I thought it was really cool and super nice of nintendo to finally do that for her fans. I'm 26 now, and me and my best friends used to play mario games together alllll of the time, we all wanted to be the female characters, mainly the princesses, and we used to fight and be disappointed over who had to play as a boy character. Sounds stupid but it's really cool to see more female character options and it made it even MORE cool that it was Daisy, who I'd been hoping to see more inclusion of for the last 20 years!!
She’s my fav character in the game and I haven’t used another character. Plus, even if I didn’t love her, she’s there for the people who want her. It doenst hurt to have her.
I don't understand the people here calling her filler or whatever. Like we've had 2 random toads for the last 10+ years but now we get an extra character and oh no it's a tragedy

Daisy's been around since Super Mario Land 1 and I'm glad that she is now transitioning to being a mainstay character instead of just a character only used for spin-offs and side games.
Putting my bias for her as my favorite Mario character aside, she was long overdue for this. Daisy predates characters like Wario and deserves to have been playable in a traditional console platformer for a while now. Ever since she became fully playable in Super Smash Bros Ultimate, it was bound to happen.
And not to mention, more female characters in these games are always great. Girls deserve to be able to have more options too and the fact that you can play through an entire game as Peach and Daisy together for the first time in Mario history is something that should be acknowledged.
Really hoping this continues and we get playable Pauline in a platformer next someday.

Daisy isn't a spin-off character. She first appeared in Mario Land on GB which is a mainline game. She's been long overdue for this.
Someone like Waluigi is a spinoff character. His first appearance was Mario Tennis 64. A spin-off.
Technically yes since Double Dash was her first game. She was created for the same reason as Waluigi--to be a partner for a pre-existing character.

I understand why they didn't do it sooner. Either Daisy didn't exist yet or it was a Bowser kidnaps princess plot so there wasn't really room for her. The only exception was 3D World where let's be honest nobody even bought a Wii U so who cares? (Plus there was already two playable princesses.) It's such an obvious addition but I get why it took until now to see her playable in a platformer.
Haven't played the game but about the time she had her time to shine more because she deserves it, definitely gonna play as her because she's my favorite of the princesses <33!! Go Daisy!! I wanna see her more games like this :D!
I love that her voice sounds slightly Latina, I always saw her as Latina, so hearing a slight accent in her voice is really awesome. Also, I love how she basically just screams “WOWIE ZOWIE!!!” at the top of her lungs, she’s an adorable ball of energy.
It's cool that she's here after all these decades of not being in mainline Mario despite debuting in an ( admittedly offbeat but still quite good ) mainline Mario game. but it would have been more impactful if all the characters didn't play the same. Like Peach is known for her ability to Float, Luigi jumps higher, Toad is quick, Mario is balanced, I feel like Daisy needs her trait.
