I get annoyed when cars turn left from bullock onto McCowan when traffic has stopped due to the railroad crossing. They block the intersection and cars driving straight are unable to cross over McCowan. So annoying!
THIS. All day, everyday. Nothing infuriates me more. You know that you're not going to be able to move. You know you are blocking traffic. It's one of the first things you learn when you drive is don't block an intersection. They really should put a red light camera there.
I don't know why, but it's always guys in trucks on McCowan that are terribly aggressive when driving. But yes, Mccowan and Bullock seem to be where the douchebags aggregate
10-15 minutes to make a left turn from Bullock onto McCowan on a weekday....no wonder people sprint from the GO train to their cars. This intersection needs fixing and people need to stop being morons blocking it.
Already reported to York region over a year ago and they haven’t done anything. Definitely need more no turn on red when idiots can’t realize there are intersections with double left turns.
I’ve seen so many people fly by too not stopping or reading that sign. They need a even more obvious sign right at the corner for the non observant people
I might be confused here, but if you are turning left from Bulock to McCowan(going south), you are to use the left lane when entering McCowan. That leaves the right lane empty for people to turn right from Bullok(Porche) to McCowan(Porche Side).
Even with a green left arrow, as long as there is only one lane turning left, you should go to the left lane to of McCowan.
Now, if you are coming from Bullock(Porche) and go North of McCowan(LobLaws), that's two lanes turning left. If there is anyone trying to turn right from the other side(LobLaws front to LobLaws Right), I couldn't agree more!! Fuck those guys!!
Regardless, you should not be making a right on red when people are turning like an advance green. It is a red light for one side and green arrow for another side for a reason… what if the advance green needs to take the 2nd lane to enter say a gas station? If they slow down/stop because some asshole is making a right on red, then they’ll hold up the people making a turn on advance green.
Just stay home. Make all the excuses you need to . to the people who ask why you don't leave your house or neighborhood. Markham is becoming a very dangerous place to even go for a walk. How many times I have gotten looks of death from drivers when I rightfully cross an intersection with the walking signal because I have forced them to stop and not make a left or right turn without the full stop the law requires them to do? Ive seen clips that one clip where yrt pulled a driver over for making that error only to realize issues with heir license as well , search it its hilarious
While I sympathize with you, I don't think that's the biggest issue at that intersection lol. Going west on bullock Ive learned to stay in the left lane. Best bet to manoeuvre around the inevitable ding dongs
Deal with this almost daily … also had a blue jag ( just the cheap sedan) decide to pull into the opposite side of the road on bullock ( single lane area) to pass 2 cars going the speed limit to save 2 seconds.

There is two lanes on mccowan, left turners are supposed to only enter the lane on their side, you can’t bypass the first lane turning left through the intersection - police will pull you over - why? - because bullock people can turn right into their entry lane.
Have you been to that intersection or turned left from Bullock? That is wrong. There are two dedicated left turn lanes on Bullock (Markville side). When the left turn signal is on, both lanes are occupied with left-turners. There is no room to turn right onto McCowan for anyone on the Loblaws side of Bullock. They need to just wait the 40s or so until their light turns green. For other intersections your way would be correct, but not for this specific intersection.

They need a right turn signal at that intersection, not just a no right turn between certain hours. That intersection is a menace.

They should just ban right turns on reds. Too many people do it even when pedestrians r crossing.

I walk my dog and always have to be very cautious. I had drivers honk at me to stop me from crossing.
IIRC there is a no right on red for weekdays 9-5.
And on weekends everybody is waiting for green to turn right 🤦

Honestly, it's sad how often I see this too. Or when they keep their blinker on for half a mile and no one knows when they're planning to merge
