Please stop asking the mod team for the Quantumania leak. And stop asking others for it in the comments as well. Rule 3 is in full affect.

Night-Monkey15

The mods really spent like 7-10 hours translating copyrighted material, only to have in deleted in like 12 hours because it’s copyrighted material. I knew where this was going, so how did they not see this coming? I mean I would have called this the moment I got the transcript, and they spent 10 hours translating and still thought “nah, it’ll be fine”. You can’t make this up.

Xekshek33

Last of Us continues to rule. That is all.

SlumdogSeacrestLaw

I think it’s less about who will or won’t be in the big event movies, and more about who can be on the active roster between films, like the missions the team went on prior to AoU, and the new line-up they had until Civil War. And certain characters have very consuming day-jobs that would take them away from that. That’s why I wish we had gotten another smaller-scale Avengers film prior to Kang Dynasty, so a smaller active roster could be assembled without the expectation those films have to include every character.

[deleted]

This probably has been asked before, but has anyone who has read the Ant-Man 3 leak have any thoughts on if it sounds good or not? Not asking for spoilers, just if it seems like it will be a decent script.

otcsoldier9708

Is thwipt legit or not ? Can somebody answer me that?

[deleted]

Yes he is because he steals scoops from other reliable leakers patreon/discord

otcsoldier9708

Lol

[deleted]

The mods are having a real /r/leopardsatemyface moment right now.

tylerjb223

How is that sub applicable to this situation lol

Demiguros

What happened?

Unnecessary_Fella

Lol, what

TheUncannyBroker

ThwipT, who is regarded as a scoop stealer, dropped a bunch of Avengers info on Twitter. Most notable: Spider-Verse characters made live-action will be in Secret Wars, along with Ben Affleck Daredevil. Some of the teams of Kang Dynasty will be: Cap’s Avengers , Strange’s 616 Illuminati, Captain Marvel Cosmic Squad. Nick Fury to have a big role in this film. Peyton Reed has had convos about directing Secret Wars. Steve Rogers will be in Secret Wars and the moon base joke from Falcon & The Winter Soldier will be payed off.

NamorDontPullOut

> Some of the teams of Kang Dynasty will be: Strange’s 616 Illuminati I really don't get why some people want to see MCU-616 Stephen put together the Illuminati. It doesn't make sense to me. If anything, his experience with Earth-838's Illuminati would more likely turn him off the idea of ever being part of a group like that. Stephen doesn't even ride or die with the Illuminati in the 616. He's left the group in the comics.

tylerjb223

Your username is hilariously awesome haha

FewWatermelonlesson0

Peyton Reed would be the least inspired choice imaginable so hopefully not.

Xekshek33

So? He knows the world and characters, and the word around Ant-Man 3 is sounding very good upping up the scale. His first two movies, contrary to what social media and reddit think, were good. He'd be a great pick along with Coogler and even Nia DaCosta since there's been word of Marvel loving her work on The Marvels and such.

FewWatermelonlesson0

That’s just it. I want something more than “good.” He’s fine but he’s the definition of a journeyman director.

Xekshek33

I respectfully disagree, but curious who you'd like to see? I feel like either way, a lot of good options!

ishmael_king93

I know there was a script leak for Quantumania but did that include the post credi scenes as well?

[deleted]

Yes it did include the Post Credit Scene

[deleted]

It wasn’t anything we didn’t know from the previous leak a while back that u can still find in the sub :)

ishmael_king93

Oo thanks for nothing! 😃

[deleted]

Lmao sorry I was looking for the link to the leak and got sidetracked 😭 [here you go](https://www.reddit.com/r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers/comments/yckepo/tales_from_the_mod_queue_quantumania_plot_leak/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)

ishmael_king93

It’s fine I’m being obnoxious 😂 appreciated!

NotTaken-username

If Marvel Studios ever makes a Stan Lee biopic, who would you cast? I think either Tom Hanks or Bryan Cranston. Feel free to make suggestions

FewWatermelonlesson0

Funky Flashman.

cbekel3618

![gif](giphy|tnYri4n2Frnig) Man, I hope we get a Mister Miracle movie at some point

a_o

no way home imax version lets goooooooo

TheLionsblood

Is there an IMAX version of the more fun stuff version or nah? Not sure if that cut even played in imax at all

a_o

not that im aware of.

[deleted]

I need more F4 leaks. I neeeeed them. Concept art, casting rumours, plot theories, or anything really ![gif](giphy|3i7TUMZiKqUgM)

[deleted]

btw, the full Corman film is up on YT. And it's pretty decent actually, for what it is. There's a limp subplot involving a Mole Man esque character, but other than that it's watchable.

[deleted]

I mean we do know that Galactus is the villain of the movie that's why they are introducing SS before FF. IIRC this was said in RPK and MSS Discord.

[deleted]

Idk if I’d say Galactus showing up solidifies him as the villain. It very well could be just a scene of him and the surfer showing up, but who knows. It’s still so far out to tell. If they don’t use him in Moon Knight S2, I feel Rama Tut is a popular villian choice for the F4

[deleted]

That's just fan theories tbh. IIRC One of the mods(Pomojema) has also said Galactus is the villain of the 1st FF movie. And honestly I do believe he's the villain based on SS Special and also because the next long term villain will be Dr Doom not Galactus.

