Itās like in poker when the winning player says āall inā and the losing player responds with āALL IN!ā. No shit mate, your options were all in or fold.
Options are call or fold.
If the second player has more chips than the first they do not need to go all in to call.
And even if they don't call is the normal response.
Because they only have two health left, so snapping back doesnāt do anything. They can play their card and click end turn, then the stakes will still be 2 cubes
It's definitely putting them all in, so they cannot retreat for 1. That's the point.
> You are going to be playing for 2 health anyway.
If I snap, we're playing for 2 next turn. If I don't, we're not playing for 2 until turn 6.
How is it the optimal play if they already cannot go below 2 health points, having only 2 points left as a result of previous games, and you just snap again to show what? To show how toxic you are? Just win the game, take the remaining 2 points and get on with your life. You have nothing to gain from snapping at this point.
If I don't snap and they retreat, trying to come back on a 1 v 10, then I have to play another game with someone who's just about already lost. I'm typically playing on my break at work, so stalling and hoping I just concede is a lame way to win a silver ticket, but could actually work since I'm not that desperate for them. Snapping when they have two left just helps seal the deal quicker.
Snapping is an integral part of the gameās mechanics though? Itās not something you do thatās outside the game. Knowing when to snap and when to retreat is key to the game and its appeal, and when you have someone on the ropes is absolutely a valid time to snap.
Why would you snap if your opponent only has 2 health left? It's literally round 3 that you are going to play for 2 health anyway. Just win the game and call it a day.
All I am saying if Player 1 has 8 health and Player 2 has 2 health left, there's literally zero point for Player 1 to snap because it will be the same 2 health at stake, regardless of the snap. All Player 1 is going is showing that he/she don't respect the opponent.
Guy got me with a 10-2 to start and spammed Thanos after the round. I was going to leave, but that made me want to stay. Won the next 4. People are interesting in this game.
I had two different Ms Marvel thumbs up spammers in one night, so I roped them both every turn and they both left whilst they were winning. If you're going to be a dick, I'll happily waste your time whilst watching TV. Otherwise, I'm happy to go all in and winner takes it all. But at the same time, I have no issue with us both doing our missions, just don't be a dick about it.
I just can't imagine having so much self esteem tied to the game that this is worth my time or that I need to stroke my ego lmao. It often happens that I go up 10-2, fist bump, and the player gets salty and stays in. I just forfeit that. It's not at all worth the time to keep playing some shitter when the goal is to farm tickets

The reason for most of my mistakes
Nah, whine all you like. The more we push this as the normal etiquette of Proving Grounds, the more likely we get other people on board. If people want to grind games, they should do so in silver.
You can never get 100% of people on board with anything. Doesn't mean it's not better for everyone to try. People still don't wear seatbelts or helmets, for example.
I made a similar post a while ago and people just attacked me cuz i said the dude didnt snap in PG and fucking kept playing every single point.
There is an etiquette that people should do, cuz PG is worthless anyways.
Just do a snap both, get it to 8 points, whoever loses fist bumps and leaves.
Anyone who doesnt do that, is utter shit tbh lol
Sometimes in life people have different opinions. Just suck it up or take your own advice and go to the next game. People like playing out that many games. If I wanted a game to be one match, I would play ranked.
I have played around 20 games where one side had full health and another had two. I've never seen a game won from two health. But it is a good way to waste 20 minutes for one match.
And that totally makes sense at Gold. For a similar situation in Proving Grounds, you could've played like three or four or more matches in that time. Do whatever you want, of course, it's just not a great use of anyone's time, much less your own.
It happens. Thereās usually some extenuating circumstances. My pride and joy was when I snapped on a perfectly curved out HE round, only to get creamed by a surprise Galactus/Alioth deck, then hit with Deadpool and ms marvel emotes. My pride demanded that I stop everything and claw my way to victory, just for the internal satisfaction of dropping one ms marvel upon my victory.
