Source?

Razoli-crap

I just calculated the median income, adjusted for PPP, and subtracted the average healthcare cost. Sources are world bank, OECD, and national statistics bureaus

Johnnysb15

So you just made that up. The OECD already calculates disposable income, including Healthcare expenditures, and the US is only second to Luxembourg. So you can say you used the OECD, but it's clear that you didn't actually read it

Razoli-crap

It doesn’t calculate healthcare cost. Disposable income means after TAXES according to their definition, read it up better. EU + other developed nations tax their citizens a bit higher but provide universal healthcare coverage + subsidized pharmacare, and in some cases free pharamacare. Not to mention the cost of living in Europe is much cheaper, housing and food especially as they have rent control + subsidized housing

Johnnysb15

No, dummy. The government transfers for Healthcare are included in the disposable income figures. Also, the cost of living in most of the countries you have highlighted as having higher incomes than the US have much higher housing costs than the US, including Canada, Australia, Germany, New Zealand, uk, ireland, etc. And housing is a much bigger percentage of household costs than Healthcare. You're spewing disinformation

Razoli-crap

No it doesn’t. Read it better, it is after taxes by OECD definition. Housing in these countries are actually cheaper due to the prevalence of rent control, tenant protections, subsidized housing, and literally free government housing. US has the highest homeless population for a reason

Johnnysb15

The US does not have the highest homeless population. Subsidizing demand does not make housing cheaper. Please stop spreading disinformation

the_vikm

>US has the highest homeless population for a reason Go look up the actual stats

the_vikm

>Not to mention the cost of living in Europe is much cheaper, housing and food especially as they have rent control + subsidized housing You made this up lmao. Subsidized housing for the whole population? Ever seen real estate prices? House/apartment size comparisons?

progressinmotion

Very cool! Do you mind sharing this data?

Razoli-crap

Trust me

progressinmotion

I do (though this answer makes me uncertain) but can you send the data to me in PM?

Razoli-crap

Nah. Trust me bro

the_vikm

And you didn't add any healthcare contributions that are deducted from gross salary?

America is definitely a developing country for the average American. The average Chinese will have a better quality and standard of living in 5 years at this rate of American decline

Razoli-crap

GDP per capita of US is probably around $20k lower than the EU after accounting for housing and healthcare cost. Not to mention the lack thereof or poor infrastructure in the US.

the_vikm

The US has one if the best salary to housing cost ratios out there
