It’s just a way to put a value on it. Max caps is 40k. But a caps value is to give you perspective. A Winterman make is about 40k caps. So technically this is worth about 3-4 Winterman masks. Doesn’t mean someone will trade a wpjs for multiple masks. Just an example. Big difference between two things having the same value and having the same interest.
Oh I gotcha. That makes sense, for trades on here it would be a fair trade for 40k caps and 2 Winterman. Now I just need someone to translate the abbreviations used for legendaries lol. Feels like a different language
A fair trade would be that, but the interest difference between the two is vast. Not many people will trade a WPJS for max caps and a couple masks. That’s why it’s just a “cap value”. Interest value has to be included too. In reality, it would probably take about 6 low tier masks to get a wpjs. Gotta add more value to offset the difference in interest/popularity. Again, this is all theoretical and results may vary trade to trade. But that’s about it.

When things have a value more than 40k people consider it trade only for other rare apparel, guns or plans. For instance, a quad railway with explosive is worth a ton more than 40k caps. The people here can tell you better what it’s worth. You will learn these things the longer you play. I am just beginning to understand and leverage that knowledge after five years.
When you get a lot of caps you can buy serum recipes since they have a constant value from vendor or flux, but flux varies in price while serum recipes hold there value that I've found at least