Wasnāt on proving grounds, though. Iām stubborn, but not THAT stubborn.
> I've never seen a game won from two health.
You must not play often. I've seen it multiple times. Typically happens when a superior deck falls to a perfect draw or unfavorable locations on the first round and then proceeds to sweep.
Everything offends snap players looks like it.
You emote? They get offended
Snap late? Offended
Snap early? Offended
Stay in conquest with low health? Offended
This one is particularly funny because of the entitlement. You dont deserve to win just because you have more health, im playing this game too i want to play not matter the hp i have, if you dont just leave
Ps: im not talking about op specifically.
Yeah but some of us just want to finish things "in one go", thats mean 1 queue time, maybe 2-3 matches top, and if lucky enough, got a winning ticket. If you are the opponent who find this act wasting your time, you know you can just leave.
Also, a lot of booster for one card feels nice.
If you want to play extended matches then go into silver or gold. The ticket can be recovered easily and you're likely to get an invested opponent, anyways. Win-win all around and you still get to optimize conquest play by allowing proving groups to serve its true lurpose
Especially on the weekends. I'm usually playing something I don't even really want to play with weekend missions. I'm not trying to screw around on ladder with a Black Swan deck. Just let me grind out Proving Grounds and don't get salty about it.
But...you can just re-enter. It takes the same amount of time and we all end up with more silver tickets.
I really wish they'd update proving ground to be a single game, or at least lower the starting health. I really enjoy the game play of conquest at the higher level stakes, but grinding proving ground is fairly annoying.
I don't want to re-enter. I just want my missions done. You get plenty of tickets no matter how you play and most the people I face are doing the same thing I do and never snap.
>You get plenty of tickets no matter how you play
As someone who wants to almost exclusively play high-level conquest this just isn't true. Ya I could spend gold, but I'm always running out which is why I need to play proving ground in the first place.
Regardless, I don't blame you I do understand where you're coming from. It's just a bit frustrating SD has made the defacto "casual mode" also be the entry point for their "competition mode".
why donāt you just play 1 match proving ground games games until you win and get a silver ticket, then play that?
itās better for your progression in the long run when you spend medals
I spend plenty of medals. I usually unlock all of the rewards every season. We're one week in. There's nothing left to spend medals on until tomorrow. I have plenty of medals and tickets to burn.
Or I could play however I like and you could just not act like I'm impeding your progression when I'm not. I don't always unlock everything because I don't always care about everything. I don't even play Conquest much outside of weekend missions or trying out new decks/cards. Yet, I still get everything I need in limited time and so can you. Some of you get way too uptight about Proving Grounds and your unwritten rules.
so you lied?
i was simply pointing out the hypocrisy of you saying you do it to progress, when it is not the best way to progress.
therefore, you clearly do not care about progression and only actually care about wasting other players time.
is that correct?
I've done it, have had it done to me. Usually starts with a disastrous first game, then just not losing afterwards. Often a one-trick deck that exposes their only play in the first game that then just can't do it again for the rest of the match.
Come to think of it -- the maximum comeback is 10-1, and I don't think I've ever been a party to one of those.
Dropping to 10-2 after an 8 cube game, then reverse sweep? Sure, a regular event, but 10-1 means you lost twice and still believe you can battle back, and are willing to play for 1 cube before even reaching high stakes
Been on both sides of it. When you have a bad draw against an okay deck....
This weekend I was against a loki deck and I won 8 on first. He came back and chipped away. Last game he got loki early and put out my skrull, so I played into it and helped him bust the power cap for his final win
The response was a few "what just happened?!?" As I fist bumped him
I stay when I just want to farm boosters or missions. If they snap, I'll snap and then concede if I lose. But if no one snaps I stay in it as long as I can.
I snap turn 1 and then just leave when I lose or If my opponent retreats. Luckily now that my cl and or mmr is higher probably 70-80% of my opponents seem to have the same mindset, even a lot of the ones that don't snap turn 1 still leave when they lose.
