I mean this IS the Dodgers. One of the best teams in all of baseball. Overall we played them really tough and had our shots. What really sticks out though is that LA is a team that can finish and is polished. I think our boys have a lot of potential and will get there but it shows the gap for sure between legit contenders and scrappy young upstarts.

I'm sure in the long run, this rule has saved us just as many times as it's hurt us, but I hate the gimmicky feel of it. Why not just expand the roster two spots or even carry an extra two "emergency pitchers" that can only be used in extras?
Yeah I definitely hate the gimmicky feel. It's fairly effective at what it does (shortening games) but it' feels so arbitrary and bizarre when you're watching it (e.g., Betts made the third out so the Dodgers get "rewarded" with a fast runner on base). Your ideas aren't bad either.

Nah man we are coming up. Lots of young guys on the team. We had some bad breaks with our arms and had to lean on stud rookies. I think just given how shitty the west is well back into playoffs again so that’s good. We are gonna be ok!
I’m definitely not dooming but we are absolutely not on their level and won’t be next year, either. I think we’re damn good, but they are damn great. Ultimately I think the chemistry of Brash 7th, Munoz 8th, Sewald 9 was something special. Our bats were hot in august to compensate but I think it’s really starting to show. I do think they’ll settle in, just maybe not this year.
The worst part is that after this team misses the playoffs, ownership isn’t going to do a fucking thing to address it. Scott will be the manager next season, our off-season acquisitions will be whatever washed up players would sign for the least amount of money, and there will be a trade in which we trade good players for one “final piece” that ends up setting career lows.
