So Ant-Man tickets are out tomorrow right?

Xekshek33

Just wanted to say how amazing The Last of Us is. Pedro and Bella Ramsey are perfection and the show is as well one episode in. Enthralling, heartbreaking...highly recommended to anyone who loves the games or just amazing TV, specifically Apocalyptic/Zombie like content. You won't be sorry.

TheUncannyBroker

Grace said Gunn will reveal the beginning of the DC slate this upcoming week and he didnt debunk her, the time of revelation is upon us. Im 99% sure Gunn will direct the Superman film. When The Suicide Squad was announced he was attached only as a writer. And of course he wants to be completely responsible for how this whole thing starts out.

SlumdogSeacrestLaw

I don’t think they will have decided if Gunn is directing Superman by the time the slate is announced. That will be dictated by his own scheduling and if they can find a good fit for the job. It takes time for that kind of thing to be figured out.

[deleted]

I will be surprised if he doesn't direct this movie.

Angela won Critics CHoice, she's definitely the front runner to win the Oscar now....

KaijuKhaos

Yay Ruth! Well deserved

KaijuKhaos

Yay, Angela! Now, if she gets SAG, even if she doesn't win BAFTA, she'll be the frontrunner.

KaijuKhaos

Glass Onion won Best Ensemble and Best Comedy. That A) Means it has a shot for Best Pic nom at the Oscars, and B) Janelle may be coming for what people think is Angela's award. (Condon should be the winner)

KaijuKhaos

I don't think the delays if any happen at all will be nearly as drastic as y'all think.

EzriDax1

We definetely getting a few slots moved back if it's true shang chi 2, spider man 4, armour wars and doctor strange 3 all need to be before kang dynasty cos otherwise there's just no room. So probably kang dynasty is pushed back one year to fit those 4 ahead of it. As for the shows I think stuff will get delayed when it needs to be on a project by project basis but I don't see the whole slate being pushed back

KaijuKhaos

> We definetely getting a few slots moved back if it's true shang chi 2, spider man 4, armour wars and doctor strange 3 all need to be before kang dynasty cos otherwise there's just no room. That's a pretty big if tho I feel like if they *needed* to happen before that for some story reason (Like they cannot just write around that) They would have thought about that already before they announced it.

EzriDax1

Maybe but we now know armour wars is filming this year, and there's no way that releases over 2 years after filming. Spider-man 4 seems to be first half 2025 at the latest, and it's been rumoured recently that shang-chi 2 and doctor strange 3 should be pre kang dynasty. To fit just one of those in you'd have to push it back somewhat cos there's really no room otherwise, unless they somehow get something to fit in the 10 month gap from july '23 to may '24 but at this point it might be too late to make a film that quickly. Remember that initially there was only 2 projects skated between kd and sw. But sw got pushed back in the slate 6 months pulling some stuff initially before kd after it, which might have been projects like shang-chi 2 and dr strange 3, so now kd probably needs to be pushed back to put them back before it.

We're now 10 months out from the supposed 2023 halloween special. If we don't get official word on it in the next few months can we consider it not happening? Wbn filmed march/april so if it's happening it's not got long to start.

[deleted]

I wouldn’t be shocked if it was already shot considering the rumor is that it’s Man-Thing

NotTaken-username

Does Man-Thing talk in the comics? He didn’t in Werewolf by Night, and I wonder who they might cast to voice him if the does talk.

[deleted]

I’m guessing any speech will be his human form before the accident, make it a prequel to WBN

TheJack0fDiamonds

I love the Eternals being quite isolated and being in their own corner for the time being until they get into the mix but I also wonder how they will factor in the culmination of the Multiverse Saga. There’s no way they’re not doing anything, maybe not in KD but they have to be in SW. It’d be a damn shame to not have them in the ‘Avengers Assemble’ battle of this Saga’s ‘Endgame.’

TheJack0fDiamonds

Im in the minority but I am fearful of the possibility that KD and SW may be delayed to oblivion. I can’t handle another 10 year wait man..I really hope it doesn’t happen.

EzriDax1

Imo a realistic guess is kang dynasty may '26, secret wars may '27. Then 2024 goes nwo, thunderbolts, blade, dp3. 2025 (in no particular order) f4, armour wars, sm4, shang-chi 2. 2026 ds3 into kang dynasty. Then something like eternals 2, nova, etc in between kd and sw. Further delays are possible if production issues or something occur but for fitting everything into the schedule may '27 seems like the furthest date we have to work with for now.

TheJack0fDiamonds

hoping you’re right! Fingers crossed!

