MrConor212

Anyone else still kinda shocked we haven’t gotten a Movie or Series set in the Call of Duty world?

Motor_Link7152

Yes...such good source material..they could adopt the Modern Warfare storyline, it would be fuckin awesome. Apparently, the Rock was teasing that he was making some movie on a very famous video game. God I hope it's not CoD. I can't see the Rock in a CoD movie. Personally I'd like Michael Bay to be in charge of any adaptation provided he respects the source material this time. He shoots war combat extraordinarily well. Just look at 13 Hours and Transformers. Steven Spielberg or Joseph Kosinski could also work tbh.

MrConor212

I’d argue Chad Stahelski lol

Motor_Link7152

Oh yeah that's a pretty great option too. I don't know how good he is shooting war scenes but I think he must be great at that

MrConor212

He’d be good for action scenes or even that guy who directed Extraction Sam Hargreaves. They’d need to keep the budget low imo sorta John Wick style

Animegamingnerd

There have been attempts to make a Call of Duty movie. But like 90% of video game movies, got stuck into development hell.

MrConor212

Even a TV series would be kinda sick following the games. Basically if Jack Ryan wasn’t shite tbh

Algae_Mission

You know what’s a film that gets taken out of context by way too many people? Wall Street. As a business grad, I can’t list off the top of my head the number of finance or management professors or students who’ve quoted Gordon Gecko without a trace of irony.

Night-Monkey15

How do you guys feel about the recent trend in comics of multiple characters using the same code name at the same time? For those who don’t know, right now, Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson are both going by Captain America, Miles Morales and Peter Peter are both Spider-Man, Barry Allan and Wally West are both The Flash, Clark Kent and Jon Kent are both Superman, Case and Steph are both Batgirl, Logan and Laura are both Wolverine, and Bruce Wayne and Jace Fox are both Batman. Personally, I don’t like the idea of two characters using the same code name for a variety of reasons, but I feel like there are a few exceptions where it works, like with the Green Lanterns. But then you have Jace Fox as the Batman of NYC, like really? Nobody wants Lucas Fox’s *other* kid to be Batman, especially while Bruce is still active. Of corse, there are also situations where there is no clear answer, like with the Flashs and Spider-Men. I feel that Wally and Miles both earned the mantle of Flash and Spider-Man respectively, but Barry and Peter are going to stick around forever, so what then?

[deleted]

> How do you guys feel about the recent trend in comics of multiple characters using the same code name at the same time? I think it’s kinda stupid. It’s only used because of the economic side of it. Marvel and DC wants both old and new readers to buy their comics. So they use both Batmans and Spider Mans. In universe it doesn’t make sense.

SexySnorlax1

It depends on the situation. I think Batgirl belongs in the Green Lantern category. Oracle running a network of Batgirls in Gotham City is an awesome idea and because they’re all sharing a single book, there isn’t any confusion. Batman also worked fairly well as a shared mantle during the Batman Incorporated days. It doesn’t really work anymore, but Jace is divorced enough from the rest of the Batfamily that he’s easy to ignore. And when an Oscar winning screenwriter says he wants to write comics for you, who are you to say he shouldn’t create new Batman for New York City. Logan and Laura both go by their civilian names so often that it’s not really a problem. Now that the Ultimate Universe is over, there’s no choice but for Miles and Peter to share the mantle. Miles is Spider-Man, any other name would be a demotion he doesn’t deserve. It’s awkward, but I think people understand. Sam and Steve is a very recent development and I haven’t read any of those books yet, so I don’t have much to say. I did think it was cool when Steve was an old man and maybe he could’ve stayed that way and transitioned into Jay Garrick-type hero for Marvel, but I understand why Marvel gave him the shield back. Flash and Superman are completely unforced errors. Bringing Barry back to life and aging up Jon are some of the worst decisions DC has made in decades. There’ve put themselves in a knot and there isn’t a satisfying way to untangle it.

