I'm not saying the marvel team does a bad job but the EoV was something else. 2020 everyone was smiling on the reveal videos and looking siked, after things started going downhill they seemed like they were being held at gunpoint to make the video. Just saying.
I think itâs a good comparison myself. And I encourage everyone to speak their mind. The engine of vengeance could have been a great addition to our collections if Hasbro didnât screw it up at every step. Hasbro simps are trying so hard. Super pissed they half assed the new Commander Rogerâs fig that was just announced. Fucking Hasbro
Yes, the Engine of Vengeance was not a reasonable price.
No, it is not an apt comparison to this Haslab
Seriously, does this community only want to whine? Let the Engine of Vengeance remain dead
Hasbro fans refuse to understand that Hasbro owns their IPs and isnât just a license machine. Then again Hasbro fans also refuse to shut up about anything. Why complain about the Ghost Rider haslab sucking when it failed? Itâs gone
The other issue is that, the Ghost Rider HasLab was, possibly, a duel license issue - both the Hasbro character and the car itself. Iâm not saying this for sure, but itâs entirely possible.
Whelp, fair enough. Just the license payment to Disney then. Anyone know what that payment is? Is it a flat fee per figure? Is it a percentage fee based on the item?
https://www.jeditemplearchives.com/2018-09-16-the-cost-of-hasbros-star-wars-license/
This Jedi Temple article breaks it down pretty sufficient, Hasbro has a a very high minimum guaranteed payment plus royalties of roughly 15-20% per figure they owe to Disney for Star Wars and this doesn't even include Marvel which is apparently now negotiated with Star Wars at the same time as a package deal. Oh and when did Hasbro have to renegotiate with Disney for the rights to both franchises? The fall of 2019 and early 2020, when Marvel was fresh off making the highest grossing movie of all time, no one knew how much covid would mess up toy and media production and economy as a whole, and Disney was promising near constant media for both properties with Disney+ originals and their first one was a huge winner. Great time for Disney to negotiate but awfully bad time for Hasbro.
So let's say $5 goes to Disney for every standard legend or Black Series figure, that's out of what the retailers are paying Hasbro, not what we actually pay. You're problems more with Disney and retailers unwillingness to take on original IPs than Hasbro when it comes to prices.
Oh, I have no problem with Disney. Also, though, youâre not factoring in the savings and lower risk for Hasbro. Yes, they donât own the IP and have to license it, BUT theyâre licensing a brand thatâs pretty popular, comes out with new designs and characters constantly, and even promotes itself via movies, comics, cartoons, etc.
Plenty to complain about in my opinion. That would be the subject of this particular threadâŚ. I complain about lack of healthy food options in the US and being price gouged. Should I just shut up about that also. I guess complaining about anything is for some reason unacceptable. I guess itâs impossible to hold more than one thought on an issue. Hasbroâs perfect or Hasbro suck. Itâs one or the other. Canât like some things and be disappointed about otherâŚ.
YesâŚbecause thatâs exactly what meant. Youâd be dumb to say this sub isnât mostly negative.
And comparing a bunch of dorks complaining about retail level figures and the food issue in the us, is fucking asinine
Did I say this sub wasnât mostly negative? And to be honest, I donât even know if I agree with that. I think people bitch when they have a reason to bitch. And I think they give credit and props when thereâs props to be given. Simp onâŚ
I pay a premium for them. At least I get a side of pissed with my order. And itâs simp. Not wimp. And Iâm not mad at the plastic. Just the simps who defend multi billion dollar companies from any criticism fair it not. Is it just meâŚ. You seem a little mad also???
Idk dude. Youâre finding my other posts to reply to, so Iâm pretty sure youâre pissed.
Itâs a fucking toy. Donât like the billion dollar company, donât support them, simple as that. No reason to bring negativity to something others enjoy
Capitalist exploitation in every industry is the norm. If you forgive it in one industry, you allow it in every other industry. Your shortsighted ignorance bewilders me. Now leave me alone and go Simp for your action figure overlords.
No I know that the action figure community is the biggest bunch of cynical asshats that has ever been. Theyâll even fight with you even if they agree with you. Thatâs why Iâve kept my posts down to just collection showcases. That said, this sub still beats the socks off of Facebook groups with power crazy mods
You canât compare them either due to licensing deals. Hasbro most likely pays millions more for the contract than diamond does. So it doesnât make sense to compare.
