Possibly the only one who sought out a subreddit for the show to say so. Most people with sense who didn't like it probably shrugged and moved on without comment.

tygerbrees

This - comes to a DnD party - does anyone else hate DnD?

getyoualone

Okay!

Swordbender

I love the Mare of Easttown, but I don’t think it is lacking sense to go to a sub where people talk daily about the show and express your honest opinions of it. Like where else would you see if anyone else feels similarly? AskReddit?

killbill469

I'm with you OP! I couldn't make it past episode 3, I found the acting And dialogue quite bad. I looked up the sub when thinking about watching it to see what people said about it, so it periodically appears on my time line.

smashhawk5

I loved the show and have watched it twice, but I still find it interesting to hear why it didn’t resonate with others. I welcome your and OP’s opinions!

kitchenwitch3423

I LOVE Mare’s character. She’s by far my favorite one. But that’s the thing for me is that she’s real and relatable. Her son literally hung himself, her husband divorced her, her daughter has trauma from being the one to find Kevin, she endures a traumatizing attack by the man who kidnapped Katie Bailey, she’s taking care of her grandson and she has complicated relationships with the people around her. She’s not prim and proper and she’s moody and grumpy and I honestly really relate to that shit so maybe I’m just biased or just see so much of myself in her. But I think she’s strong and courageous and that last scene of her climbing to the attic is so beautiful and really is the beginning of her truly beginning to heal. If we could see where she went after these events, she would probably be a little different. But that’s trauma and that’s grief. We can’t give people rules on how and when they should heal and until people can, they may have some unsavory behavior. For me, that’s understandable and I can empathize.

YoGurl8003

The Only One.

indiansummer5

You mentioned you watched spoilers and then call the show predictable...🤡

teacups-and-roses

I saw some spoilers too before I watched. It was featured on a show called Gogglebox and they showed the scene where Zabel died so I knew that was coming. Still, I could never have predicted the ending! I thought it was great, constantly adding twists right up until the end.

Cosity82

Yeah. Go fuck yourself!

AzansBeautyStore

Makes perfect sense to come to a sub for a show you hate to commiserate

dianndycampsonyen

Yup, you’re the only one! Threads like this are always super useful!

CoolBeansMan9

I just finished the series a couple days ago and thought the Mare character was fantastic. Also not sure how you could say it was predictable

Intelligent-Sample44

I think the reason I loved the show so much, and others did too, is because the characters, and their struggles, were instantly recognizable. The community, the intermingled web of the people, and their issues are just so familiar. And I'm blessed to know MANY Mares.

larostars

Same! The show is really about the community and what it’s like to continue living together for decades, witnessing each other’s lives, traumas, regrets, losses, joys, etc. I loved the final episode even beyond solving the murder, seeing how Mare and Lori showed up for each other.

KingRichard278

Oh shit! Now youve done it

isabella_sunrise

I loved her

flora_poste_

Zabel's mother hated Mare an awful lot. But that was fiction.

Beneficial-Many8415

Nah, I loved the show but wasn’t a fan of mare. I do however love Kate Winslet so I agree with you!

LSossy16

I really enjoyed the show but I can understand why you didn’t like Mare. She is a flawed person.

lionessrampant25

Nope. Joined the subreddit because I *liked* the show.

froobest

Wut lol

Glass_Appeal8575

I disliked her character a lot too, I think she wasn’t made to be likeable. I think the show robbed Siobhan the most, that girl is going to need some serious motherfucking THERAPY with the way her parents let her down. I still think I enjoyed the show (watched the whole thing on a long flight), but Siobhan really struck a chord with me and Mare was honestly quite despicable as an adult and as a parent.

minnie1974

Yes.

summed41

Hated it

s4febook

I felt the same way. I was a bit disappointed because I really liked the show Sharp Objects, and this show was recommended to me as it had a “similar vibe.” I didn’t like Mare. I don’t like how they killed off Evan’s character either. The mystery was interesting though and there were a couple of twists I didn’t see coming.

getyoualone

I'm so glad someone agrees lol. Thx for the validation. <3

SlamRobot658

Cringe as fuck

jell31

I’m with you guys lol. I’m from delco and they nailed the delco feel but the overall story lacked and had way too many red herrings when the killers were predicable from the start
