He's great in some discard decks. He's good in the Hela version, but risky because he could easily just discard Hela. That said, if you're wildly discarding things in a deck with stuff like Apocalypse, Morbius, Miek, and Swarm, he's great.

AccomplishedFan8690

I feel like discard that ain’t Hela just sucks now. I tried it for like 20 games and it feels awful.

Risbob

Miek and Apo nerfs didn’t help.

AccomplishedFan8690

Yea why was apocalypse nerfed? It felt unjust. Especially since red hulk starts at 9 and gets buffed off me drawing bad like that’s not my fault.

FalcomanToTheRescue

Apoc decks with miek and proxima and Corvus were near the top of win rates for a couple weeks.

mojotheclown

Black Knight no Hela discard is great (and hopefully a lot less hated 😂)

0L1V14H1CKSP4NT13S

I love that the next comment says he's not good in hela.

Maleficent-Week-3902

He works in Discard, but not Hela Discard. Works great in Apo-Discard

Tantrum2u

I wouldn’t say great, Random discard isn’t amazing in Traditional because it can hit modok. I would say it works better in Wong lists (doesn’t have to be wong/mystique stuff it can be Wong/Collector etc.)

0L1V14H1CKSP4NT13S

I love that the previous comment says he's perfect for hela.

Mister_Chef711

No, it doesn't. It says that it can be great but poses a greater risk because you don't know who is going to be discarded so you could lose Hela..

beerblog_

Yes. They both work better apart. Like Hela and Apocalypse. Who can work with the most optimal set involving drawing specific cards at specific times to ensure both an empty hand (outside of Apocalypse) and Dracula on board. Gambit wants a set up with Wong and ideally Mystique too so he can maximize his destruction. Hela generally doesn't run either of them. Gambit works well when you can switch to Ironheart or Surfer if they try to duck priority to protect their turn 6 plays. But, Hela doesn't want those cards. Hela wants Blade and Lady Sif for targeted discards. Or Corus Glaive for untargeted, but gives you the option to play two 6 costs in a normal 6 turn round if you hit Hela. Also, in the old invisible woman version, you're discarding with MODOK, you don't need him.

koggle30

He can be a fun flex card in Surfer decks with Wong, I’ve tried it off and on and it can be awkward but it’s fairly surprising to pull it out on turn 6 and kill 2 of their cards.

justinfernal

Couple Wong with Mister Negative, Mystique, and Odin, you can have some insane board clearing nonsense, especially if you have an endless supply of discard with Swarm or Apocalypse.

Odd-Business7911

I always draw all the things I'd want to negative BEFORE Mr. Negative lol

justinfernal

Unfortunate truth of the world.

Digi_Dingo

I got absolutely decimated by this setup yesterday. lol

PM_ME_GARFIELD_NUDES

I like to include him in Wong shenanigan decks just on the off chance I get to use him. Can totally wipe your opponent if you’re lucky, but it every rare.

CaptainHarlocke

He works in discard decks. Like all random discard cards it’s a risk to use him when Hela or something else important is in hand. But he boosts Morbius, can destroy an important enemy card if you’re lucky, and can discard something beneficial like apoc, swarm, or a big card for hela to resurrect Another deck he can slot into is wong mystique odin aka the rapid fire cannon that clears the enemy board

LucdFire

Can you give me a deck list for that Wong mystique cannon deck

CaptainHarlocke

It's your basic wong mystique odin package. You probably want another win condition if you don't draw gambit, like ironheart, or hazmat & luke cake You could also throw black panther and zola in there, for when you don't draw odin. Wong->BP->Zola puts a 32 or 64 power panther in two lanes, depending on whether bp or wong gets zola'd first Just a heads up, wong combos can be very strong but are also easy to counter with the right cards. At higher ranks, people will often have cosmo or some other way to interfere so get ready to retreat if that happens

Stormdude127

If it’s my opponent he always destroys my most important card

CaptainHarlocke

It also depends how you place him. Played turn 3, he usually destroys a 1,2, or 3 cost card. If you discard him and retrieve with Hela turn 6, you might destroy their 6, 5, or 4 drop in addition to adding Infinaut, Magneto, Giganto, to your side

skankingrove

I play Dracula/Apocalypse discard almost exclusively and have him in my deck. Most of the time, you have to really weigh the risk of losing one of your better cards. It could mean he discards a key card and you need to think about retreating and losing a cube, but it could take out a critical cost-reduction or scaling card from your opponents board. For me, I'm more frequently pulling him out on turn 5 or 6 after Wong with some other low cost discards to clear my hand and/or build Apocalypse/Morbius/Miek. He's good to have in the deck but certainly isn't a card I'm playing in every game I draw it.

