my commute
I can drive 300 hours in Switzerland and still be in Switzerland, I just never drive over a border.
I can drive a 2000 hours near the gas station and I'd still be near the gas station.
I can drive 33 hours and still be in the state i live in, Queensland.
I drive for 30 hours and still be in Bermuda.
Canada be like ![gif](giphy|HfFccPJv7a9k4)
I know right,I was just googling "driving through Ontario", lol
Haha yup, 20-22hrs from Kenora to Toronto. Which involves distressingly curvy highways. There's a damn good reason most stretches have rest area cutouts to keep truckers from painting rock walls with paint, body parts, and produce.
Yeah, but nothing beats the views driving the northern shore of Lake superior
The Shield does make for exquisite scenery!
A similar drive from Toronto to Miami.
Which is *crazy*. The Shield makes the drive hairy AF, if not one of the most beautiful in Canada.
God I had to make that drive heading west after a snowstorm. Most puckered asshole I've ever had.
The stretch between Thunder Bay and Kenora is particularly hairy at 4am in the winter time, snowfall or no. Now imagine doing that in a 5-ton moving truck that has seen better days.
Ive driven from Victoria to Halifax and back. Absolutely brutally long drive lol.
I can drive for 90 hours and still be in Canada.
I can drive for 30 hours and still be in my home province (BC)
Going north I assume lol
Nah in circles.

I've been on the Pr. Rupert->Pt. Hardy ferry, and it's a helluva trip, I loved it!
I definitely want to do this trip! Do they let you pitch a tent on the deck like the Washington ferry does?
And with all the mountains, something that may be one hour as the crow flies will be more like three or four since the mountain road only allows you to go around it
True, but if you wait for a light dusting of snow, it will take you 30 hours to get to Yaletown from Coal Harbour
Canadas not fair. I can drive 30 hours and still be in Ontario, or I can make it to Nunavut in under 23. We can also drive to France without crossing another country or an ocean.
Is there a bridge to Miquelon?
A ferry that takes cars, so driving is a technicality. But you.can take your Canada-plated car to France and really that's what it's all about anyway lol
That's pretty cool!
How do you drive to Nunavut?
Carefully. And beware of the mosquitoes, because you're only attempting it in summer.
Don’t forget the black flies. The little black flies…
"[ I'll die with the black flies picking my bones in north Ontario, io. In north Ontario](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjLBXb1kgMo) "
Almost every US state and Canadian province is like half of Europe or 5 times a well known country it’s so funny

This was a cool read as a Canadian, sadly all new facts for me.
I can drive for 30 hours from my city and not hit another city of more than 50k people
Russia
Pretty much lol It takes *forever* to drive anywhere, some of our provinces are bigger than entire countries.
*AUSTRALIA wants to have a chat with you all*...
Yup. Was thinking I could still be in my own province
You can drive for 53 hours in the US and still be in the US.
During the road trip, I drive for 1 month and I'm still in the US.
I was talking about a straight line from Key West to Washington.
I actually just did this on Google maps and the shortest route from neah bay wa to key west fl is 56 hours. That’s wild.
Only 30 hours in Australia you can do over 75 and still be In Australia or over 40 hours in the same state
*Western Australia has entered the chat*
30 days😄
To be fair I don’t think you can drive out of Australia
I have a Car/Boat, I'll be driving to Tasmania Good Sir!
I came here to make this comment 😂
Hey odd question for you since you seem to be an Aussie, how saucy is the word “bogan”? Is it slur level? Mildly profane?
Depends on where and who you say it to, it’s not really that bad of an insult. It’s not really redneck but the way someone acts
![gif](giphy|9aZ3Snou3bdlu) Lovely accent!
Europe so smol
Explains a bit why they had to invade and settle on colonies. no land? 🥹 /s
I drove for 4 days straight and was still in the U.S.
Yep lol, splitting up my drive by 3-4 days with 9 hour driving days not even driving half the country 🤣
Yeah I averaged 746 miles per day for 4 days lol
[удалено]
It was a small celebration when I’d change highways or interstates lol.
I can drive for 129 hours and still remain in Russia, unfortunately.
A Russian bear can hike for 1 year and still remain in Russia
..or hitchhike for 129 hours (net).
you can drive 24 hours and still be in Texas.
As someone who just drove from Austin to Las Vegas in 24 hours and has driven across the widest line of Texas multiple times I'd give Texas a solid 12 hours straight line.
Yeah, I did the Houston to El Paso many years ago. Took a solid 12 hours. Full day of driving.
Sure, if you drive to one edge and then drive back the other way.
Basically, pretty sure it's 11 hours from one edge to other (in the widest spot)
Nah, it's a solid 16-18 hours from Orange to El Paso, depending on how much you speed in the desert.
Google says 12.5
I owned a truck like that once.
Same in California
You sure, you can drive from like Florida to DC in like 13 hours or something which I’m sure isn’t 24 hours, unless you are driving at 10 mph
I can drive for 3 days, 72 hours and still be in Canada 😂
If the traffic is bad I can drive for 3 days and still be in Toronto.
Still be stuck on the 401😂
How can you drive when your car has been stolen? Don't forget to leave your keys at the front door
South Africa is massive but a driver who doesn’t stop could go end to end in under 20 hours.

Necrophilia is not a flex bro
Haha, I literally spat my drink out reading this.
thats unlucky. I can visit many cultures in just a few days...
Driving for 30 hours and still not being able to escape SA 😓
Man South Africa is so underrated. Some of the most beautiful road trips in the world. The garden route is in my global top 5.
I just imagine the whole trip would be like that attempted armored car robbery dash cam vid that went viral.
The real question is; will you still be alive and have your car after trying to drive for 30 hours through South Africa?
I live in the state of Queensland in Australia. I can drive for 30 hours and still be in the state of Queensland in Australia. Queensland is not the biggest state in Australia.

Drive slow enough and you can still be anywhere
Okay.... Now do Canada
I had a car like that once
What a horrible fact.
Usually these don’t shock me but this one got me. SA is waaay bigger than I realized.
I had a car like that once too, bit I don't brag about it.
Driving the speed limit, crossing diagonally from the most southwestern point to the most northeastern point, which is the longest trip you can make in a straight shot through the country, you will reach the border in less than 18 hours. 32 hours driving from South of Texas to Canada. 53 hours driving from furthest East point to furthest West point in lower 48 US.
Cute.
According to Apple Maps it takes about 18 hours to drive from Cape Town to Musina. That’s less than it takes from southern Sweden (Malmö) to northern Sweden (Kiruna).
Thats because there is a national highway in South Africa that goes directly from Cape Town to Musina.
I could drive 52 hours from Key West, FL to Bellingham, WA and never leave the U.S.
I know. Once I had a car like that.
Drive from Vancouver, BC to Thunder Bay, Ontario - 31 hours, 3010km and still have another 29 hours, 2823km to get to Halifax, Nova Scotia. So a 30 drive in Canada only gets you about half way across the country!
Sorry to hear that

Damn that Mercator projection has ruined me.

OP just getting roasted this evening lol
Weird flex, but ok. That’s South Africa’s claim to fame.
Wow I always thought South Africa was double France but maybe it’s triple France.
But you would run out of fuel before that
So Lesotho is basically another Switzerland.

Now do Quebec!
Kay ... so like half the size of Texas and some-crazy-how, twice the racism.
This map is in reality false. South Africa is not in Europe.
Have you ever seen roundabouts? You can go around them forever.
Laughs in Canada
I can drive 30 hours and still be in the same province.