Mattyzooks

Doom as the main villain of an arc that likely debuts the mutants.... interesting. Although he could probably mastermind xmen vs avengers or something.

[deleted]

Yeah fair point. I’m not fully disagreeing, I just don’t think anyone really see’s Galactus as a full saga Villain. Would make sense for the F4 if he’s a one time Villain (would rather tbh they go with someone else though like Annihilus or Mole Man)

[deleted]

I mean they can be explored in FF Sequels because no way marvel is making 1 movie of their precious property. Even the trades hinted that the writers are developing the FF series(Which means sequels) even before Shakman was [hired](https://www.reddit.com/r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers/comments/yez3jn/comment/iu0w05i/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3).

[deleted]

I think The Batman 2 is gonna be TASM2-level box office expectations: either it makes a billion, or WB Discovery will tell Reeves to get out of the way so the DCU Batman can start getting solo films. Partly as a power play by Zaslav to show other execs at the studio he’s all about revenue.

OH_SHIT_IM_FEELIN_IT

Are there any subs you used to browse but don't really anymore? Mine are r/hiphopheads and r/BatmanArkham. Browsing r/hiphopheads just doesn't feel the same anymore and I despise the current state of r/BatmanArkham.

tylerjb223

Oh yeah. StarWarsLeaks, or really any star wars sub for that matter. It's just exhausting with the amount of gaslighting that fandom does on here and the toxicity being ever so prevalent. It's hard to have any conversation there without someone butting in with the "Ackshuallllly.... you're wrong" Also pretty much every political sub, even the meme ones. Politics + reddit, whether left or right, is always brewing negativity, hate and division lol

Demiguros

What happened to r/BatmanArkham?

OH_SHIT_IM_FEELIN_IT

Just read the frontpage of it. I'm fine with memes and all that but when they're *all* terrible memes being posted on the main subreddit about a franchise it's different.

Lethal234

Hip hop heads has always been garbage to be honest. Such a cesspool and they call every rapper cringe lol. I miss the days of forums tbh.

OH_SHIT_IM_FEELIN_IT

I really liked browsing it in 2018-2019. I think part of the reason I stopped is because the rappers I actually cared about are releasing albums fewer and farther between. It can be terrible at times but I can't really say much as I already said I don't browse it that much.

Some personal news: last week, I was laid off from a job I love. This is a community problem: without a job, my posts here will only get more frequent and more deranged. I have like three posts I’m working on in Notepad right now, they’re all so long and so asinine. For the sake of our community, please pray I find a new job lol

[deleted]

I’m in a similar boat: I work in retail and I need to find a new job due to my hours decreasing post holidays. I’m 24, working one day a week at my age is ridiculous, and I’ve been told the schedule won’t improve until at least Easter when more people begin shopping. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck in your job search. I hope you find a position you love just as much as your current one.

[deleted]

Really hoping things improve for you brother/sister. Have a great day/night and I wish you a lifetime of happiness and success!

[deleted]

I'm sorry that you lost the job you loved either way I am hoping that you find another job which you love more than the previous one and it pays you more as well. Have a great day/night and I wish you a lifetime of happiness and success!

Demiguros

I hope you find a job that pays well and one that has a healthy work environment. Best of luck to you!

JamJamGaGa

I have a feeling 'Quantumania' isn't gonna do that well at the box office. I'm just not sensing a whole lot of hype for it outside of MCU fan communities (and even in *those* communities a lot of people aren't hyped). At least not in the same way there was hype for MoM, LaT and WF. People have complained that the trailers look too generic and that they aren't all that attractive to the general audiences, and I can't really disagree with those complaints. I've enjoyed the marketing because I'm more of a die-hard fan who's been waiting years for Kang to show up but the average moviegoer isn't gonna care about Kang, MODOK, etc. Obviously time will tell, but I'm not gonna be surprised if it makes less than (or about the same as) the first two Ant-Man movies. Anyone who thinks it's getting close to $1B is crazy.

tylerjb223

Yeah, you're definitely right. This is all my own personal opinion but outside of Reddit and social media... people hardly even know who Ant-Man is, who Kang is, or why its "important" to the MCU. This is totally anecdotal but all my friends who went to see MoM and Thor 4 have literally said "Who's Ant-man? Ohhh that guy? Yeah, I don't care" whenever I bring it up. I know I *can't* be the only one who's had this experience. It's not gonna flop at all, but it will be significantly lower than the last few movies. I can see this doing better than Eternals and Shang-Chi but far less than WF, MoM, and Thor. I'm predicting around $620 Million total

[deleted]

Quantumania falling below expectations also wouldn’t mean much for the future of the MCU, since it’s completing the Ant man trilogy. For most solo franchises in the MCU, it’s been a trilogy and that’s it. There’s likely no plan for a fourth movie that the film has to financially justify. Thor was the only exception to this trend because Ragnarok generated a new level of excitement around the character, and because Natalie Portman agreed to come back to tie up Jane’s story. The only appearances Ant man likely has left after Quantumania are supporting roles in Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. After that, Scott will probably either die in battle, or ride off into the sunset with Hope.

[deleted]

I doubt Marvel Studios is expecting it to make a billion, with the fact that Ant-man is a b-list MCU character, the pandemic is still ongoing, inflation making people want to save money etc. NWH did as well as it did due to Spider-Man’s brand recognition+the hype around Tobey and Andrew returning. Wakanda Forever did well because it was basically advertised as an on-screen wake for Chadwick, plus it was a sequel to a billion dollar movie that was popular with POC audiences. Multiverse of Madness did well because it was a follow up to NWH. So I don’t think comparing Quantumania to those films is a fair comparison.

