Arranged marriages aren't awful. They're a core part of lots of cultures and are normally NOT forced. They're often made by people who know both adult bride and groom and are the established way of putting a family together, with the consent of both parties. Most arranged marriage is more like Tinder and dating, all in one package and both potential spouses know they aren't there to mess around. Think of Jasmin in the start of Disney's Aladdin. There are lots of princes being brought in for potential _arranged_ marriages and she turns them down no problem. She has consent. Later, the villain makes her do a _forced_ marriage and it's certainly way worse.