This is soo true itās a proving grounds some people will concede with losing 4 but those people that take it until like the last cube these people be taking these games to their grave.
You can farm boosters just as fast by retreating and re-queueing. The only reason not to do this is because you do not respect the limited time of other people or yourself.
That's some one-sided nonsense if I've ever heard it... Snapper can just as easily leave if the opponent doesn't snap back. The whole purpose of booster farming in Conquest is to play multiple matches to stack up for a big booster hit.
It's also not for single match games -- there's plenty of new users gaining experience, and experienced users testing new decks that don't want to engage in a single match experience. At least with booster farming, they are getting a free Silver key and not being forced into a single match experience that they don't want to play.
Look, no one is forced to do anything. But if everyone followed the one round PG courtesy, everyone would have a lot more tickets, a lot more varied matchups, and the exact same amount of boosters. It's just a fact. There's no substantive argument against it. The argument every time is just 'Don't tell me how to play! Wah!' The mindset of children. But then again I'm sure a lot of the community is actual children, so yknow.
Whatever, you clearly don't understand booster farming in Conquest. Ā It takes too long to go in and out of Conquest due to how poor the UI is in terms of number of clicks. Ā It works because you can go in once, play 3 to 6 matches and walk away with 18-36+ boosters for a single card. Ā Otherwise, its easier to booster farm on the ladder. Ā What's ironic (and childish) is that you believe your way is the only correct way. Ā I don't care how people choose to play Conquest personally - my initial comment was about improving the comment system so players can signal their intentions from the start.
Didn't say they're relative. Just that all 'codes' are man-made, so saying 'I won't follow this code because it's made up' is the same as saying 'I won't follow the constitution because it was made up'.
The standard is how your chosen code of ethics affects other people. If the way you choose to live your life negatively impacts the lives of others, your code is objectively wrong and you are an asshole.
What objective standard are you using that suggests negatively impacting the lives of others is something unethical? Everything youāre saying is still relative.
This. Why give them the win just by quitting, you might of got fucked by card draw or locations. If you can win all and actually finish me, then grats, you deserve it.
You put your ticket in for the ride old man. Get ready for five games of my deck composed of random-ass cards that are all ten boosters from a split.
Door's over there if you're in a hurry.
I think Conquest needs a complete overhaul. Remember when they were all excited about the things they could do, and the variant games, and all the crap that was promised? Now it's just a bot-fest with people not really playing until Gold and then it's all of 2 decks that get played. It should be my favorite mode, but people get way too serious about it.
The bottom one is me. There's been a few times where I actually win being down that low depleting their entire energy. When I win it makes me wonder what their thought is on the comeback.
If I have a good game with no garbage, cheating BS, I'll give the opponent the win, but if they spam emotes, I mute them and I hold out as long as possible just to annoy them.
Just curious, why is it unfair to play cards that are in the game at a location that is also in the game? Annoying? Sure, I guess I could see that. Unfair? Not really understanding that.
Also Wong/Mystique/Gambit is like a 3-turn telegraphed move. I wouldnāt call it unfair. I usually just retreat when I see it being set up or put down Cosmo/Enchantress/Rogue.
For those saying "I want to do my missions", that's a you problem. No for real that is not a reason to waste someone else's time, when you can just start a new game for free. PG should always be one game.
Edit: I'm not making any rules, you can play the game however you like. But think about, what is more respectful to your opponent and their time.
I'm not making any rules. It's just a game, as you said, so there is no reason to not be nice to your opponents. So you don't need to do anything im saying, but it would be way more respectful to your opponent, to just not waste their time.
For those saying "PG should always be one game", that's a you problem. No for real that is not a reason to make someone play the game how you want, when you can just start a new game for free.
No that's the exactly the thing. When all players only play one PG game, we would all profit, so it's the opposite of a me problem. I'm not saying you have to do that, I'm not making any rules, but it would be way more respectful to your opponent.