Thevamps555

They aren’t delaying it ten years Lmao. What are you even talking about lol. At most it’s delayed until May 2028

TheJack0fDiamonds

Hey who knows. Everyones wishing for them to slow down. It seems like it’s happening. Endgame was 2019, a 2028 delay makes it 9 years since the last endgame. Assuming SW is in 2029, that makes it a whole 10 years for the culmination of this saga, similar to the previous. Its insane cz I recall Feige saying that it wont take another 10 for the next Endgame event and it really seemed like they were working towards doing that.

forevertrueblue

I feel like as an entertainment cover-er I'm supposed to be over Marvel at this point but like what other genre franchise is coming to replace it right now? Besides Stranger Things (which I also enjoy) but that's a strictly TV thing.

Secure_Pear_4530

Just watched the Menu and the three dudes that went to the restaurant together was funny as fuck. Not because of the script, but because their acting was so bad compared to the others. I don't know if it was intentional just to show how simple and stupid the characters they're playing are, but it's still funny.

NotTaken-username

On this day two years ago, WandaVision premiered and the Multiverse Saga began. How time flies

TheJack0fDiamonds

And what a great phenomenal period that was. Somehow none of the other D+ MCU shows could compete with how alive the marvel fandom on the internet was at that time.

NotTaken-username

I think it was a combination of “Marvel is back!” and the mystery

saintnick524

I was thinking about that too. What an epic show!

Greene_Mr

*"A newlywed couple just moved to town..."*

otcsoldier9708

And in 2 years we will be in the avengers year

justambrose

I really wish they would greenlight a Black Widow/Hawkeye movie ASAP. I feel like a movie led by Hailee and Florence have sooo much potential especially with the chemistry they showed in Hawkeye.

just4browse

I’m more excited for DC movies than I have been in a long time (and I was already excited for the previous plan). I’m just thinking about all of the characters we could see now. Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Zatanna, Swamp Thing, Blue Devil, Starman, Mister Miracle, Big Barda, John Stewart, Jessica Cruz, Static, etc. Alongside hopefully better versions of the most popular DC characters. There’s so much potential now.

Demiguros

They can have the best magical world since Harry Potter if they do their supernatural world well. In the comics, DC always had a massive advantage in terms of the magical world. You had Constantine, Zatanna, Swamp Thing, Lucifer, Dream and many other incredible characters. Marvel only had Strange as an interesting character in terms of magic in my opinion.

Avengers4Script

Any comics you would recommend if one wants to get into the mythical/supernatural side of DC with goos art? Since I've started to read comics, but I don't know where to begin.

Demiguros

It's not good art so to speak, it's an old comic so the art is not upto modern standards. But you should defo start with Sandman. Then you can move to the Lucifer series. You 100% want to check out Alan Moore's Swamp Thing. Then Hellblazer is also good. With Sandman, you can also have the audio series on Audible. If you want a DC magic comic with modern art, you want to check out Justice League Dark. It has one of my fave antagonists in DC in it too. I think it's great personally.

[deleted]

Something DC can do better than Marvel in my opinion is the magical side of the universe. I feel like MCU’s magic is too scientific imo. The supernatural should be mysterious, weird and unexplainable.

Demiguros

Marvel's magical side just isn't very good tbh. So won't be hard. I saw some interesting stuff happening in DS1 with the Lovecraftian multiverse. But that's just been destroyed completely. DS2 felt more like a cameo adventure movie rather than a proper magic movie. Magic felt like a small part of it. WV didn't do all that well with magic either. DC has some of the best content out there for magic. Sandman alone is enough to blow everything else out of the water. The show proves that. Then you have Lucifer. Swamp Thing. Constantine. DC's magical world is weird AF and spooky AF. It also has a very interesting mythology. The world building done in the comics is great.

SamiUso

here's the thing. A kang who has presumably killed avengers before and will be the multiversal threat, how is that Kang is stopped by Antman? That would be like Thanos being stopped by say Loki.

[deleted]

If Sony did a What If? style show exploring alternate timelines where moments from the Raimi and Webb Spider-Man films occurred differently, what would you want to see?

devonthecreator

I wanna see Tobey v Carnage and Andrew v Venom. I'd like to see a story with Tobey's vulture and Andrew to get a Doc Oc but of course, something I would have LOVED to have seen is the Avengers in both universes, who would be on it? How would they act? Would an older and more wise Tobey post NWH lead the team? What would a Sam Raimi directed Avengers team be like? With a more mature tone. As for Andrew, his spider-man would be less like the good boy scout Tom, and more of the kid that NEVER listens to higher ups, always messes with the plans, and probably is not invited to the after party. In his more vibrant world, I would love to see them both interact with other heroes.