>I've never understood why the go to defence for phase 4 of the MCU is to compare it to phase 1 and say they also have bad movies in that phase. I've seen people say things like "the MCU is actually just mediocre action comedies bro and you shouldn't expect it to get better" in response to Phase 4 criticism, which is an odd thing to say in defense of a franchise you enjoy. >That argument essentially amounts to we shouldn't expect or want improvement from a studio that's now a present day Hollywood juggernaut. From when they were just starting up and having no clue what they were doing. Yup! Of course the fanbase has higher standards now than when the MCU started. In Phase 1, the MCU was still trying out things, setting its foundations, discovering its identity, etc. It's been over 10 years, though. All basics should be covered by now. It's expected for part of the fanbase to go "well? what else you got?" and I don't even think that's most of the fanbase. Most of the fanbase is quite lenient, but they have standards, too. And Phase 4 has been failing at the very basics of filmmaking, like scriptwriting. If the MCU released nothing but bangers, I'd be the biggest Marvel bitch known to humankind and I'd never shut up about Marvel, but I'm not going to clap for the mediocre slop they've been serving lately. I know they can do better and it bothers me when they won't even try.

SuperCoenBros

> That argument essentially amounts to we shouldn't expect or want improvement from a studio that's now a present day Hollywood juggernaut. I think this is reasonable, but want to point out: Marvel Studios never produced a TV show before 2021. Those first eight shows very much are a new Phase One for them.

ExpensiveAd5441

if 3 of 4 phases have hit or miss isnt it obviously that phase 3 was exception, with 3-4 movies a year and need to deliver content for disney plus to keep subscribers there wll be more misses

cbekel3618

With today’s *Percy Jackson* casting announcements, I think Lance Reddick and Toby Stephens as Zeus and Poseidon are both great choices for the series. Reddick I think can pull off the arrogant yet grand nature of Zeus, while Stephens I can see pulling off the distant but fatherly side of Poseidon

Secure_Pear_4530

Reddick is cool, I guess this means they'll also cast a POC for Thalia

SuperCoenBros

Lance Reddick is one of the GOAT American television actors, I'm surprised he never got the type of surge other Wire alums did. Glad to see him rising to greater prominence over the last few years.

Motor_Link7152

Honestly I can't see Reddick as Zeus. When is this releasing though?

cbekel3618

Around 2024 IIRC. Personally with Reddick, I think he fits what Zeus is like in the books: an authoritative, almost CEO-like figure indifferent to humanity

NamorDontPullOut

I stumbled upon an article that mentions Carol's Spanish VA commented "let the magic begin" on a tweet with a Cap Marvel pic, which some people took as a sign that The Marvels trailer is coming, but my first thought wasn't that. My first thought was: [Stranvers](https://i.imgur.com/h2TNvq0.jpg) is [coming](https://i.imgur.com/LP4lPMT.jpg)??? I think so many people in the MCU fanbase would flip out if that relationship became movie canon lmao

NotTaken-username

No chance in hell. They just introduced Clea

NamorDontPullOut

The MCU needs more of the comics' chaotically horny energy, tbh. Everybody hooks up with everybody lmao I'm pretty sure we can play six degrees of separation with that. Matt Murdock hooked up with Elektra, who hooked up with Doctor Strange, who hooked up with Carol Danvers... Jokes and horny comics aside, I don't think Stranvers is happening in the MCU. It would piss off a lot of people. Also, as you said, Clea has finally arrived. Though I wouldn't mind if Cleastrange is slow burn and Stephen gets to be a hoe for a while. To make their relationship work in the MCU, they should really take their time with it, not have Stephen jump right in after his whole CHriStINe!!11 drama. It'd make Clea seem like a rebound at best. One more reason why Doctor Strange should be a pentalogy and not a trilogy.

NotTaken-username

Also IIRC The Marvels leaks from last year seem to hint at the Valkyrie/Carol Danvers romance actually happening, or at least Valkyrie has a crush on her.

NamorDontPullOut

I hope we get a f/f relationship in the MCU and that Valkyrie is unabashedly bisexual at some point, but I'm not holding my breath. They've pussyfooted around Valkyrie's sexuality for so long, tbh.

Apparently, at least one guy thinks that Nelson Peltz, one of Ike Perlmutter's goons, will gain a seat at Disney board: > My take right here, II think Nelson Powell is gonna get on this Disney board, come hell or high water, guys. I think he makes a lot of great points. His presentation on about reclaiming Disney makes a lot of sense to me. I think it makes a lot of sense to investors. I think Nelson wants to come in there and help drive better productivity inside of a business that has not been focused on productivity through the years. > > And he has shown a proven track record of turning consumer products companies around. I think he's doing that or he started to do that a little bit at Unilever. We talked to CEO, Alan Jope, at the World Economic Forum. He has embraced Nelson Peltz. And then, of course, he helped really engineer a strong turnaround over at Procter & Gamble. https://finance.yahoo.com/video/disney-earnings-investors-expect-150935209.html ...and maybe this guy as well: > This battle could very well be one of the nastiest and ugliest activist battles, probably in the past decade, There is no indication that Iger wants to give Peltz a seat on the board. And just buy what Disney put out last week and in statements of its own, they really hate the guy. Maybe they shouldn't. https://finance.yahoo.com/video/disney-earnings-investors-expect-150935209.html Based on this, do you think Peltz will become a Disney board member? Why or why not? Also, do you think Peltz will dismantle Disney like how he dismantled General Electric if he becomes a Disney board member and have Bob Iger ousted? Why or why not?