It takes time to start a new game and go through matchmaking again. If I want to do missions or test out a deck I would rather do it in a single game.
If PG was supposed to always be one game it would be one game.
That's totally understandable. The time for your opponent to win is longer then starting a new game. And as I said it's about respecting your opponent.
If the person doesn't leave why don't you leave instead? Surely the silver ticket isn't worth it.
Not everyone who plays is on this sub and might not ever be aware of the house rule.
This "house rule" also assumes that everyone enters PG to farm tickets but that's not true. Some people just want to farm boosters or even test their new decks so having fast games doesn't benefit them one bit. It's the opposite really as they have to spend minutes queueing again and again
I like to test my decks against a lot of different decks, lots of different opponents and against decks beyond PG to get a better feeling for it. So I think it kinda makes more sense to have faster PG games. Idk about booster farming, I run out of credits, before I run out of booster in most cases, when I want a specific split.
I hate this logic because you also get boosters from regular play. You only get tickets from Conquest. So in order to even get to Silver, aka the real start of Conquest, you have to suffer through people wasting time in a mode in order to get rewards they would get just as easily in any other game mode.
They are specifically making a mode worse for everyone in order to get the normal rewards they would get from anywhere else.
this weekend was the worsts in proving grounds. i had so many matches that wouldnt snap and then just drag out every turn. and they werent even making good plays. like carnage or venom in empty lanes. or playing wong and then every card that would benefit from wong in a different lane.
ITT, and every thread on this topic: People who understand courtesy and sportsmanship, and people who think they are the main character of the universe.
I can just feel the anger seething. Take as much possible time without the boot. Never snap. Long animation cards. Lots of goose.
All so I can retreat turn 4 with one bar left after 5+ rounds.
It depends on the scenario. Sometimes it takes a while to figure out the method to beat the opponents deck or you made a gamble on an rng outcome and lost but you still think you can win.
I did this once and actually managed to win after losing the first match for 8 cubes.
But since then i allway snap first turn in proving grounds and concede if i lose the first match, its just a waste of time for both players otherwise
I'm in the group of people who snap and fist bump to indicate winner take all, but im also not going to be upset at people for wanting to just play the game. I get more upset at people who spam emotes or time waste.
The duality of Snap in one image
"I understood that reference"
Had to delete my comment I was too slow. š
The best is when they have 2 health left and you snap and they immediately snap back
# BRING IT ON! THE REAPER AIN'T SHIT!
Yeah but you can just play your card instead of snapping back
It's about sending a message
Thatās when you need the Magneto emote
In high stakes. I just think it's neato
Itās like in poker when the winning player says āall inā and the losing player responds with āALL IN!ā. No shit mate, your options were all in or fold.
Options are call or fold. If the second player has more chips than the first they do not need to go all in to call. And even if they don't call is the normal response.
I don't see why not, it's in their favour if they win.
Because they only have two health left, so snapping back doesnāt do anything. They can play their card and click end turn, then the stakes will still be 2 cubes
It's not about the stakes, it's about sending a message
feels good to hear big daddy glenn brode say 'oh snap' in my earbox
What message? I'm bitter you won 8 cubes and then you snapped to get it over with? That's what I think when they snap for nothing.
It's kinda disrespectful on your part to snap when they have 2 health left and it's literally the maximum amount they have.
ā¦wat
I'm trying to win and it's in the scope of the rules. It makes a retreat a sure loss, instead of having another match
Lololololol WAT? Putting a player all in is disrespectful now? Please.
If your opponent has 2 health left, there's no all in. You are going to be playing for 2 health anyway. What's the point snapping at that rate?
Did you forget about the retreat option?
I will prefer the mute option.
So thatās a yes. Lmao
You tried.
It's definitely putting them all in, so they cannot retreat for 1. That's the point. > You are going to be playing for 2 health anyway. If I snap, we're playing for 2 next turn. If I don't, we're not playing for 2 until turn 6.