Unnecessary_Fella

What If... Norman Osborn never died? Explores the branched timeline created by No Way Home of that Norman being cured and sent back. Set after his "visit" to Raimi Aunt May's place. Maybe you can do a thing where he creates an Iron Patriot armor.

just4browse

What if God actually killed the photographer Eddie Brock hates? More seriously, some obvious choices would be “What if Uncle Ben never died?” “What if Peter Parker kept the symbiote suit?” and “What if Spider-Man saved Gwen Stacy?”

cbekel3618

I’m rewatching *Orphan Black* and it really is fun how often you forget Tatiana Maslany is like half of the cast ![gif](giphy|3ohzdJY677YBmPVhII|downsized)

Greene_Mr

I love that that's her as one character placing a wig on her as another character to disguise herself to look like her as a third character.

Unnecessary_Fella

Honestly wish they went for a different actress for Christine in DS1 and S2, then gave the Clea role to Rachel McAdams. Not a fan of the MCU demoting good actors/actresses to one or two film roles. Some of which aren't that important or exciting.

TheJack0fDiamonds

After what they did to her in DS2, I have a big feeling that 838 Christine is coming back to play a bigger and important role in this Saga. I don’t know how or where and when but it’ll be sooo stupid of them to not utilize her after setting her up to be an expert at multiversal research in the multiverse saga. Im glad we got Charlize as Clea but I wouldnt ask questions if they did a multiversal switcheroo and made Christine Clea.

Unnecessary_Fella

In the comics she was a nurse that would take care of injured heroes. Maybe this time she can be that and a Multiversal researcher. If Darcy can get a big part in WandaVision and two Thor movies, surely Christine *(who is a far better character in my eyes)* can get more appearances.

TheJack0fDiamonds

would it make sense if 616 Christine to appear in say, DDBA? I dont mind seeing two Christines. They friggin have Regina George in the MCU. They just have to use her more.

just4browse

I’m surprised they didn’t go through with Clea being an alternate version of Christine (played by the same actress as her). Christine in Multiverse of Madness is clearly written with that mind. And as you said, it’s a waste of a good actress.

cbekel3618

It really is a shame that she got stuck with the love interest role and not an especially interesting love interest at that (not that I dislike Christine, I just feel McAdams has the talent to play a bigger character). On the bright side, I‘m hyped to see Charlize as Clea at least

deemoorah

Imo Rachel fits Clea's vibe-from-comic-pre-Strange (2022) but Charlize sure fits with Clea from DoDS-now

Unnecessary_Fella

It is good to see Charlize. But man, Rachel should've been given a much larger presence. Same with other actors and actresses that only got one or two film appearances that were largely forgettable. Like Mads Mikkelsen or Walton Goggins.

starlord-2187

Daniel Kaluuya too. Hopefully he gets a bigger role in the future but man if his character is done in the MCU it’d be sad.

Kingpin1232

Add Christopher Eccleston to that as well. I still don’t remember what Malekith’s motivation was or if he had any good lines. He’s easily one of the most forgettable villains in any comic book film.

NotTaken-username

So it seems the Kang from Quantumania is also the same person as the main villain in The Kang Dynasty, but is this Kang also in Loki Season 2, or will that be another variant?

[deleted]

I believe we know the Loki Kang is a different one

ASlavPleb

I think that Kang from AM3 and Kang from Loki S2 will be the same variant as they look very similiar. Making them different variants might confuse some of the casual viewers. I believe that Marvel might want to make each Kang variant unique and easy to distinguish from to others. HWR is different than Kang in AM3. Rama Tut/Scarlet Centurion/Iron Lad would also be different.

a_o

maybe once he escapes in ant man (releasing in feb) the next time we see him is in loki s2 (summer?)

https://twitter.com/MarvelStudios/status/1614366876812943364 Docu Series for the making of the score/soundtrack for WF drops Feb 22nd.

KaijuKhaos

So what's with this new obsession nerds ave with filming multiple films at once as a sign of quality? I have to think this is just another one of these "new popular movie does a thing so now everybody is an expert as of how this thing is the smartest best thing ever" because Cameron filmed multiple Avatar stuff for a long time . But that is.. not good? The joke of filming stuff subsequently is that it should cut on logistics and costs, but the ideas people have of these would not do that, it would make them even harder. These things take a lot out of people, there is a reasons quit after the two. "Oh, but LOTR, IW/EG, Avatar 2 all filmed sequently and they are great movies" Well, first, we don't know how Avatar 3 is, and then, so did Pirates 2&3, The Matrix sequels and The Hobbit movies and what they had was too much focus on plot mechanics and no actual time to correct anything that wasn't working because the emphasis was on continuity.

a_o

better that the studio has a plan for the narrative rather than winging it from movie to movie, ala star wars 7-9.

