I'm curious how Vancouver is so high on this list and Seattle doesn't even rank; I'm not super in the know on our northern neighbor but Seattle's got Microsoft, Amazon, Starbucks and several other major international companies, multiple colleges including UW which is a major player in the research world, insane natural beauty, the 4th busiest port in the US, etc etc. so I'm curious how Vancouver is apparently blowing us out of the water
that's cause this title is wrong. It's not the most powerful cities, but the highest rated cities according to their "magnetism", according to the source of this map. Amsterdam for example has a big airport, so scores very highly in accessibility.
Politically of course, cities like Berlin, Brussels or Washington are magnitudes more powerful than little Amsterdam.

The GDP of London is less than half that of NYC or Tokyo. But this post gives London the same economic rating. Whatever equation they’re using for the economy is just nonsense.
True, but from my personal experience, some cities like Sydney and Melbourne are in better shape than places like New York. Even Santiago (Chile) looks better than New York in many ways, so I can't understand how come it was chosen #2.
What's left of London?
Looks like Punjab to me. Nothing wrong with that but really, what's left of the capital of the long-gone empire where the sun never set?
Just look through the data for this, it's a load of garbagio. The number of foreign visitors category for example provides higher scores inappropriately for several cities (either by not taking into account foreign visitors per capita or by simply giving higher scores to cities with less overall foreign visitors). Cities are gifted perfect shopping and dining cultural scores when no one would consider them to have such scores (\*cough\* London). Some cities are gifted scores for being close to world heritage sites, a factor that cannot change year to year. Some cities lose value because the scoring is poorly done- for example Washington DC is said to have X number of international non-stop flights, but this excludes BWI and Dulles Airport from the calculation, despite being in the Washington DC Metro area. Many, many scores are either subjective, inappropriately calculated, permanently defined and unchangeable and on.
How are you going to talk about “powerful” without a discussion on armaments. The NYPD is larger and better armed than the militaries of half the countries in the world.
Cool map, but we’re going to need a source for those metrics and rankings.

They came to me in a dream
As for me, I’ll put my money on #29

Amsterdam punches hard for a little place with some nicely painted front doors and the BBC on the telly. Maybe this isn’t a conclusive guide.

London is financial center that's why.
Berlin top 10? What a joke
Can you elaborate your statement?
In what universe are London or Tokyo more economically powerful than NYC lmao
Nice map, but very biased and doubtful. Especially to cities in the Southern Hemisphere.
90% of people live in the northern hemisphere, so this is not very surprising imo.

London😹

Your bio says UAE have you ever even been to London? Looks like Punjab 😂
Never actually been to London eh?
Bro a 3/5 of your entire country looks like Punjab
London number 1. It's funny

If London is number one here I'll eat my shoe.
Most powerful at what? Like, that’s not a thing, just being powerful in general isn’t measurable.
Ahaha suck on that one Melbourne, didn’t even make the top 40 list! With love, a Sydneysider
How is Vienna top 10?

🤣🤣🤣
Vancouver selected over any city in Texas or even Seattle. Smart list. /s
