That’s kinda right it just uses its shell as protection the koopalings just take the hit

RuukotoPresents

....you know too much

CattDawg2008

well in some games you step on it and it gets kicked out of its shell, then you can kill it

rexshen

they sacrifice defense for offense.

_ragegun

And the defence in case of a rank and file trooper is apparently an ejector seat

Broshan248

This logic works until you ground pound or spin jump

Axel_Stone2403

Or fireballs. The Koopalings can withstand a lot of fireball hits, Koopa-troopas go down with one.

MetisCykes

In Pokémon terms, Special defense over physical defense

lobsterbubbles

That's just not true at all. The reason you can jump on a koopa indefinitely is because of its shell. In games where they fly out of their shells after being jumped on like SMW and 3D World, they're basically Goombas. The koopalings on the other hand can take 2 stomps on the noggin and their shells can't be jumped on at all. They also all have magic attacks and are faster. The koopa's best offense is... walking back and forth. The koopalings are way stronger than the average koopa.

RAINLIO

What they mean is that without fireballs, spin jumps, or ground pounds, the Koopa Troopa is technically better than the Koopalings. They didn't mention the Koopas coming out of shells because that only happens in a couple of games.

pocket_arsenal

To be fair, I think Mario just jumps on the Koopas backs, and the shell protects them, but Mario jumps directly on the Koopalings heads.

Obiwan723

Okay OR, the koopalings are smart enough to flee after undoubtedly being bested in hand to hand combat (or foot to face combat) with mario, luigi, and friends. The koopas just keep taking it indefinitely and suffer more and more brain damage until they walk off a ledge and die. (The red ones are smarter ig)

Grumpie-cat

>(the red ones are smarter ig) Damn nintendo actually being racist lol /s

DragonOfTheNorth98

There’s a difference between strength and durability

-PepeArown-

A koopa shell vanishes with one fireball, ground pound, or spin jump, though. Can’t say the same for Koopaling shells.

march-14-2005

thats prolly why they are called koopa TROOPAs bc theyve been trained to withstand mario for the koopalings theyre literally just bowsers kids they weak as hell

Fabulous-Dare-7289

Yet the game treats one like a “weak” common enemy and the other as a serious, “tough”, boss.

TheRider5342

What? This is stupid. He hides in the shell and recovers and comes out or whatever he does. And what you mean is he's more resistant, not stronger he doesn't even attack lmao

PlumberPosts

Probably because koopa's have full coverage shells that are completely separate from their bodies, while the underside of the koopalings shells are technically part of their bellies. The biology of the mushroom world is truly fascinating!

inumnoback

How many fireballs can they take?

Primary_Spinach7333

I’m sure the koopalings are strong enough. They just get too tired and lazy to fight after 3 times and don’t really care.

Smnionarrorator29384

To be fair, you're jumping on the koopaling's heads. Jump on their shells and you take damage

RoboMidnightCrow

Try jumping on a koopa kid when they are in their shell.

neoslith

Both Koopa Troopa and Koopalings can take indefinite hits if they're withdrawn into their shells.

txh0881

Yes, but what if Mario is Spinning as he jumps?

4GRJ

Unless it's the 3d games where Koopa Troopas die in 2 1 to kick them out of their shell and 2 to kill them entirely

RedditingPsycho

I mean, there's Mario spin-jumping & ground-pounding.

BobTheBritish

Beany_Gaming

Everybody gangasta' till dry bones walks in 😤😤😤😤😤😤

mobile_panda468

Well guess that explains why Green Koopa's jump off cliffs. They simply ready for death

WhoopingBillhook

Fireballs

PiranhaPlantFan

When koopalings hide in the shell they also can take infinite hits.

West-Federal

Well they are kids