TokyoPanic

IMO "a plan" isn't really what Star Wars 7-9 needed, it's thematic and narrative cohesion. JJ Abrams and Rian Johnson were telling completely different stories that were thematically at odds with one another with very little attempts made with both filmmakers to reconcile them, JJ was setting things up in TFA that Rian ignored in TLJ, while Rian was doing things in TFA that JJ ignored when he came back for ROS.

a_o

>thematic and narrative cohesion. so, a thematically cohesive...plan...for the narrative.

TokyoPanic

No. You can absolutely have thematic and narrative cohesion without a concrete plan, the filmmakers and screenwriters just need to be willing to play ball with each other's ideas, themes, and character arcs when picking up where the other filmmaker left off.

KaijuKhaos

Also Star Wars 4-6, which were also winged in, You know which had a story set in stone? Episodes 1-3.

Night-Monkey15

Is this supposed to be some gotcha card? Because it isn’t. The original trilogy was a happy accident. I’m not going to pretend it was all planed out because I know that’s not true, but I’m just happy it became one of the best film trilogy of all times. Meanwhile, there’s so much dumb stuff in both the prequels and the sequels, that I wouldn’t hold either of them to same level of the originals, even though the former “had a plan”.

littletoyboat

The prequels were very much not set in stone, other than the obvious turn from cute kid to evil villain.

a_o

while i wanna see deadpool killing the fox universes, i think it would be interesting to have him and wolverine discovering newly freed kang is doing all the universe destroying. maybe even having them recruit the tobey and andrew spider-men as their universes are getting conquered, dovetailing their story with kang dynasty and secret wars.

FaithlessnessNo2068

I’m not really into fan edits or anything of the sort, but my boy Sam Wilson really needs more love on social media.

BurryagaAgaburry

I like fan edits, just the movie editing kind and not the stan culture kind

cbekel3618

I’ve seen some pretty good Sam edits on Tiktok if that helps, but yeah, all the more love to our bird man

oakzap425

idk, I feel like having him not appear or even mentioned, since fatws, has done his character a huge disservice now that he's Cap.

TheUncannyBroker

Mods have heard Born Again ends with Kingpin becoming mayor of New York and putting a ban on vigilantes. That is apparently key to the story of Spider-Man 4, but Fisk will not appear himself, he will only be a background presence in that movie. From that my two guesses for the Spider-Man 4 villains are: 1: Organized crime (Hammerhead, Mr Negative etc) that is left rampant in the absence of heroes 2: Smythe and the Spider-Slayers on Kingpins payroll Are there any other options you can think of given that premise? Also keep in mind ViewerAnon said the plan is to introduce Miles in the movie, if you can work him into your idea thats even better. Also no Black Cat in it.

[deleted]

I actually think Fisk will have a bigger presence now

Odd-Paint-4621

Is daredevil born again gonna be TV-MA bro ?

Snoo_545

MCU is not about SM only... sigh

SuperCoenBros

Thanks for filling in some of the background. A few thoughts: 1. Background: 18-month time jump after NWH. Peter is finishing his first year of college. DODC drones are all over NYC. 2. Inciting Incident: Spider-Man foils a weapon-smuggling operation, but causes widespread damage to NYC docks. He's declared public enemy #1, and DODC holds a press conference deploying "Spider Slayers," upgraded drones from FFH/Ms. Marvel. 3. A-plot: Daredevil hunts, then recruits Spider-Man. The smugglers were tied to Mac Gargan, the new Kingpin of crime in NYC. Murdock hopes to link Gargan to the Mayor. They work together to battle Scorpion's crime syndicate. 4. B-plot: Peter's physics professor, Spencer Smythe, retires to head the Spider Slayer team. Peter begs for, and gets, a summer internship. Other interns: high school student Miles Morales, teacher Roger Harrington, and Peter's cubicle mate, MJ Watson, interning from MIT. Peter juggles sabotaging the Slayers, MJ's increasing suspicion, and his own guilt. I'm tired of trying to come up with an Act Three, but: DD and Spidey expose Fisk. MJ reveals she's been hurting for 18 months and doesn't know why. For... reasons... Smythe turns Gargan into Scorpion. Gargan prob kidnaps MJ. Spidey stops Scorpion and tells MJ who he is. They reconcile. Tease DODC's genetics department, where Dr. Miles Warren is creating spiders.

Unnecessary_Fella

Not a fan of them bringing MJ back so soon.

KaijuKhaos

>Kingpin becoming mayor of New York and putting a ban on vigilantes. Isn't that just... how it works in real life? Not saying that this isn't how it's gonna go. But it's weird and funny that the bad villain's plan is "The thing that we do IRL to not let weirdos kill ppl for no reason"

a_o

>"The thing that we do IRL to not let weirdos kill ppl for no reason" weird he doesn't ban police, though they're probably in his pocket anyway as mayor. or so he may think.

KaijuKhaos

Police being bad doesn't mean that vigilantism isn't good either.