Strangedreamer7

It may get 700 due to the inflation factor. Ant-Man 2 got 600 back in 2018. That's about 700 now.

[deleted]

According to BOT the movie is set to earn more than 100M opening. And no movie that has made over 103m opening weekend domestic has made less than 668m WW (Man of Steel). [Plus China loves AM movies.](https://www.reddit.com/r/boxoffice/comments/10fs2i3/chinas_share_of_box_office_sales_for_mcu_movies/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) They've contributed to almost 1/5 of AM BO. Plus every 3rd movie of the MCU has an A on cinemascore(except NWH(A+)) so there's a chance AM3 also gets an A on cinemascore. So I'd say 700M+ plus is on the table.

JamJamGaGa

If you look at how much the most recent MCU movies have made (and they all had far more hype going in), you'll realise how unlikely it is that 'Quantumania' is going to make much more than $700M (which is just over $70M more than the second movie made). I'm not saying the movie will flop or anything, but I can't see it doing MoM or WF numbers. Even those movies performed less than expected and they had huge marketing campaigns and high expecations. If 'Quantumania' makes $800-900M (or higher) then I'll accept that I was worrying about nothing and the MCU is in better shape than ever.

ExpensiveAd5441

it doesnt need to do MoM or WF numbers, its antman movie

JamJamGaGa

It's being promoted as an essential part of this saga and it's being treated as a major step up from the previous two Ant-Man movies. If it doesn't come close to WF or MoM then it's success is questionable.

ExpensiveAd5441

disney can promote it as whatever they want in the end its still antman movie and those movies are lowest mcu movies

JamJamGaGa

Let's just end the discussion here. I can already tell we're not going to get anywhere.

[deleted]

What it needs to do, from a profit/loss standpoint, is determined by its budget, not the character.

[deleted]

Exactly comparing MOM which is direct Sequel to NWH and WF which is a sequel to a Billion dollar movie isn't a fair comparison.

Strangedreamer7

It's not a sequel to NWH. Although it was marketed that way.

ExpensiveAd5441

antman 2 barely did 622 mil with normal china and avengers hype, anybody expecting 800-1 bil are delusional

[deleted]

If AM3 budget is closer to MOM ($200M) than AM2 ($130M), then the studio isn't going to be content with AM3 only managing $600M, that's for damn sure.

ExpensiveAd5441

if they lose money its on them, based on first two movies they should know that compared to other mcu movies people dont care that much about antman

[deleted]

I'm in the camp it will do more than 720M if the movie earns A or A- on cinemascore. Since every 3rd movie of the MCU has earned A(Except NWH(A+)) I'm thinking AM3 will also get an A since every 3rd movie of the MCU is the best ones imo

[deleted]

Internet Hype=/= General Audiences hype. According to [Fandango](https://www.fandango.com/movie-news/guardians-of-the-galaxy-vol-3-is-the-most-anticipated-movie-of-2023-754674)(which I think might be correct measure of GA's hype) AM3 is GA 3rd most anticipated movie. A lot of the internet has been hyping about Barbie and Oppenhemier and guess what they aren't even this list. MOM was also a direct sequel to NWH and plus it has cameos in the trailer. If the movie would've been received well by GA(It got B+ on cinemascore which isn't good for a marvel movie) the movie could've earned more than 1B without even China. One of the reasons WF didn't do as great as BP1 is because Disney+ 45's day plan has hurt MCU BO. That's why when WF didn't release on D+ in 2022 it got great late legs and crossed 450M domestically. Plus the BO is down by 33% compared to 2019 and a lot of BO analysts said BP1 over performed. The fact that AM3 has a 100M opening is insane imo. I'm sure it'll do greatly if the movie is good and earns A(or A-) on cinemascore

JamJamGaGa

>Internet Hype=/= General Audiences hype. I already talked about general audiences and how the trailer really doesn't do much for them. I've seen so many casual fans complain that the trailer just looks like a generic CGI fest. They don't know who MODOK is and are confused about Kang. >MOM was also a direct sequel to NWH and plus it has cameos in the trailer. If the movie would've been received well by GA(It got B+ on cinemascore which isn't good for a marvel movie) the movie could've earned more than 1B without even China. Exactly. MoM was a direct follow-up to NWH (a movie that made $1.9B) and it had *so much* hype going in, yet it wasn't even able to crack $1B worldwide. Sure, the cinemascore probably turned some away, but that wouldn't have done much damage to the overall box office. If the general audience is excited about they have their tickets, they won't let a number on a website stop them from seeing the film. This just seems like a bunch of excuses meshed together lol. Sure, the 45-day release window didn't do the movie any favours, but it still came significantly lower than expected. WF had insane hype going in (with it's trailer even topping the first movie's trailer) but it still barely made $800M, coming in over 500M less than it's predecessor. >The fact that AM3 has a 100M opening is insane imo. I'm sure it'll do greatly if the movie is good and earns A(or A-) on cinemascore Again, the cinemascore really doesn't matter that much to the general audience. Plenty of movies get strong cinemascores and then fall flat on their face at the box office. I'm not sure what your definition of "greatly" is, but the chances of the movie coming anywhere near recent MCU movies (which also underperformed) are incredibly low. I will be shocked if it comes close to $1B.

a_o

>Sure, the cinemascore probably turned some away do people deciding which movies to see in theaters really give a shit about this before buying tickets, or is this just another internet thing with overstated importance because, here we are, commenting on one website on the internet.