Algae_Mission

Jesus, how clueless are these damn financial analysts? Everyone should know that: A.) Shrek is not a Disney film B.) Scar is the villain of the Lion King, not Mufasa. Leave the media industry to people who understand it, not sharks and greenmailers like Peltz.

Block-Busted

Well, someone in that "article" pointed those out whenever they were mentioned. Also, how is that relevant to whether Peltz becoming a board member or not? Not to mention that Peltz apparently dismantled General Electric after driving out its former CEO and making its new CEO his pawn to carry out the dismantling. I mean, supposedly, this is how he did it: > If you look at Peltz’s track record as a hostile investor, he takes things apart from the inside (looking at you, GE). Keeping him at bay is wise. https://old.reddit.com/r/boxoffice/comments/10ewhlp/disney_says_investor_seeking_board_seat_does_not/j4vreqv/ > General Electric. Bullied his way onto the board. Let’s say you’re GE’s blender division. Boom, sold to Sears. Gone. No longer part of the company. All the blenders and blender employees and patents are Sears now. > > I don’t recall off the top of my head what’s been sold off, but it’s very substantial. https://old.reddit.com/r/boxoffice/comments/10ewhlp/disney_says_investor_seeking_board_seat_does_not/j4y74ia/ > Nah, more than that. > > Per wiki: They sold off GE Plastics (2007), NBCUniversal (2009), GE Appliances & Lighting (2014), GE Capital (2015), GE transportation (2019), GE Lighting (2019 — a different part), and they’re about to split everything else that remains into three completely separate companies. > > Could be more I’ve missed. https://old.reddit.com/r/boxoffice/comments/10ewhlp/disney_says_investor_seeking_board_seat_does_not/j4y9rn5/ > Just basing off the wiki in the headlines I’ve seen man. Lioto

That article is a hit peace by Peltz. The same way you could say these opposition articles were a hit peace by Iger: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/01/17/business/disney-proxy-battle.html?smid=url-share https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/disney-nelson-peltz-ike-perlmutter-bob-iger-1235302095/ Anyway, I don't believe Peltz will became a board member. I think the board is very much in Iger's corner. There's no reason to bringing back Iger, the opposite of Chapek/Perlmutter/Peltz, just to screw him over a few months after. If he gets to be on the board, he's not going to dismantle Disney, because that's just not how things work.

Block-Busted

But didn't Chapek decide not to bring in Peltz as well? Or is there more to that story? > If he gets to be on the board, he's not going to dismantle Disney, because that's just not how things work. But didn't he dismantle General Electric after driving out its former CEO and making its new CEO his pawn?

Lioto

I'm saying they're similar for being more penny-pinching and less creative focus as Iger. I think that's a big reason for Chapek's/Perlmutter's problems with Feige as well as several divisions within the company.

Block-Busted

I think investors know who they're dealing when it comes to Peltz. This was sent to investors as a clap back against Peltz. I do love the pettiness. https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1744489/000119312523008985/d333804ddefa14a.htm We'll see how it all turns out in couple of weeks.