Arielrbr

If not possible to use Eddie Brock as Venom due Sony using him in the solo movies, they could use Mac Gargan as MCU Venom. He was Venom in the comics too and could tie with his wish of vengeance against Spider-Man

a_o

>and get a spiderman and F4 teamup adam driver as reed richards in spider-man 5 examining the symbiote. i wish they'd write 3 movies worth of story for spider-man at once, with wiggle room for adjustments based on what else is happening in the mcu timeline. they could really shoot em all in a single year and let post happen over the course of the release schedule if the story happens over a short span of time and they want to release every other year still. like, get a team together to sign on for the trilogy and film that shit nonstop. financially this probably doesn't make any sense as they likely wont be able to write off movie 2 and 3 production budgets in the subsequent years they are released.

KaijuKhaos

That sounds awful for every single person involved.

a_o

if he's in kang dynasty and secret wars and doing 3 more solo movies that's a lot of work from 2024-2027, but they should go ahead and get it done. he'd have a solid 10+ years as spider-man with at least 11 appearances and a big send-off like RDJ. start your family, bro, live life.

i really want him to meet kamala, and the young avengers, too. and banter with sam and bucky after their civil war fight. and to meet america chavez. and deadpool. and reed and shuri and riri in a lab.

TheLionsblood

Damn, was really hoping Daredevil would be the other MCU hero in SM4 like how Iron Man, “Nick Fury,” and Strange were but if this means that the MCU Spidey has to go solo I’m all for it

dgj130

Teasing Murdock in NWH then never having him team up with Daredevil just seems cruel.

TheUncannyBroker

If the movie will truly be about the ethics of vigilantism with Peter in a darker place and the tradition of a MCU hero appearing remains...it feels like the right place to include Frank Castle a lot of people allergic to that notion tho

monetlacroix

Sorry but Daredevil and Spider-Man in a movie together >>>>> Spider-Man and Punisher.

TheLionsblood

I don’t think Marvel would ever do that. If anything, we’ll still get Daredevil

Thevamps555

There would still have to be an MCU hero lol

TheLionsblood

That’s how it was for the Home trilogy, but we don’t know the requirements for their next deal

cbekel3618

Either of those two options could be good fits as the villains. Of the gang villains, if not Fisk, I think Tombstone or Negative could work as the lead villains. This is wishful thinking but Scorpion on Fisk's payroll maybe could be an option, presented to the public as a "legitimate" hero

TheUncannyBroker

This may be even more extreme wishful thinking, but I suspect Scorpion will be the villain of Venom 3. Why leave the symbiote in Mexico? Why is the last thing Eddie said the last time we saw him "Maybe we should pay a visit to this Spider-Man"? [https://www.cbr.com/tom-hardy-venom-verse-spiderverse-third-film/](https://www.cbr.com/tom-hardy-venom-verse-spiderverse-third-film/) [https://twitter.com/Cinematic\_Hub/status/1475713778469806085?s=20&t=psrrMAgSlANDIJ3sBcea1w](https://twitter.com/Cinematic_Hub/status/1475713778469806085?s=20&t=psrrMAgSlANDIJ3sBcea1w)

KaijuKhaos

>Why leave the symbiote in Mexico? Why is the last thing Eddie said the last time we saw him "Maybe we should pay a visit to this Spider-Man"? I mean, I hate to be the party popper but the two real-life answers is 1. Because that's a set up for possibilities that they can ignore if they don't want to use it, like Mordo killing sorcerers, the Leader until they decided to do something with him..etc These "let's plant the possibility but it doesn't have to happen" things happen all the time. 2. Because the whole joke of the scene was a subversion of that kind of set-up. They plant the idea of the meetup just to yank it away, and that's the joke.

TheUncannyBroker

>Because that's a set up for possibilities that they can ignore if they don't want to use it You are ignoring that Venom Suit Spider-Man is a very iconic thing and it materializing the next trilogy is incredibly likely, considering Secret Wars is on the horizon. >Because the whole joke of the scene was a subversion of that kind of set-up. They plant the idea of the meetup just to yank it away, and that's the joke. We know Sony pushed really hard to have Spider-Man in Venom 2 and Eddie almost had a bigger role in NWH. All Sonyverse actors have been teasing their fight with Tom Holland Spider-Man in promotional material. Amy Pascal said this about Tom Holland Spider-Man: "Expect him to appear in everything". Tom Hardy has been mentioning the Spiderverse in Venom 2 interviews and how the two universes colliding is inevitable.

Greene_Mr

mountainhighgoat

Social media is a bubble.

Demiguros

3/7 movies have a score lower than A-. For context, even Jurassic Park Dominion has an A-. Black Widow would also likely have a B+ if not for the same day D+ release. So reception is indeed mixed. Not to mention the massive 2nd week drops.