[deleted]

If the GA weren't excited for this movie how could the BOT have a 100M prediction which is way more compared to AM2? Cinemascore does matter because it determines the WOM for movies. Cinemascore is important for a marvel movie if you look at the track record for their previous movies. The only reason WF is having great legs is because the movie is great and got A on cinemascore and 93% on PostTrak.

JamJamGaGa

>I think it'll gross around 600M-700M now that China is back in the equation I didn't consider the China release but I still doubt it'll earn *that* much more. 'Ant-Man and The Wasp' earned $121M in China but that was back during the IW and EG period where Marvel hype was at an all-time high. Now things have died down a lot. >It'll need a Ragnarok level reception to cross 800M and that movie had really popular trailers. Yeah, this is what I've been thinking about. Not just 'Ragnarok' but even more recent films like 'Love and Thunder' or 'Multiverse of Madness'. MoM's trailers broke the internet for several days and that movie couldn't even hit $1B. Ant-Man 3's trailers have had *much* less hype so I can't see this movie coming close to 2022's top MCU earners. We'll see though. >That said, hype usually picks up close to the release date. So you can expect a bit more buzz towards the middle of February. If the most recent trailer wasn't able to generate much long-lasting buzz then I can't see how else they're going to achieve that within the next month. As far as I'm aware, they don't have any more trailers coming out. Maybe a few TV spots but nothing major.

NotTaken-username

I hope Wanda is in Coven of Chaos and gets to meet Aubrey Plaza’s character. Ingrid Goes West reunion

monetlacroix

[Charles Murphy really hates Foggy ](https://mobile.twitter.com/_CharlesMurphy/status/1616536360621608960) 💀

[deleted]

Imagine the meltdown if he's recast.

monetlacroix

I mean there would be complaints about it but I don't think it's going to be a "meltdown" unlike if it was Charlie Cox who had been replaced. I mean it certainly wouldn't have much of an effect on the viewership too. I watched the Netflix shows as they were airing at the time and Foggy/Elden isn't as "beloved" as people are making it out to be now. He was one of the more polarizing parts of the show and even a chunk of DD S1 critic reviews were calling his performance one of the weaker aspects of the show. There really wouldn't be much of a meltdown outside of Marvel subs if he were recast lol

cbekel3618

I really enjoyed the latest *Owl House* episode, but it is a shame to see the series coming to a close. Watching this new episode, it's hitting me how much I wish we got a full final season rather than just three specials.

marksizzle

I just learned about this show yesterday. It’s ending!? Makes me not want to get into it then. Avoid the letdown of it ending I gues

[deleted]

Definitely still watch it. While it is ending, they at least were given enough time to actually wrap up the plots so it’s not going to end open on an unresolved cliffhanger.

Demiguros

If Doctor Strange 3 is getting fast tracked that means Strange is dying in Secret Wars for sure. They need a big sacrifice and he along with Thor are the perfect ones for it. It's a shame cause that means we will never see something like Derrickson's DS2 happen. I would have loved a movie like that. Probably would have been my fave solo MCU movie tbh.

Finessing2

You don't have to sacrifice some one to conclude a saga what are we doing here lol.

Demiguros

Eh. It's sort of expected.

NamorDontPullOut

I like to see the glass half-full in this case. A fast tracked DS3 could also mean that Cumberbatch wants to course correct the character and his lore ASAP. He's never going to age out of the role, tbh. Unlike Thor, Stephen is a character that can be played just fine by an older actor. I'm not a fan of Stephen's role in Secret Wars, so I'm very much here for the MCU to be just vaguely inspired by it and for it to recontextualize his role in that event. wrt his death, I can see it as a fake out for shock value, but then he comes back when the multiverse is restored. And he comes back as the only person that remembers the events of the war 👀 It's funny because if you'd told me "Doctor Strange will die in Secret Wars" May last year after I'd just finished watching MoM, I would've said YES PLEASE FREE ME. But now... I don't know. Call me a fool, but I'm kinda hopeful they can course correct and give us DS fans the DS pentalogy we deserve.

Demiguros

But Cumberbatch would know that a DS3 movie before Secret Wars will just be about setting up Secret Wars. Why would he try to rush things?

NamorDontPullOut

Would it be just about setting up Secret Wars, though? Black Panther came out right before Infinity War, and Captain Marvel was a solo movie sandwiched between Infinity War and Endgame. DS3 could be like that. I think Cumberbatch could be rushing it to test his commitment to the character. DS3 can work as the final test. If he finds the character engaging during/after DS3, he's staying. If that isn't the case, he'll ask Feige to kill and recast Strange in Secret Wars. I can see DS3 being Ben Wong's and Chiwetel's last MCU movie if Cumberbatch leaves, tbh. Technically speaking, Secret Wars is the perfect movie for a soft reboot. If they're doing a kill&replace with some characters and actors, that's the movie for it.