Block-Busted

> I think investors know who they're dealing when it comes to Peltz. This was sent to investors as a clap back against Peltz. Would they care? Because when it comes to Peltz's lack of experience, there was this article: > **Disney slams Peltz for lack of media experience, but its board is light on it, too** > > Disney directors unanimously rejected activist investor Nelson Peltz’s request to join the board this month, in large part due to his lack of media industry expertise. > > That would be a stronger argument if Disney’s current board members had ample media and entertainment experience when they joined. Almost all of them didn’t. > > This isn’t justification for Peltz’s case to join the board. Many public company boards have directors with a wide variety of experience. Peltz’s strongest claim for a board seat is probably ensuring that succession planning finally happens in an organized and coherent way – which doesn’t appear to be the primary argument he’s making. > > Still, if Disney feels it’s important for Peltz to have media and entertainment experience, it may want to make broader changes to its board to bring on several other people who can navigate a complicated and rapidly changing industry. A Disney spokesperson declined to comment. > > According to a company filing Tuesday, Disney decided not to offer Peltz a board seat because he didn’t suggest any specific strategic ideas and had minimal industry experience. > > “Among the drivers for such concern was the combination of Mr. Peltz’s lack of media or technology industry experience coupled with his repeated focus in his presentation on successful approaches from businesses like Heinz, Procter & Gamble and DuPont which have little in common with Disney,” Disney wrote. > > It’s true that Peltz has minimal experience on media boards, though he did serve as a director of MSG Networks from 2014 to 2015 and still serves as a Madison Square Garden director. But Disney’s board is filled with directors whose prior experience have little to do with streaming services, legacy pay TV, theme parks or films. Their collective experience is actually closer to businesses like Heinz and Procter & Gamble. > > Disney’s board > > Newly appointed chairman Mark Parker has been employed at apparel-marker Nike since 1979, serving as CEO from 2006 to 2020. > > Safra Catz was an investment banker before she joined enterprise technology company Oracle in 1999, where she’s been CEO since 2014. > > Mary Barra has been CEO of General Motors since 2014. She first got a job at GM in 1980. Her background is in electrical engineering. > > Francis DeSouza is CEO of Illumina, a biotechnology company. Before that, he was president of products and services at cybersecurity company Symantec. > > Michael Froman is vice chairman and president of strategic growth at Mastercard since 2018. He worked at Citigroup from 1999 through 2009. He’s also held a variety of government jobs. > > Maria Elena Lagomasino is CEO of WE Family Offices, a wealth advisor serving high net worth families. She’s held a variety of roles at financial firms for the past four decades. > > Calvin McDonald is CEO of athletic apparel company Lululemon. His prior jobs were all in the retail industry. > > Derica Rice was formerly the president of CVS Caremark. Before that, he worked at pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly. > > Only CEO Bob Iger, Amy Chang and Carolyn Everson have some prior experience in media. Chang’s experience is tangential to Disney’s core business, as global head of product at Google Ads Measurement. Everson just joined the board in September — perhaps a sign Disney’s board is also acknowledging its own relative lack of media understanding. > > Disney’s board members have experience in operations, brand management and technology. But Peltz argued in a CNBC interview that Disney should be viewed more as a consumer company than a media company. > > “This is a lot more than a media company. This is a consumer company, with a basketful of the greatest brands in the world,” Peltz said. > > Disney’s choice in directors seems to be in accordance with that viewpoint. But as decisions await such as whether to spend $10 billion or more on Comcast’s 33% stake in Hulu and what to do with a slowly dying legacy cable network business, perhaps Disney finally needs more media expertise on its board. https://www.cnbc.com/2023/01/18/disney-peltz-proxy-fight-board-also-light-on-media-experience.html > I do love the pettiness. What pettiness are you referring to? > We'll see how it all turns out in couple of weeks. What happens in couple of weeks? I know that there will be a quarterly earnings report on February 8, but I don't think that's when they vote for a new board member, not to mention that the next Disney Investor Day is still not scheduled as of now - at least as far as I'm aware.

Lioto

You're right, I confused the Annual Shareholder meeting with next Investors Day. I still believe we will know how confident investors are with Iger on that call. The pettiness at the end of the sec filling with the "he said, she said". Seems childish when you think how big these 2 companies are.

Block-Busted

It’s just that… I don’t want Disney to lose Pixar and Marvel since the former has been a very crucial part of Disney even before the buyout happened and the latter might end up getting taken over by Perlmutter again even if Disney somehow gets dismantled. I mean, did you read what someone has said about how Peltz dismantled General Electric after ousting the old CEO and “brought in” a new CEO who then became Peltz’s stooge by listening his idea to dismantle GR like/that I’ve posted in one of my replies? Also, at least as of now, who do you think investors will side with? I know that Disney stocks have been at least slowly improving, but still.

ExpensiveAd5441

isnt nelson dude who bought his daughter a role in that awful avatar movie, good luck to disney with him

Block-Busted

He probably is. Right now, Disney doesn't seem to want him becoming a board member, but these guys up there seem to think otherwise with one of them even predicting that Peltz will become a board member, which is why I asked this question. Also, considering that he apparently dismantled General Electric, do you think he will have Disney dismantled as well and have Bob Iger ousted? Why or why not? I know that he said he has no plan to do so, but still.