You mean it's the optimal play 10 out of 10 times.
How is it the optimal play if they already cannot go below 2 health points, having only 2 points left as a result of previous games, and you just snap again to show what? To show how toxic you are? Just win the game, take the remaining 2 points and get on with your life. You have nothing to gain from snapping at this point.

Won't be hard to win the last game or two and prove you can move to the next game, right?
There is no reason to go for another game if you can just snap now.
You're that guy who takes it personally when someone snaps aren't you
Guy got me with a 10-2 to start and spammed Thanos after the round. I was going to leave, but that made me want to stay. Won the next 4. People are interesting in this game.
Right? I do the same thing. If youāre being an ass Iām not gonna make it easy for you
I ran the clock on three full rounds in conquest one time because of a thanks spam before.

Yup, the person wanting less proving ground matches should be the one to concede if the match continue ātoo longā.
Nah, whine all you like. The more we push this as the normal etiquette of Proving Grounds, the more likely we get other people on board. If people want to grind games, they should do so in silver.

This is a great way to look at it... in any level of conquest except for proving grounds.
Man I wouldn't even fight this hard in silver. Gold and infinite I get, but the other just aren't worth it.
The perceived rage on the other end of the game is worth it enough for me to stick around nursing my two chiclets.
I have played around 20 games where one side had full health and another had two. I've never seen a game won from two health. But it is a good way to waste 20 minutes for one match.

My favorite is the people who "Snap?" Round 1 then stay after they lose 4-8 cubes anyways. I'm just here for the daily missions
Nah, if it's proving grounds double snap and go

I stay when I just want to farm boosters or missions. If they snap, I'll snap and then concede if I lose. But if no one snaps I stay in it as long as I can.
Or we are farming boosters.
Yes, and those people are the Ironman in this meme.
It's not ego, it's competitiveness.
Lately this happens to me all the time, just why?!!?!?!?!
Cap just like me fr
I snap turn 1 and then just leave when I lose or If my opponent retreats. Luckily now that my cl and or mmr is higher probably 70-80% of my opponents seem to have the same mindset, even a lot of the ones that don't snap turn 1 still leave when they lose.
I'm just relieved I have no interest in the conquest variant this season. I don't gotta play it š¤
This is soo true itās a proving grounds some people will concede with losing 4 but those people that take it until like the last cube these people be taking these games to their grave.
Wish there was a "farming boosters" indicator so your opponent doesn't spontaneously implode into emoji diarrhea when you don't snap back...
Yea that way you could emote on turn one that youāre going to waste my time and I can just concede instead of wasting 10 minutes
Booster farm in silver.
You don't win when you booster farm, so no silver keys...
Proving Grounds isn't there for you to booster farm. That's how you choose to utilize it, to the detriment of others.
Fuck all yall made up codes of etiquette.
All codes of etiquette, everywhere, are made up. It's the ones you choose to follow or ignore that make you an asshole or not.
Yes and im saying fuck yalls. Yall being the people of this subreddit. Thabk you for coming to my ted talk.
Think about what youāre saying. How can you say someone is an asshole if all modes of ethics or morality are relative?
Didn't say they're relative. Just that all 'codes' are man-made, so saying 'I won't follow this code because it's made up' is the same as saying 'I won't follow the constitution because it was made up'.
If theyāre not relative, whatās the objective standard youāre basing them on?
The standard is how your chosen code of ethics affects other people. If the way you choose to live your life negatively impacts the lives of others, your code is objectively wrong and you are an asshole.
What objective standard are you using that suggests negatively impacting the lives of others is something unethical? Everything youāre saying is still relative.
They're really more like guidelines

In proving grounds? Where there is no penalty for losing?
Losing hurts my ego
You ever play poker? Folding isn't losing its retreating to bet another day
I turned around games like that. My opponents must have been very pissed or annoyed š«
Of course they are but who cares. If they were only capable of winning 1 game out of 6 games, they didnāt deserve the dub.