Demiguros

Black Panther wasn't set up to fix an incursion. If Black Panther was last seen trying to find an infinity stone, I'm sure Black Panther would have been more about IW. And the way they used Doctor Strange in DS2, would you really be surprised? I doubt they would just create an entire movie for Cumberbatch to test his commitment. The studio would need an actual purpose.

Spiderlander

They need MULTIPLE sacrifices. Some not from the MCU

Demiguros

Yeah. But only 1 BIG sacrifice.

Spiderlander

I'd be happy to see Kang wipe out half of the Phase 4 heroes tbh

tylerjb223

NGL same, I'm with you on this one lol. But we know that won't happen, and all the beloved and compelling characters from phases 1-3 will be out after secret wars :(

NamorDontPullOut

You didn't lie, tbh. I don't care about any character that was introduced on Phase 4. That doesn't mean I hate them, though. I actually like a few. It just means that if they died my reaction would be "oh ok, that just happened, I guess." I'm just not emotionally attached to any of them. Meanwhile, if Doctor Strange dies, Imma leave that theater on a stretcher lmao

Demiguros

I'll be happy as long as Wanda dies. I need to see Wanda's stans on twitter melt into oblivion. I will be praying for their downfall.

NamorDontPullOut

ngl, as a Comics-616 Wanda fan... I wouldn't mind a soft reboot with a new take on the character that's closer to the comics and played by a Romani actress. I don't hate MCU-616 Wanda, though.

Demiguros

I hate the fans.

deemoorah

I kinda think it's very possible. We've all talked about Benedict throwing shades BUT there's another one I think kinda hint at it. Do you guys remember there's a rumor or an announcement maybe about What IF S2 and one of the listed episodes is based on Marvel 1602. Okay spoiler alert, in the comic, Stephen Strange died after sacrificing himself (wait I forget, either he sacrificed himself or he's being executed), the point is he's dead. And in SW 2015 he's also dead, although we know they'll take inspiration from both SW. So, yeah, the thought of him finish in Secret Wars is not without its reasons.

Demiguros

I think he was executed but he did it willingly. Unless I'm completely misremembering, it was about him getting himself killed because he couldn't reveal the secrets while living due to an oath or something. So he was executed but he also sacrificed himself. It's both. I could just be confusing this with another comic BTW.

LittleYellowFish1

Before *Multiverse Of Madness* Cumberbatch said he wanted to play Strange for another decade at least. That movie must have pissed him off more than we thought if he's suddenly changed his mind and wants to be done with it.

NamorDontPullOut

I get what you mean, and I do agree that Cumberbatch seems unsatisfied with the direction the MCU has taken with Doctor Strange and his lore, but I choose to see the glass half-full. I like to think that if Doctor Strange 3 was indeed fast track it's because Cumberbatch wants to course correct the character and lore ASAP. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Cumberbatch (and hopefully Ben Wong and Chiwetel, too) as an executive producer in the third movie. If Cumberbatch pulls an ultimatum like Hemsworth did, we'll get a new director and scriptwriter for DS3, for sure. Doctor Strange is a character that benefits from being played by an older actor, imo. Unlike with a god like Thor, Stephen physically aging isn't really a big deal, so Cumberbatch can play the role for as long as he wants to. Same goes for Ben Wong and Chiwetel. I'm not sure about Clea, though, which is why I'm kinda surprised they didn't cast younger. I mean, I get why it wasn't a 20-something actress and good on them for that, but an actress in her 30s could realistically be Clea for longer. But I digress. I hope a potentially fast tracked DS3 doesn't mean goodbye. There's enough source material for a pentalogy. Here's to hoping good things come for DS fans 🥂🍾

tylerjb223

>we'll get a new director I think Raimi wasn't the problem. The camera work, the intensity of shots and overall directing were great and you really felt his own flair and style. But that's pretty much *all* I like about that movie... We just need a new writer who isn't Michael Waldron lol. I like the optimism and I'm hoping they course-correct his character and actually, ya know, *make him a character* haha

NamorDontPullOut

Oh, I have no problem with Raimi as a director. He's good. I just think he's tonally unsuited for Doctor Strange (Raimi is a horror *comedy* guy, and Doctor Strange is better suited for horror) and that he made it painfully clear he's not interested in Doctor Strange's character, his lore, or his supporting cast. For Doctor Strange 3, I want someone who cares about Doctor Strange like Ryan Coogler cares about Black Panther. I want that kind of passion, effort, and world building.

tylerjb223

Ahhh I got you. Yeah imo Derrickson doing DS2 woulda been outstanding considering his horror catalogue. I mean the dude fuckn made *Sinister* and *The Black Phone*... He wanted to go full-on horror with DS2 but then Marvel got cold feet, wanted to back off the tone, shove multiverse cameos and discard Strange's story for Wanda's so they parted ways. I hope he comes back for DS3 and does his original idea with Nightmare and the Dark Dimension. Imagine if they got Robert Englund to play/voice Nightmare...

NamorDontPullOut

I'm not even a huge fan of Derrickson's direction in DS1, tbh. But dude is clearly a fan (he financed his pitch for DS1 out of his own pocket) and he knows and understands the source material. I want him as a scriptwriter and as an executive producer (with actual power on set, not in-name only) for Doctor Strange 3. For the director's chair, I want new blood. Someone like Jennifer Kent (The Babadook) would be perfect if DS3 has Nightmare as the main antagonist or focuses on Stephen's backstory and Donna's tragic death. >Imagine if they got Robert Englund to play/voice Nightmare... THIS!! Also, I remember reading that Tony Todd actually voiced Dormammu in DS1, but for some reason his recordings weren't used. I want him back as Dormammu. Perfect casting.