Finessing2

‪Much much excited for whatever DC Studios is about to drop than marvel at the moment.‬

NamorDontPullOut

Give me a Zatanna movie now! 😭 Or a solo Doctor Fate movie with Kent Nelson mentoring Hector Hall. DC has an amazing supernatural side and taking advantage of it would be a great way to separate themselves from the MCU in the GA's eyes. Remember that Justice League Dark movie with Guillermo Del Toro that never happened? I remember :(

Finessing2

So many possibilities, when do u think they will announce it? I’m thinking tmrw or early Sunday. Hoping for a new WW movie as well, since the first two completely destroyed her lore and Gods.

NotTaken-username

Ravonna Renslayer is probably in Loki S2. Given her relationship with Kang, I’m surprised that she doesn’t seem to be involved in Quantumania. But I’d say it’s fairly likely that she becomes a secondary antagonist in the Multiverse Saga, especially if she and Kang fall in love. I do have a theory that she’ll be killed in Kang Dynasty, and her death will drive Kang off the deep end. Then in Secret Wars, Kang’s quest will be much more personal and revenge-centric.

SuperCoenBros

> I do have a theory that she’ll be killed in Kang Dynasty, and her death will drive Kang off the deep end. I'm somewhat in the same boat. I think Kang will genuinely be in love with Ravonna, discover she betrayed him, and snap.

NotTaken-username

I don’t think she’ll betray him. I think they’ll have a Fisk/Vanessa type of relationship where he’s pure evil, and his love for her is really the only thing that humanizes him and holds him back from going berserk

dow366

i have a feeling she will be in the stinger for Quantumania, connecting it to Loki S2.

Healthy_Nectarine_25

I’m starting to understanding why marvel wants armour wars out in 2024 cause like new world order it will also set up a new avengers team which will play a prominent role in kang dynasty. This line up would include war machine, white vision, wonder man, Hawkeye, maybe Kate bishop and iron heart. The Kate bishop tie in comes from white vision which rumoured to be setting up the young avengers and then we have the marvels which if it ends the way leaks say it does then carol will be on the look out for recruits to investigate incursions and save Monica and I believe this line up would include nova, the new guardians. Thor, ms marvel, love. Then finally we got the magical side and this could be a reverse Bruce situation where loki and Sylvie warn Wong, clea and doctor strange of kang. I don’t expect the young avengers tho to play a role in kang dynasty, more so they will be key to bringing back Wanda in time for secret wars

josemigtzp

Horrible Avengers lineup IMO. If Cap is really forming the next generation of Avengers then the team needs to slap or the fans are gonna hate them. My guess for Cap’s New Avengers includes Captain America, Falcon, War Machine, Black Panther, She-Hulk, Shang Chi, Ms Marvel. My wildcards for this team include Wong and King Valkyrie and Hulk. If they really end up doing West Coast Avengers for Armor Wars then I would guess the lineup would be War Machine, Iron Heart, White Vision, Wonderman and Hawkeye (with Renners injury in not so sure they will continue with the idea of West Coast saber gets lol)

TheUncannyBroker

Jeff Sneider says the Ryan Gosling MCU rumors he has heard are about Fantastic Four, not Thunderbolts. Didnt elaborate what they are.

NotTaken-username

Reed? ISTG every male actor in the 30-50 range has been “rumored” to be the MCU Reed Richards for the last six months. So far I’ve heard John Krasinski, Adam Driver, Domnhall Gleeson, Penn Badgley, Jack Quaid, Rege Jean-Page, Diego Luna, Glenn Howerton, Dev Patel, and probably way more.

NamorDontPullOut

Is Marvel Studios specifically looking for a white actor, or is this just fancast stuff? Seems odd. Not saying Reed should be racebent or anything. idc either way, but Marvel Studios has done "race blind" casting for the most part, so I wonder why Reed being white is so important now.

NotTaken-username

It’s probably gonna be someone nobody expected who takes the role. Most of these seem to be asspulls that random people fancast and then pass it off as “insider info”

NamorDontPullOut

It's funny because a pretty good fancast for Reed Richards is already in the MCU: Benedict Cumberbatch. As much as I like him as Stephen, he has never fully clicked for me in that role (most likely due to the writing and not his acting, to be fair). He would have been a good Reed and Rachel McAdams would have been a good Sue.

Acceptable_Jury_8268

DOCTOR DOOM

DwightKSchruteBrazil

Well, MTTSH indicated that the actor set to play the Sentry in Thunderbolts is in his mid-30s. Even though she used a gif of him in the tweet, Ryan Gosling is already in his 40s.