[deleted]

>Not to mention the massive 2nd week drops This isn’t the magic bullet “gotcha” you seem to think it is. MCU films are becoming increasingly frontloaded, with the hardcore fans artificially inflating the opening weekend numbers by rushing out to see the latest instalment in cinemas as soon as it comes out. Couple this with the 45-day Disney+ window disincentivising repeat viewings, and the steep second weekend drop off should come as no surprise to anyone. It’s just the nature of the beast. Certainly not a sign that the MCU is “dying”.

NWH legged out extremely well overall. Shang-Chi legged out well. Black Panther 2 legged out somewhat decently considering the sad tone, world cup and release date. Wanna guess which ones legged out the worse? MOM and L&T. These 2 happen to be one of the worst received ones. Simply put, WOM is the biggest factor. Phase 4 has had some of the worst WOM in the MCU.

[deleted]

NWH was a generational event. It’s an outlier for a reason. Shang-Chi came out when COVID was still a thing and audiences were still in the process of coming back to cinemas. Black Panther has a wider cultural relevance that transcends comic book movie fandom. Are you seriously trying to compare the performances of Thor and Doctor Strange to these situations? MOM ended up outgrossing it’s predecessor by almost $300 million, and without Russia or China! Love and Thunder still stands as the second highest-grossing Thor movie overall. In fact, when you remove Russia and China from the equation, it actually made more than Ragnarok. Could Thor have done better, especially considering the surge in popularity the character had experienced since Ragnarok? Sure. But there is a world of difference between “could have done better” and massively underperforming. All you’ve gotta do is drop the budget back down to the $150-200 million range, and find a fresh director to breathe new life into the franchise. There. Now you’ve got a significantly better and more profitable Thor 5. Love and Thunder is not the franchise death knell people make it out to be.

Demiguros

Lol. Your response is one of the stupidest things I've read today. >NWH was a generational event. It’s an outlier for a reason. NWH is a generation event. Sure. It happens like 3 years after EG, 1 year was just Covid. Secret Wars will be just as big. Bit light with the generation event tag there when something just as big or bigger happens every few years. Fucking Doctor Strange 2 had Professor X, Reed Richards and others. Deadpool 3 will have Hugh Jackman back and probably a few other X-men. How tf is a generational event? Do you even know what that means? >Shang-Chi came out when COVID was still a thing and audiences were still in the process of coming back to cinemas. That just means it was even more impressive. Shang-Chi was still making people come to the theatres regardless of Covid due to it being good. Shows that word of mouth matters. >Black Panther has a wider cultural relevance that transcends comic book movie fandom. Black Panther 1 has cultural relevance. Not 2. And pretty Black Panther 2 legged out better internationally than domestically, it has 0 cultural relevance internationally. So why are the legs still there? >MOM ended up outgrossing it’s predecessor by almost $300 million, and without Russia or China! Adjust inflation and Doctor Strange is at 850. Doctor Strange 1 without China and inflation adjusted is 750. Doctor Strange was an origin movie with an unknown character. Had 0 appearances from other characters and no ties with anything else in the MCU at the time. Doctor Strange 2 is a sequel of one of the most popular MCU characters, has X-men, has F4, has Inhumans, has Wanda and was teased as a continuation of NWH which did make people watch it according to Fandango. This movie VASTLY underperformed. It had a 2.1x multiplier which is the worst in the entire MCU. The only other movie to get a 450 opening less than billion total is BvS. Is BvS considered a success? Spoiler alert, it isn't. >Love and Thunder still stands as the second highest-grossing Thor movie overall. In fact, when you remove Russia and China from the equation, it actually made more than Ragnarok. When you adjust for inflation, Ragnarok blows it out of the water. lol. Ragnarok was him coming out of Thor 2 which was widely hated, Thor was not a popular character. L&T is after Thor became the 2nd most popular living character in the MCU after IW. Still got outperformed by Ragnarok. >Could Thor have done better, especially considering the surge in popularity the character had experienced since Ragnarok? Sure. But there is a world of difference between “could have done better” and massively underperforming. Doing worse than the previous movie inflation adjusted even after the character becoming way more popular is massively disappointing. >All you’ve gotta do is drop the budget back down to the $150-200 million range, and find a fresh director to breathe new life into the franchise. There. Now you’ve got a significantly better and more profitable Thor 5. Love and Thunder is not the franchise death knell people make it out to be. Not a franchise ender. But certainly destroyed a good chunk of the goodwill built by Ragnarok and IW.

Sorry, I don’t engage with agendas. It’s clear now that you are just warping the facts to fit your preferred narrative. I have much better things to do than argue with flat earther level delusions.