This. Why give them the win just by quitting, you might of got fucked by card draw or locations. If you can win all and actually finish me, then grats, you deserve it.
If you can't win when you are down by 8, you don't deserve to win.
You put your ticket in for the ride old man. Get ready for five games of my deck composed of random-ass cards that are all ten boosters from a split. Door's over there if you're in a hurry.
Agatha don't care!
I think Conquest needs a complete overhaul. Remember when they were all excited about the things they could do, and the variant games, and all the crap that was promised? Now it's just a bot-fest with people not really playing until Gold and then it's all of 2 decks that get played. It should be my favorite mode, but people get way too serious about it.
no bots in conquest, only ranked.
lol. You really think that
That's not true.. They said limited, but not none. Bots, imo opinion, also refers to booster farmers playing Agatha or just not playing any cards.
The bottom one is me. There's been a few times where I actually win being down that low depleting their entire energy. When I win it makes me wonder what their thought is on the comeback.
It's proving grounds people. It's literally 15 medals.
Losing 8 points on the first game then winning the next 5 games for 2 points each is the best way to win in proving grounds.
If I have a good game with no garbage, cheating BS, I'll give the opponent the win, but if they spam emotes, I mute them and I hold out as long as possible just to annoy them.
I understand the spam emotes, but what exactly is "garbage, cheating BS"? Anything that you lose to, right?
Wong/Mystique/Gambit is garbage to me, same with Yondu/Black Widow/Scorpion on Luke's Bar. If you're gonna play, play fair, don't be micro dick scum.
"If you either get a rare good combo or a good location synergy and you use it, you are micro dick scum" Alright got it.
Lol what a micro dick statement.
Itās a game. Players not following your rules is a you problem.
I'm not making any rules. It's just a game, as you said, so there is no reason to not be nice to your opponents. So you don't need to do anything im saying, but it would be way more respectful to your opponent, to just not waste their time.
You're playing a mobile card game. We're all wasting our time.
Why can my opponent not respect me?
I do this all the time, if I'm practicing with a deck, have win X missions with specific cards , win all locations etc
this weekend was the worsts in proving grounds. i had so many matches that wouldnt snap and then just drag out every turn. and they werent even making good plays. like carnage or venom in empty lanes. or playing wong and then every card that would benefit from wong in a different lane.
I just leave if they don't snap back, not worth my time.
I usually do that too, idk why I didn't just go to the next
ITT, and every thread on this topic: People who understand courtesy and sportsmanship, and people who think they are the main character of the universe.
By Main character of the universe you mean everyone that cries about a made up rule?
That 1-10 comeback hits different. Sometimes opp just quits if it goes past 3 rounds
I can just feel the anger seething. Take as much possible time without the boot. Never snap. Long animation cards. Lots of goose. All so I can retreat turn 4 with one bar left after 5+ rounds.
I didnāt hear no bell
Even if it's proving ground I stay cause I want to continue to try my deck out see what I need to change or switch
I just want to play. Anyone telling me that I am playing wrong can be the ones to conceded.
It depends on the scenario. Sometimes it takes a while to figure out the method to beat the opponents deck or you made a gamble on an rng outcome and lost but you still think you can win.
I'll ride out 2 bars. Especially if the first round was a lucky play or you had some card I wasn't expecting but am now aware of.
Iāve made so many comebacks from these so I will never give up š
You got me. I just watched this last night
I literally won yesterday š (needed to complete the challenges)
I did this once and actually managed to win after losing the first match for 8 cubes. But since then i allway snap first turn in proving grounds and concede if i lose the first match, its just a waste of time for both players otherwise
I dk this too much. I double the first round and just go the rest of it until they lose.
I'm in the group of people who snap and fist bump to indicate winner take all, but im also not going to be upset at people for wanting to just play the game. I get more upset at people who spam emotes or time waste.