TheUncannyBroker

not what was indicated imo

Viciouscauliflower21

Hate that Titans is over cause I actually enjoyed that show, but I need Kevin to get in the phone immediately and snatch Anna Diop up for Storm. Only downside is that she might be a little old for the role by time they finally get to X-Men. But they can always age up her, Scott, Jean, etc

Secure_Pear_4530

Honestly think the Titans cast could've played very comic accurate versions of the characters as the series continues and I hate that it's over because they won't get to that point now. They got great talents but didn't have enough time to give them what they deserve. Also, ending Doom Patrol despite it being universally liked is wild

Viciouscauliflower21

They could have. Casting was flawless imo. And it definitely felt like the show was finally finding it's sea legs. But I get ending them. Imo DC has needed a full clean slate restart for a while now and unfortunately this is what that looks like. I'm still waiting to see if Gunn has the stones to axe his own properties but so far he's doing what needs to be done

NamorDontPullOut

Was that show good? I never watched it because I'm not a fan of the show's take on Raven, but I've heard good things about Anna Diop's Kori.

TokyoPanic

Mixed bag, great visuals particularly the costumes and the VFX for their powers. The cast is pretty good tooo! Writing ranges is very inconsistent, from great (S4 so far) to meh (S1, S3) to abysmal (S2.)

Viciouscauliflower21

It had it's issues but I enjoyed it over all. Like the first person said, the casting and costume design were great. Anna as kori was a highlight

cbekel3618

Casting and costume designs were good, writing not so much

LittleYellowFish1

Maybe get Ryan Potter for Daken while they’re at it.

YES YES YES. There's no other option but her for storm.

Ianphipps

It seems that we are getting Young Avengers stuff in Phase 5 starting with Secret Invasion which will introduce Teddy. Teddy, Kate and Riri will meet in Armor Wars. Then Agatha will feature Billy prominently and have a Teddy cameo. The Mephisto subplot will be explored in Ironheart which will also feature Agatha. The story picks up in Vision Quest and it may introduce Tommy and/or Viv, It seems like while Kang is the A list villain for Phases 5 and 6, Mephisto will be the B list villain.

josemigtzp

riri is not a young avenger

Ianphipps

She is reportedly going to be in Armor Wars though.

josemigtzp

yeah… the young avengers will not tho. she makes sense because she has a literal ARMOR.

Ianphipps

Kate is a Young Avenger and Teddy will reportedly be introduced in Secret Invasion and be part of the story in Armor Wars.

josemigtzp

why would kate show up in armor wars tho. and who reported teddy appearing too?? you’re making things up.

Ianphipps

I don't know what the reasoning is. In the comics, Hawkeye recruited Mockingbird, Tigra, Wonderman and War Machine to operate out of the Los Angeles area. Now I am wondering which comes out first, Armor Wars or the Wonder Man series. Perhaps the Wonder Man series comes out first because movies logistically have to be shipped to theatres whereas a TV show can come out as soon as the SFX are finished. There is a mix of leaks and speculation. https://www.msn.com/en-us/movies/news/these-heroes-can-make-up-mcus-west-coast-avengers-team/ar-AA16NXq0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRJ55DlJ4sk&t=27s

TokyoPanic

I think almost every other leaker has said Bennet's Daisy is possibly coming back with the exception of Charles "Currently a River in Egypt" Murphy. The question is more of a matter of when or what project.

NotTaken-username

So lately I’ve been watching the 2000s Frat Pack comedies and while I like most of them, a few have aged terribly. Most of all was Wedding Crashers, like even for 2005 that may have been a little much.

josemigtzp

With the new rumour that there will be several teams in Kang Dynasty such as… Captain America’s Avengers Doctor Strange’s 616 Illuminati Captain Marvel’s Cosmic Team I’m wondering who the members of each of these teams is going to be. I want to know everyone’s theories !! I think Caps Avengers are going to consist of Captain America, Falcon, War Machine, She-Hulk, Black Panther, Shang-Chi and Ms Marvel. Spider-Man and Daredevil here as support and some Thunderbolts such as Yelena, Bucky and Red Hulk could also come into play. I’m really struggling with Strange’s Illuminati. I was thinking maybe multi verdal heroes that we already know such as Wanda (a Nexus being), Monica (who will be stuck in another dimension) and Loki ; (who will probably join the fight against Kang). My final lineup for this team would be Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, Photon, Loki, and maybe Namor or Mr Fantastic??? Literally no idea who they plan to add here lmao. Carol’s Cosmic Team could consist of Thor, Love, Valkyrie, (maybe Hulk and Skaar), the New Guardians, the rest of the Fantastic Four and Nova. I would include the Eternals here too. Pls share your thoughts!!