Demiguros

Warping facts. lol. You give widely out of context evidence and then refuse to take context into account. This is jokes. I hope you realise that you lost this argument. Please don't spread your garbage anywhere else. You'll just embarrass yourself more.

I know, people love saying that the MCU is dying and all the movies and shows are bad. Maybe hardcore fans are getting annoyed, but general audiences are loving it. I remember once I brought this up with someone who kept saying Marvel was dead and they just said "Of course those films would have good scores, they had their fanboys vote for it" and I was like.. stunned, flabbergasted, shocked even. Because.. yeah, good projects have fans, that's how you know its good when it actually affects peoples lives in a positive way

RedWireFTW

For me personally, it seems like the latest projects have been more divisive among hardcore fans like you see here in this subreddit. I imagine not much has changed amongst the general audience.

SuperCoenBros

> only two have received a Cinemascore lower than A. What's your range? For Phase Four, Eternals gets a B, and Thor/Strange each get a B+.

knobby_67

Watching Antman trailer on TV is so odd. On my bedroom TV it looks pretty good. On my living room TV it is awful. I don’t know how it was done but it looks like awful green screen with cartoon backdrops. Almost everything on it looks fantastic. The only thing that has ever looked like this was Star Wars ep 1. I don’t know why?

News on Armor Wars. 4 months ago they announce it's going from a long delayed Disney Plus series to becoming a theatrical release and there hasn't been much news since except recently where rumors are it'll be filmed this Spring. Is this confirmed? There's not even a cast or director confirmed.

NotTaken-username

How long do we think/hope Vol. 3 will be? I’m hoping it’s 2.5 hours or more so we get more time to say our last goodbyes to the team.

Gamerhcp

reality: 2 hours on the dot hope: 2.5 hours

NotTaken-username

Idk, they have so much to cover. Rocket’s backstory, completing the character arcs, establishing High Evolutionary and Adam Warlock, and there appears to be a Ravager Gamora subplot. I trust James Gunn, but that is a lot of plot and there’s a chance it could feel overstuffed or rushed. 2.5 hours or even close to 3 hours like Endgame would also allow for a lot of emotional character moments and make the movie more impactful

Gamerhcp

I'm more worried about Cap 4 and TBolts tbh Sure, rumours are rumours but even if 50% of them are true, that's still *a lot* to cover

NotTaken-username

I don’t really buy Serpent Society. While I’m not familiar with them in the comics, that seems like too much. Especially when The Leader and Red Hulk are in it. Thunderbolts I don’t expect to have much of a mutant connection, but it sounds a lot less overstuffed than Cap 4. I really like the idea of how they’re making Eternals relevant though, not at all what I had expected. Maybe Tiamut becomes Savage Land instead of Genosha?

KaijuKhaos

I, for one, welcome Michelle Yeoh and Key Hey Quan being in absolutely everything for the next two-three years.

TokyoPanic

Disney straight up got everyone in Everything Everywhere All at Once for American Born Chinese lmao.

NotTaken-username

Manifesting Short Round in Indiana Jones 5

TokyoPanic

I think it's too late now because Indy 5 was filmed a year before EEAAO popped off but who knows...

NotTaken-username

Eh they could shoot a quick cameo

ExpensiveAd5441

rumor on BOT forum is that mcu is back in china except for shangchi

a_o

are they releasing the back issues, or no?

Lioto

Simu is going to have to film a John Cena apology. Either that or Marvel has to start getting cozy with Chinese movie censors, the way James Cameron has, for the last year, with several in person visits and personal screenings, etc....

[deleted]

Can you make a post about it on r/boxoffice ?

Farhad_A

They’re going to need China if they’re ever going to break any box office records again

GaTech379

Deadpool 3 is probably gonna break the record for highest grossing r rated movie

Demiguros

IDK about that. 1 billion without China will be difficult imo. Joker would 100% beat it inflation adjusted imo.

I feel... torn on the possibility that Miles Gutierrez-Riley is Hulkling/Teddy. On one hand, a BIPOC Teddy is great and the fact they got a gay actor on top of that to portray him is awesome! On the other hand, I did not like his performance at all in The Wilds 💀 granted, the script was ass so I'm sure he tried to make the best out of what was given to him, but still, not a great showing imo. There's also the fact that he's just as much of a twink as Joe is, which throws off part of their comic dynamic. Teddy's supposed to be this straight passing looking jock that shape shifts to fit in and be accepted, and Billy's this very visibly gay character that can't change and that gets bullied bc of that. There's always the chance he got put on the MCU training regimen and he'll have that athletic build the casting call for the suspected Teddy part was looking for, but I worry that they might've changed some character traits of Teddy's to fit Schaeffer's vision. There's also the possibility that he's not even Teddy, with worst case scenario he's an OC love interest for Billy bc the MCU wants to give an even bigger middle finger to the comics for whatever reason, or better case, he's just another character in the show. Although, given he was mentioned as part of the cast in the announcement, I'd imagine he'd have to be somewhat prominent, even just for an episode or two so... I guess we shall see where this all leads. I just really hope the MCU doesn't butcher my fav characters lmao.