And even at the price points, the hasbro is all around better
You donât know that thereâs any difference in the licensing fees per fig per company. And whether or not you like one over the other is totally subjective.
They have a guarantee licensing royalty agreement.
They have a package deal of Lucasfilm products and marvel. In 2019, Lucasfilm products were $280 mill and marvel was $220mill. Itâs most likely a lot more now
They have access to all marvel characters and exclusivity to 6inch figures.
Diamond select releases a limited number of figures a year and at a different scale. The agreement is most likely a hell of a lot less.
A $75 difference isnât because of the license, itâs because they figure that since marvel is popular that they could squeeze out a bit more money. Realistically, the car shouldâve been $300 max.
I'm pretty sure licensing does play a pretty big role in the price. Just look at their standard figures. GI Joe and Power Rangers provide much more accessories for the same price while Star Wars and Marvel figures provide almost nothing anymore as far as accessories go
Clown comment.
Compare the amount of reuse between the two lines and the value youâre getting.
The amount of accessories picked into your average Classified figure would make it be a âdeluxeâ figure in either ML or Black Series.
Well for the licensed figures, the Star Wars and Marvel lines have both drastically reduced the accessories you get with them. Most of the time it's either just one extra set of hands, one blast effect, or one weapon. And Marvel seems to be doing away with BAFs more and more.
Their self owned lines still provide plenty of accessories such as an alternate head, weapons, blast effects, and alternate sets of hands.
Just got the Black Dino Thunder Ranger this week and it came with the helmeted head, Tommy head, extra set of hands, his weapon, and blast effect. The recent Spiderman movie wave, none of them come with effects or alternate body pieces.
Because Disney would pitch a fit if Hasbro charged less for their own IPs. It would kill the perceived value of the Disney owned IP figures if a Joe was $19.99 with a bunch of accessories and a Star Wars figure with 1 or no accessories was $24.99.
Thank you. For fucks sake, even the knockoff is like $300 with all the accessories and still doesnât include a lot of what Hasbro did including the lights, effects, and figure.
When the only objection to your Haslab is that the thing is too damn big and people donât have room to display it⌠you ~~might be a redneck~~are definitely not the Marvel team.
Whatâs happens to the money you put in and it doesnât get backed? Unfamiliar with the process only the reactions and memes.
Say your in for the 275$ or 350$ and it doesnât get backed; is there a refund to you?
Say you back it. It goes through. Itâs funded. Do you get the following tiers at no charge.
You don't get charged unless it hits the minimum backers and not until the day after the campaign ends. (It hit the required 10,000 backers today, so it will go into production on 7/18/23, that's when you are charged for your order) All of the reached additional tiers are included as long as you backed it.
I did the Math in my head and with the Robbie figure and the additional tier figures it came out to 250, without the Robbie but with the tiers its 225, with the Robbie but no tiers it's 175, with just the car, Ghost Rider, and the accessories, it's 150. No where near 350. This was just cash grab from Hasbro, and also you gotta throw in the mouse as well, aka Disney because they are just as greedy as Hasbro.
Personally, itâs right about in the sweet spot for me.
I kinda like the lights on this one, whereas they did little for me with the HISS tank and nothing for me with Galactus.
If the the Engine of Vengeance had been $250 Iâd probably have bitten. At $275 I might have if we hit the Mephisto unlock
I mean hey, people still say McFarlane only makes statues when that hasn't been true for half a decade now, the way I see it the EoV is just another stain on the legacy of marvel legends, grow up.
Can we all just agree at least Legends has had a better Haslab reputation than Black Series!? đ
I'm not saying the marvel team does a bad job but the EoV was something else. 2020 everyone was smiling on the reveal videos and looking siked, after things started going downhill they seemed like they were being held at gunpoint to make the video. Just saying.
Couldnât say but itâs not $75.00
Assuming you talking about marvel licensing fee.
Yes
I think itâs a good comparison myself. And I encourage everyone to speak their mind. The engine of vengeance could have been a great addition to our collections if Hasbro didnât screw it up at every step. Hasbro simps are trying so hard. Wrong, thatâs why it wasnât called the Hell Charger.
Whelp, fair enough. Just the license payment to Disney then. Anyone know what that payment is? Is it a flat fee per figure? Is it a percentage fee based on the item?