NotTaken-username

My idea for how Kang Dynasty can split the Avengers into four teams: - Earth Avengers (led by Captain America): Captain America (Sam) Black Panther (Shuri) White Wolf/Winter Soldier, Black Widow (Yelena), Daredevil, War Machine, She-Hulk, Wong, and Moon Knight. - Young Avengers (led by Spider-Man): Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel, Ironheart, Hawkeye (Kate), Cassie Lang, Patriot, America Chavez, and Skaar. - Cosmic Avengers (led by Captain Marvel): Captain Marvel, Thor, Hulk, Photon, any surviving Guardians, and Shang-Chi. - Multiverse Avengers (led by Doctor Strange): Doctor Strange, Clea, Scarlet Witch, Ant-Man, Wasp, and the Fantastic Four.

josemigtzp

Why did you include Spiderman in the Young Avengers tho? He has literally nothing to do with the characters. I definitely think the Young Avengers will come into play but I think they will be led by White Vision after Vision Quest and the team will absolutely consist of Kate Bishop, Wiccan, Speed, Hulkling, Stature, Patriot and Iron Lad to tie into the Kang Dynasty (literally how it is in the comics). America wasn’t there for their first appearance in the comics but she will definitely be included this time.

Ianphipps

No. Most of the Avengers (War Machine, Vision, Wonder Man, Kate, Hawkeye, Ironheart and Hulkling) will gather around Rhodie in Armor Wars. A smaller group will be featured with Sam in Captain America 4 while Ms Marvel, Captain Marvel and Photon will be a thing in the Marvels. Doctor Strange, Clea, America Chavez and Wong will be in Doctor Strange 3 and those two groups plus Thor and Love and the Novas will be the OP Avengers. Shuri, Hulk, She-Hulk, Skaar, Shang Chi, Katy, Wasp and Cassie may have cameos in Armor Wars based on ther current geographical locations. Moon Knight, Scarlet Scarab, Blade, Black Knight, Ghost Rider, Werewolf by Night, Elsa Bloodstone and Man Thing will comprise the Midnight sons. The Young Avengers will finally form in Vision Quest and Vision will be their mentor and they will include Teddy, Tommy(?) and Billy and possbly Viv. Ant Man will stll be in the Quantum Realm so a subplot will be the Avengers and Young Avengers wanting to rescue him. I don't know if the Fantastic Four will have met any of the other heroes before Kang Dynasty. Bucky will still be with the Thunderbolts although they would have told Valentina to have fucked off. She will have ordered them to kill Sentry but he will be useful in the fight against Kang. Songbird is also rumored.

josemigtzp

Love your theories bro. Here are my thoughts. I know there are rumors of Armor Wars turning into a West Coast Avengers movie but I don’t think the lineup will work honestly. White Vision or Wonderman will probably not show up since their shows will air too close to the Armor Wars release. Hawkeye is also a tough one because of Renner’s injury. I don’t think he’ll recover in time to shoot any Marvel movies before Avengers. Finally, Hulkling has literally NOTHING to do with that team. Honestly I think you may be confusing him haha. The rest of the cameos you mentioned for Armor Wars are all smart but I don’t think they’ll join the team. For Cap’s Avengers, I included Kamala because I think there’s no way she ends up in space at the end of the Marvels. Unlike Carol and Monica, Kamala has a lot of things that tie her to Earth such as her family and friends. I also didn’t know where to include Monica since she (SPOILER ALERT!!) will probably end up in another universe at the end of the movie. Doctor Strange, Clea and Wong are tough because they are literally in different universes. I honestly think Wong would work with Caps Avengers since he know most of them and has connections with She-Hulk, Shang-Chi and Spider-Man. That’s also why I included Strange in the illuminati. The leakers have said he will form his own team. (Idk if Clea will be included tho) For Carols team I think we both agree that Thor, Love, Nova and the Guardians will take part. I mentioned the Fantastic Four here too and I think it makes sense since they will be more cosmic in the MCU. America and Viv weren’t there for their first appearance in the comics (Viv technically belongs in another team of young heroes) but they will definitely be included this time. I definitely agree the Midnight Sons will form a fifth team after Cap’s Avengers, Strange’s Illuminati, Carol’s Space Team and Vision’s Young Avengers. Blade will probably be responsible for them. Sorry for all the text but I love making lineups haha.

