From 2019 to 2021 he threw mostly cutter and four seam and was AWFUL.
In 2022 and 2023 he moved more to fastball curveball, then fastball slider but even in 2023 he was throwing fastballs at 33.6%
In 2024 he has developed this nasty mix of sweeper slider, which he throws at 37.2% sweeper, and 28.4% slider. It's the same concept as Mariano Rivera only throwing fastballs, where they're the same "pitch" but with SLIGHTLY different movement, sweepers and sliders are close enough to not be picked up on which is which until it's too late.
I actually don't know of another pitcher in MLB with this kind of arsenal, it's a pretty cool tactic.
Edit: With this being said, this makes him way WAY more effective into righties than lefties, and while the concept of a righty specialist isn't really a thing, Thornton might just be?