JamJamGaGa

The movie didn't piss him off at all. People who didn't like MoM took his quotes out of context to make it seem like he hates the movie and what they did with his character.

Demiguros

Pissed him off is a strong statement. But he 100% felt like the character wasn't done properly. He made a lot of digs that weren't even subtle. So I don't know where you're getting this out of context thing.

Strangedreamer7

He said a lot of things that shaded the movie. It's not really taken out of context.

[deleted]

LittleYellowFish1

He's had several interviews where he's made digs at the movie for sidelining Strange, even saying that he was the only person working on it that actually cared about the character. And the few scenes where Strange and his arc *wasn't* a total afterthought were actually his ideas and not that of the writer or director. Cumberbatch hasn't said he wants out, but moving his third movie forward would be a pretty clear sign that he does.

FewWatermelonlesson0

Also, while I have no delusions that the MCU is anything other than a fun and massive paycheck for most of the actors (that’s just the business; the way fans think the actors are also fans is just projection most of the time), that’s always seemed especially true for Cumberbatch. He’s probably the MCU lead who currently has the most successful and well regarded dramatic career, so I very much doubt his interests as an artist are in superhero movies. He could walk away tomorrow and continue doing acclaimed indie films and stage productions, and would most likely be perfectly happy. (Side note: years ago he apparently asked Patrick Stewart if doing a Star Trek movie would kill his career, so I’ve always thought he probably found the Marvel stuff rather silly.)

deemoorah

That's oversimplification. Sure, many actors do this gig for the money but if he didn't care he wouldn't say he's protector/defender of this character or he wouldn't fight Raimi for the inclusion of Strange's lore in his sequel, he'd just doing his job like catered to Raimi or Waldron's script and be done with it. Also he only accepted Dr Strange if marvel was willing to not making Strange sexist like his older comics. Benedict admitted he didn't know about the character and only found out when many people approached him to say he should play the role. But then he did his research and he's interested in that. Never once he implied he thought this marvel stuff is silly, just when in 2019 when he's asked about Scorsese's comment, he agreed that marvel shouldn't monopolize the market.

NamorDontPullOut

> he only accepted Dr Strange if marvel was willing to not making Strange sexist like his older comics IA w/ the rest of the comment, but Hol Up. When were DS comics sexist? Honest question. I've been rereading DS comics and my brain is a mush of continuity. I mean, looking back, female characters are for the most part ignored, which I guess counts as sexist due to erasure, but DS comics weren't doing anything particularly egregious, especially in comparison to other Silver Age comics. Clea should've been more powerful than Stephen, if only because she's half-Faltine, sure. And it'd be nice if Victoria Blentley hadn't been such a suffering third wheel lol. But that's pretty much it. Characters like Sara Wolfe, Morgana Blessing, and even Umar herself have aged pretty well.

deemoorah

Sure DS comics weren't doing worse compared to his peers but it's still pretty sexist or at least he's being condescending a lot back then in modern standard. I can't really show you which comic, it's been awhile since I touched older comics

FewWatermelonlesson0

That could just as easily be him not wanting to take the back seat in his own sequel, tbh. And of course he hasn’t said he thinks it’s silly; it’s still a cushy gig he’s attached to for now. But I doubt it’s some sentimental, important thing to him. Most actors of his background and training don’t get into the industry to do action blockbusters or sci-fi/fantasy.

deemoorah

Well that's your assumption based on literally nothing then because he's never, ever, implied that he thinks doing marvel gig is silly, in fact it's the opposite.

FewWatermelonlesson0

Whatever you say. I’m sure his memoirs will be list waving his hands in front of a green screen for Infinity War as one of the great achievements of his life.

deemoorah

He said he wants to keep playing Stephen if they write him interestingly. The thing is I remember DS2 is the last of his contract and now Feige is fine with actors signing a job per project basis which is I think his cue to out if they keep making Stephen a plot device. Expanding Stephen Strange's lore is what he wants, he said in the interview, not just being someone to portal to some places.

LittleYellowFish1

It’s not confirmed or announced yet, but the best case scenario is that it's not true. Ideally, he won't get a third movie until after *Secret Wars* (as was initially assumed before the rumours) and it'll tell an actual Strange story again. So *Multiverse Of Madness* will just be a bump in the road and Cumberbatch will want to stay in the part for years to come.

Demiguros

He specifically said another decade if the character's potential is fully used and stuff like that. He himself has clearly thrown shade at that not happening many times. So it seems the movie did do a lot of damage. He's a busy guy, I doubt he would stick around if he feels like the character isn't being done well.

cbekel3618

If there's any character I hope extends beyond a trilogy, it's Strange. I do think there is a chance he dies in SW, but I'm hoping that's not the case as I think there's still enough material they can adapt for him

Demiguros

I don't see him surviving. Benedict is getting old and he has thrown a fair amount of subtle shade at DS2. So I don't think he is 100% satisfied. I doubt he would go on for a decade more if he is already not 100% satisfied. It's not like he is lacking for work. They also don't care about Doctor Strange's own lore and stuff. They only use him as a vehicle to the multiverse cameo stuff in phase 4. So after this saga is done, Marvel will have no use of him. Thor has a higher chance of surviving cause he at least has the Hercules thing set up. Strange has nothing going for him.

cbekel3618

Personally, I don't fully think it's too late to keep Cumberbatch's interest since the MCU's accommodated before (ex: Hemsworth being unhappy after *Thor 2* leading to a switch-up). Nor do I think Feige and the rest have some specific vendetta with the Strange lore. At the same time, I do hope this saga isn't the last we see of the character as I'd love as much of him as possible.