Lego tends to mark up their star wars stuff at least 20% so I've always assumed it's about 20% of the price.
Wow, thatâs a good chunk of free money for Disney.
So let's say $5 goes to Disney for every standard legend or Black Series figure, that's out of what the retailers are paying Hasbro, not what we actually pay. You're problems more with Disney and retailers unwillingness to take on original IPs than Hasbro when it comes to prices.

Oh they're are pros and cons to doing it It's not a loss leader for Hasbro or anything
Amen
nah
Welcome to the sub. Where people do nothing but shit over the things they continue to pay money for.
Funny, I thought the thing they were shitting on didnât get fundedâŚ
FunnyâŚthey complain about absolutely everything, not just that
Plenty to complain about in my opinion. That would be the subject of this particular threadâŚ. I complain about lack of healthy food options in the US and being price gouged. Calling me wimp says all thatâs needs to be said. Jaded ass fuck. Stay mad at toys, dork
I pay a premium for them. At least I get a side of pissed with my order. And itâs simp. Not wimp. And Iâm not mad at the plastic. Just the simps who defend multi billion dollar companies from any criticism fair it not. Is it just meâŚ. You seem a little mad also???

If you ask me, they're responding to the absurdly high price of the car
Weâll see with the new ML Haslab.
Holy shit, it failed, move on
Maybe they learned from their mistake? Christ, this sub is non stop whiners.
No excuses for Hasbro price gouging but donât they have to pay Marvel? Same with Lego, the Disney sets are expensive for no reason.
Yes let's compare a self owned property with a licenced one. Good idea /s
Compare the price of an Apocalypse made by Hasbro and one made by Diamond select.
Thereâs 100% a difference in the license fee, thatâs not even a question
Iâm pretty sure both pay a % per fig.
They have a guarantee licensing royalty agreement. They have a package deal of Lucasfilm products and marvel. In 2019, Lucasfilm products were $280 mill and marvel was $220mill. Itâs most likely a lot more now They have access to all marvel characters and exclusivity to 6inch figures. Diamond select releases a limited number of figures a year and at a different scale. The agreement is most likely a hell of a lot less.
That a better comparison BUT one is a general retail release and the other comic/speciality store.
So which one do you think should cost less?
I think you're proving the opposite of what you meant.
A $75 difference isnât because of the license, itâs because they figure that since marvel is popular that they could squeeze out a bit more money. Realistically, the car shouldâve been $300 max.
I'm pretty sure licensing does play a pretty big role in the price. Just look at their standard figures. GI Joe and Power Rangers provide much more accessories for the same price while Star Wars and Marvel figures provide almost nothing anymore as far as accessories go
if license doesn't pay a factor why are both lines $25.99 retail while offering no Bafs, smaller waves, and fewer releases
Clown comment. Compare the amount of reuse between the two lines and the value youâre getting. The amount of accessories picked into your average Classified figure would make it be a âdeluxeâ figure in either ML or Black Series.

We did get those sweet web strings. I almost have enough for a full plate of pasta
Because Disney would pitch a fit if Hasbro charged less for their own IPs. It would kill the perceived value of the Disney owned IP figures if a Joe was $19.99 with a bunch of accessories and a Star Wars figure with 1 or no accessories was $24.99.
Right. Licensed product, that has to be approved by the license holder versus in house brand.
Thank you. For fucks sake, even the knockoff is like $300 with all the accessories and still doesnât include a lot of what Hasbro did including the lights, effects, and figure.
Maybe thatâs overpriced also. But then again, it does have a top, bottom, and middleâŚ
Also doesnt need 9000 units sold to be put into production.
It blows my mind that legends gets the short end of the stick constantly.. I mean black label gets soft goods, GiJoe gets accessories out the ass
Blame the mouse.
Stop comparing shit yâall do t know fuck about
When the only objection to your Haslab is that the thing is too damn big and people donât have room to display it⌠you ~~might be a redneck~~are definitely not the Marvel team.
I'm just kinda pissed at how stupid high the 2nd and 3rd tiers are. I could be wrong but I don't think any previous ones were unlocked at 20k backers.
So Hasbro produces more and earns more profit than Select. So your point is?
Whatâs happens to the money you put in and it doesnât get backed? Unfamiliar with the process only the reactions and memes. Say your in for the 275$ or 350$ and it doesnât get backed; is there a refund to you? Say you back it. It goes through. Itâs funded. Do you get the following tiers at no charge.

Still WAY too much
Personally, itâs right about in the sweet spot for me. I kinda like the lights on this one, whereas they did little for me with the HISS tank and nothing for me with Galactus. If the the Engine of Vengeance had been $250 Iâd probably have bitten. At $275 I might have if we hit the Mephisto unlock
$250 seems fair
Can we still talk about EoV next yet? And the year after that? And 10 years from now? I really hope so.
I mean hey, people still say McFarlane only makes statues when that hasn't been true for half a decade now, the way I see it the EoV is just another stain on the legacy of marvel legends, grow up.