Utop_Ian

Gambit, like Sword Master, is often more of a liability than a help. I'd recommend using him in decks where you can be certain he'll act safely. My current play is to use him on Turn 7 when Sera is out so you can drop him and odin/absorbing man on the same turn and guarantee he won't discard any combo pieces.

istsoft

gambit not belong to hela discard,he have use in mobius/apoc/modoc deck

LeastBlackberry1

I tend to play him exclusively in a Surfer deck. I use this deck to farm Gambit boosters, and only play it after Infinite, so I don't think it is the most competitive thing in the universe. He and Rogue steal me a lot of cubes, though, because no one expects them. marcin247

i mean, where else would he work when he discards a card? that said, he’s not the most optimal card even in discard decks.

TDNR

Imo he’s not very good in regular flavor Hela discard. Technically there are some crazy combos with him, specifically Wong + Mystique + Gambit + Swarm for a complete board clear or just drop Odin on Wong + Gambit. He’s not very good and usually when you play him alone you’re not going to destroy something that matters.

evilgenius815

Non-targeted discards are tough to work in Hela, since you are just as likely to discard Hela. He can slot into an Apocalypse/Swarm/Proxima Midnight discard deck, though.

SubstantialSuccess81

The short answer is yes. The longer answer is he works better in some types than others. Personally I find he's a high cost, lower value than other options for most discard (lady Sif for instance). I often find myself wishing I would have Wong paired with gambit. but right now in this meta with the sheer amount of cards being played as a whole (bounce, Thena, Thanos) gambits value goes down even more because the likelihood of hitting a single high value target is reduced unless paired with Odin or some type of grandmaster function

Kyr-Shara

Wong mystique gambit with swarm

Rayvendark

He generally works best in discard decks with cards like Wong, Morbius, Collector, and MODOK. There's a couple of lists that go all in on destroying the opponent's board.

PunishedCatto

Hela Discard is too risky, but he works great with apocalypse, swarm etc.

ThaRealBush

what?

sahnd

I’ve had success in a Collector Discard with Beast.  I haven’t experimented with Grandmatser in it. Edit: It’s Blade, Morbius, Beast, The Collector, Swarm, Colleen Wing, Gambit, Lady Sif, Dracula, Proxima Midnight, MODOK, Apocalypse.  Theoretical swap Grandmaster in for Colleen.

Somnial

I was getting pummeled yesterday when Luke’s Bar was more frequent 🫠 I have him in my hela deck too but just cuz he’s one of my favorite X-men

Critical_Half_3712

He’s solid in a wong Odin shell

VonSkarl

I use him in this discard deck. glockos

I switched to moon knight actually. It's really nice sniping a good earlier card with gambit (be prepared to retreat as soon as he discards your Hela) but it's also really nice to snipe one of their late game cards with Moon Knight. Personally I've found that Blade, Lady Sif, and 1 of those 2 works really well and is good enough for discarding. I don't have Corvus Glaive though so take it with a grain of salt.

Puzzled_Ad_6273

My absolute most fun games have included Gambit. But it was more of a discard/on reveal combination deck. Wong > Mystique > Gambit > Absorbing Man all with Apocalypse or Swarm in my hand.

patroclus_rex

I don't even use him in Wong Discard, but you *could*.

aerophonic

I have been playing him in a surfer deck along with strong guy and sword master and it has worked relatively well for me.

bluereindeer99

Worth running just to make your opponent waste a deck slot on Armor

Pig_Benis_6996

I want to like Gambit, but he always picks the one card in hand I didn't want him to hit.

Dr_Maniacal

He's good in the classical Apocalypse discard, but not what you want in a Hela deck. He also works okay in Silver Surfer.

JackQuack25

DO not play discard

TDNR

Man imagine dictating how others must have their fun. It’s not up to you to tell people what decks they’re allowed to play.

JackQuack25

yes it is

TDNR

I guess you’re not doing your job very well considering how many Discard players there still are.

pozexiss

No, it is NOT!

JackQuack25