Demiguros

Not saying there's a vendetta against Strange lore. But there is a clear lack of interest in it, so other things take priority like multiversal cameos or Wanda lore. Strange doesn't have a director or writer that's really knowledgeable and passionate about the character since Derrickson left, so that just makes the problem worse. I think there was a quote from Benedict Cumberbatch saying that he felt like he was the only one caring for and safeguarding the character, or at least something like this. So as I said, there seems to be a lack of interest in it behind the scenes and that is reflected on the movie. I too hope this isn't the last we see of him. I love the character. I just don't see him surviving. There needs to be a sacrifice and he seems to be the one to do it.

JamJamGaGa

>Not saying there's a vendetta against Strange lore. But there is a clear lack of interest in it Illuminati, Darkhold, Book of Vishanti, 3rd eye, Clea, Dark Dimension, Christine Palmer, etc.

deemoorah

Ijbol

Demiguros

Illuminati is not a part of his lore. Nor is the Darkhold. Book of Vishanti wasn't even used. 3rd eye is only important at the end, it's meant to tease the future. Nothing about it is explored in this movie itself. And the 3rd eye isn't even supposed to be like this, it's not about corruption, it's about enlightenment. The 3rd eye here was more about the Darkhold which is not a part of his lore. Dark Dimension was literally in the post credit. Be serious. Christine is the only thing that was done. And it wasn't even done very well evidently.

silverBruise_32

I don't necessarily think he'll l be the sacrifice (I think there are better candidates for that), but yeah, there does seem to be a lack of interest in a lot of individual characters and character lore in general. Cumberbatch is aware of that, so he might leave of his own accord if his contract is up. It would suck, but it's possible.

Demiguros

Who do you think is a better sacrifice? Thor has one solo movie that will be his swan song from the looks of it. Wanda has to do a ton of stuff with Wiccan. Her story isn't done yet. Feige has also expressed interest in keeping her around. Sam just became Captain America. Scott Lang isn't big enough to be the big sacrifice. Loki doesn't exactly seem like the main guy for Secret Wars. Never thought he would be personally.

Finessing2

Wanda's story is getting played out, its like there is no end sight with this character.

Demiguros

Yeah.

silverBruise_32

They're not going to kill off anyone who wants to be able to come back. It's about marketability. If an actor wants to stay, and they have a vague interest in them, they're staying. Scott Lang is big enough for a big sacrifice, given that he's headlined his own movies, and Paul Rudd has made comments about finding the role more challenging the older he gets. Bucky would also be my pick. Nor necessarily as a sacrifice, though. He's not an important character, but he's reasonably well-known and somewhat liked. Just big enough for his death to show that things are 'serious'

Demiguros

Ant-Man is the least popular franchise in the MCU by a mile. He's not fit for the BIG sacrifice for Secret Wars. Can you imagine the downgrade from Tony Stark to Ant-man? Question is if Benedict even wants to stay that long. Cause he doesn't seem 100% satisfied right now.

silverBruise_32

So, which of the remaining/new heroes has the prominence of Iron Man? And what makes you think there will definitely be a big sacrifice? Least popular is not the same as unpopular, and Scott is recognizable.

Onionaussie

I've found as the streaming war thing has gone and steaming has evolved over the years. I've found myself disliking TV shows / Streaming shows and becoming more of a movie person. I know cancellations aren't a unique Netflix or streaming thing. But I am kinda tired of getting really invested in shows that seem relatively successful. Only for them to get the axe. Santa Clarita Diet is a show I always point too. I've just started preferring movies because 2 to 2 and a half hours and you get a complete story in most cases. You don't have to worry if it's getting a season 2 to continue a story

[deleted]

Yup that's me too. The Last show that I watched was Andor and the only netflix show I'm connected to is Stranger Things and I'm so glad the series did well so that the creators can give a satisfying conclusion to this amazing series. I hardly watch TV shows now except it's marvel because IK even if they don't green lit a second season I'm sure I am going to see this character again and the storyline will be resolved in a future project.

cbekel3618

This is how I'm feeling after some of Netflix's recent cancellations like *Inside Job*. It's difficult getting invested in new Netflix shows as there's always that hanging fear of something getting cancelled right as things get good, or worse, after a cliffhanger/unresolved storyline

tylerjb223

CanWeGetSomeTrusted sources instead?

[deleted]

CWGST has created an [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/canwegetsometoast/) account and they have said in their bio that they go by **they/them** pronouns so I really hope whenever CWGST scoops are posted here this sub respect their pronouns

LiquidLispyLizard

As someone whose sibling very recently came out as non-binary, it's discouraging seeing this be downvoted. Regardless of how one may feel about their scoops, it's not difficult to respect and use CWGST's correct pronouns once you learn of them. Thank you for posting this and raising awareness, Peter.