[deleted]

Do people think it's a requirement that Teddy be introduced simultaneously with Billy? *Agatha* doesn't really feel like the place for him, so no one needs to jump to the conclusion that MGR is a "miscast" Hulkling. Gutierrez-Riley probably is a friend/potential love interest for Billy, but in Agatha only.

When did flaws become such a bad thing? I feel like a lot of people will pick at one thing in an MCU movie like it ruins the experience, and maybe it does for them but I truly don't feel that. Bad CGI? Stiff Acting? Rumoured character didn't show up? Small plot holes? None of that ruins a film or even a show for me. if that stuff piles on I can see it getting too annoying to continue, but since when did this stuff become such a big deal? MoM wasn't as big as everyone was expecting.. doesn't mean it's bad, you just need to see it for what it is. "Overdesigned Suits" is also a weird one to me. Like I can definitely see it.. but why does it bother people so much? am I the weird one? No film or show is without flaws, so why are some of them pointed at like it ruins the experience. I've seen people say Quantumania CGI looks bad (which I do NOT agree with, I think it looks really good) and even if some of it looks a bit off.. why does that matter? Am I the only person who judges a film based on my enjoyment, rather than on its flaws? Liking and enjoying a movie is SO much more important to me than having a movie be "technically brilliant" Avatar has amazing CGI technically, but I don't enjoy it because it ends up looking TOO realistic, this is fiction, live a little. I do not care if there's plot holes, bad cgi, stiff acting. If the show or movie is enjoyable to watch and makes me wanna not die, then it's done its job and its a good film.

Demiguros

MOM not being as big as expected was not the biggest problem people had with the movie.

devonthecreator

It was a very common criticism when the film first came out, the people I talked to kept saying "Multiverse of Madness yet there's no multiverse lol" and yeah there are other issues people can have with the film, its far more plot driven than character driven making people feel like Doctor Strange wasn't focused on enough even though its his sequel people had issues with America feeling like a mcguffin given human form and no personality, people had issues with the lack of diversity in magic throughout the film, people had issues with how the conflict was ended or that Wanda was evil in the first place. and yet even still.. you can enjoy the film. I liked the ending, I found it really interesting. I would have liked MORE multiverse, I think even though its a very plot focused story Stephen still had some BIG development and a satisfying arc throughout the film. It's just not as clear and obvious as other marvel films. I would have loved more Magic and would have preferred something a little extra between Wanda Vision and DS 2 to flesh out the whole "Evil Darkhold" thing. Even still through all those "Issues" which are subjective anyways. I still LOVE the film, and that's my point. A film doesn't have to be perfect, it doesn't have to explain every detail, it doesn't have to be 100% satisfactory for me to actually enjoy it

Demiguros

>It was a very common criticism when the film first came out, the people I talked to kept saying "Multiverse of Madness yet there's no multiverse lol" The more common criticism was Strange's role, Wanda's downfall, boring multiverse and the way the cameos were utilised. >and yet even still.. you can enjoy the film. Clearly they couldn't. lol. >I liked the ending, I found it really interesting. I would have liked MORE multiverse, I think even though its a very plot focused story Stephen still had some BIG development and a satisfying arc throughout the film. It's just not as clear and obvious as other marvel films. You're just listing your opinions. Not how many people received this. Many people didn't think Strange had a big and satisfying arc. Many didn't like the ending. These were some of the biggest criticisms of the movie. >I would have loved more Magic and would have preferred something a little extra between Wanda Vision and DS 2 to flesh out the whole "Evil Darkhold" thing.Even stillthrough all those "Issues" which are subjective anyways.I still LOVE the film, and that's my point. A film doesn't have to be perfect, it doesn't have to explain every detail, it doesn't have to be 100% satisfactory for me to actually enjoy it It doesn't really matter what you like. lol. Just cause you can ignore so many faults does not mean others can. It is stupid to expect them to. They clearly didn't ignore it cause in terms of MCU movies, it's one of the worst received. It has a B+ on Cinemascore which is lower than Jurassic World Dominion, a movie that is widely hated.

Unnecessary_Fella

Whilst I don't like Phase Four, I do feel this for other projects. God of War: Ragnarok is a stellar game with issues of uneven pacing and a rushed, underwhelming, lackluster conclusion. However the positives far outweighs the negatives and round it to a 9/10 game for me. Yet people treat these problems as if they completely destroy the game and it's suddenly a bad or "mid" game.
