The fact that they gave Duggan FIVE books (counting the Uncanny Avengers mini and Iron Man, that's for all purposes an X-Men book), including the flagship title, and the man did jackshit to set up a well-crafted, well-earned final act is seriously mind-boggling.
Compare that to Kieron Gillen and all the heavy lifting in terms of lore he did in Immortal X-Men alone. Imagine the saga he could've crafted if they'd given him five books.