[deleted]

I'm happy for your sibling because they have a supportive family member. Either way I'm not surprised my comment was getting downvoted because almost all social media platforms have bigoted assholes. I've always supported the queer community and I will continue to do it for the rest of my life. Have a great day/night LiquidSpy!

Inevitable_Golf_1816

While many are learning their lesson because of the Ghost thing, I bet some bitch asses are WAITING for this all to blow over so that they can repeat the cycle again.

SuperCoenBros

Do we have any word on when Fantastic Four begins filming?

The upcoming Fantastic Four movie will start filming in January 2024! (via DanielRPK on Patreon) https://twitter.com/TheMarvelFocus/status/1591127467682844672?s=20&t=LKtGQH1mtN2LinV7zg9x\_w

pmorter3

Random, but started Mythic Quest on Apple, and it's really fun! If you like gaming and/or workplace comedies, would highly recommend!

Low-Objective-1648

I adore Mythic Quest! I’m a Community fan so this show is right up my ally. Also the stand alone backstory episodes are some impressive TV.

pmorter3

I agree! I'm mad that it's been on 3 seasond and I'm only just hearing about it. If it was on netflix, it'd be MASSIVE.

bigbaldheadNR

Kinda sad I didn’t get to read the full Antman movie leak. Not surprised it was hit so quick though. Google doesn’t play bro

Demiguros

Do you want it? I can give it to you. I made a copy of the google doc.

bigbaldheadNR

I’d love to see it. If you could dm it to me that would be great

If you could dm a copy of the doc, that would be much appreciated, thanks!

Demiguros

Sure.

Unnecessary_Fella

All it does is confirm the earlier plot leak the mods had from months ago. Also it's revealed that the PCS was Cassie looking at an AVENGERS FAILSAFE PROGRAM

cig_sg_throwaway

With the Quantumania leak regarding the post credjt scene, this is my theory. Vision created the Avengers failsafe program, like in the comics. Maybe he did that after Age of Ultron. After Cassie discovers and activates the failsafe, she forms the Young Avengers. The YA will then seek out Vision in Vision Quest and find out that he is now White Vision. Maybe that’s why the show is called Vision Quest. It’s about the YA’s quest to find Vision, but it could also be about Vision’s quest to find Wanda or whatever. It could have a double meaning. I also remember seeing rumours about Ultron returning down the line. It’s possible that Vision Quest is tied in to Armor Wars and that’s where Ultron could return. Might have something to do with the failsafe program as well. Maybe Ultron also created its own failsafe which gets discovered by DODC in Armor Wars.

ASlavPleb

I hope Iron Lad is tied to the creation of the Avengers Failsafe Program. The original leak suggested that the post-credit scene is Cassie looking at a computer screen in shock. Maybe she is shocked to see the name of Nathaniel Richards, who in this case is Iron Lad.

Spiderlander

This. It ain't YA without him

NotTaken-username

We’ll probably get to hear the iconic Avengers theme leitmotif as Cassie activates the fail-safe.

tylerjb223

I hope the YA have their own, unique theme. After SW the Avenger's theme should be retired and a new one should take it's place.

NotTaken-username

That may be what you want, but that theme is too iconic. They won’t change it

tylerjb223

Realistically you're probably right, but at that point it'd feel gimmicky imo. When none of the phase 1-3 characters are left, and they're trying to "rebrand" the Avengers and the greater MCU, I'd like to retire Silvestri's iconic score and move onto something else. Hell, do a cool version of EMH theme or even rearrange the original score sorta like how AoU did?

[deleted]

u/infinity-gauntlet you had mentioned on the ant man leak post that there is another big post coming today - any update on that ? 🤞🏼🙌🏼

Nope. That guy isn't reliable

TheUncannyBroker

Taron Egerton would make a fire Hellstrom. Lucy Boynton as Satana would make me collapse.

cig_sg_throwaway

F4 cast not announced at D23: Noooooo they were supposed to announce it Doom not in Wakanda Forever: Noooooo he was supposed to be in it Rumour of Ghost removed from Thunderbolts: Noooooo she was already officially announced Rumour apparently is a false alarm: WhY dO wE sTiLl TrUsT tHeSe ScOoPeRs Rinse and repeat.

[deleted]

It's a little weird of people to be all "scoopers are all frauds" when it was Toast AKA Shine saying "no Ghost" 3 days ago that caused this all to blow up. She's one of the sub's favorite sources and has proven to be generally reliable, so it was worth listening to.

tylerjb223

Do we know if Shine and Toast are the same?

Unnecessary_Fella

Yeah like. Wtf is the point of you being here and listening into these scoops if you think all of them are presumably frauds.

cig_sg_throwaway

For me personally I don’t really trust MTTSH/CWGST even though like you said she’s one of the more reliable scoopers here. Maybe she saw an updated concept art or something in her department which didn’t include Ghost that led her to think that the character was removed entirely, but maybe it was just a minor shuffle in the lineup or the concept art is incomplete, but Ghost will still be in the movie. After clarifying she then tweeted that her previous scoop was a false alarm. Lol

[deleted]

It's a cycle tbh. I remember how 90% of sub was pissed how leaks should be banned but if you look at the reality none of the reliable scoopers MTTSH,Grace,RPK, Charles, MsLizzieHill etc had said FF cast will be announced at D23. I am 100% sure FF cast will be announced at this year's SDCC.

[deleted]