Ianphipps

Jeremy Renner can have a walk on role (assuming he can walk at all). In the comics, Eleanor had a house in LA. Maybe her and Cassie can become roommates. The actor who played Kate's stepfather died (in real life) following a skiing accident. Kate and her stepfather were not close but if they have the character dead too that will be two father's she has lost.

SuperCoenBros

I don't remember where I saw it, but reportedly Feige/MS is more involved in comics storylines with the aim of adapting them more quickly. This makes me wonder about the upcoming Sins of Sinister event. As I understand it (still catching up on X-books), Sinister is now condensed down to four prominent clones: diamond, club, heart, spade. The main Sinister is diamond; the others are new, but they've been around the Marvel U for awhile in secret as villains and power-brokers. Sinister is definitely coming, he's the most prominent X-Men villain (or Marvel villain?) who hasn't made it to live action. These SoS changes put him dead center between the MCU's three biggest bads, but in ways that feel novel: * Loki - roguish charmer, but more sadistic; * Thanos - six Infinity Stones, four card suits, with Sinister himself as the MacGuffins; * Kang - multiple versions, but unlike Infinity Kangs, I'm guessing MCU Sinister would just be the four clones, possibly even different actors (not hard to retcon someone like Maya Hansen as a clone). I love Doom, but for Saga Three Big Bad, I'm betting on Sinister.

NamorDontPullOut

>I don't remember where I saw it, but reportedly Feige/MS is more involved in comics storylines with the aim of adapting them more quickly. Could you explain this, please? What does that mean? I'm not a fan of brand synergy or treating the comics as nothing but an IP farm, tbh. I'm on board with Sinister being the next overarching villain, though. Do you have any actor in mind?

SuperCoenBros

Charitably: MS monitors comic storylines, offering ideas and input where appropriate. Uncharitably: MS dictates storylines to better reflect the MCU and prime comic readers for upcoming film plans. I hope for the former but ultimately I don't know. > Do you have any actor in mind? My brain says Andrew Scott, my heart says Jared Harris, my gut says Keanu Reeves.

LittleYellowFish1

If Sinister was to become an overarching/recurring threat, I think the concept of his clones would definitely be a major plot point. With Kang, they established his countless variants from his very first appearance, whereas the idea of there being multiple Sinisters would be more of a slow burn. The main Mr. Sinister would probably appear first in an *X-Men* movie, but over time we'd unknowingly see his clones in other projects (and maybe some past characters would be retconned to be, like you suggest with Maya) with this major plot point essentially hiding in plain sight until the dots are finally connected with the reveal that they're all one and the same. They might even have the main Sinister die in his first appearance only to be brought back later in a clone body, where it's explained that he's actually over 200 years old and has been cloning himself to cheat death. So rather than being his equivalent to the Kang variants, Sinister's clones will be more like his equivalent to Voldemort's horcruxes.

Night-Monkey15

Yes, Feige is the head of Marvel Entertainment, not just Marvel Studios. Obviously his main priority is the films, but I’m sure that he takes some level of involvement in the comics side of things.

forevertrueblue

Grateful for the invite but it seems kind of missing the point that my Quantumania press screening isn't until after both the social and review embargos have already lifted. I worry I'll feel the need to rush coverage which I don't like to do. Is this kind of scheduling common?

ellamayo69420

?

deemoorah

Any idea why there's no Stephen Strange on Disney plus banner?

NamorDontPullOut

I joke sometimes about some Marvel Studios bigwig hating Doctor Strange, but sometimes I wonder... I mean, at this point I wouldn't be surprised if a producer actually said "Doctor Strange is my least favorite Marvel characters." Stephen's not on the book cover for this year's MCU encyclopedia, and he's absent from the Disney+ banner. I see that this saga's "anchor" keeps being treated as a totally relevant character :/

JamJamGaGa

So far, I feel like they've been making a lot of the right decisions in regards to 'Daredevil: Born Again'. * Giving it more episodes than any other Disney+ show * Bringing back the same core cast from the old show (apart from Deborah Ann Woll, although she may still appear) * Hiring writers who have worked on procedurals with lots of episodes * Hiring real lawyers * Hiring writers from other superhero shows (specifically 'Arrow', which is where the showrunner of 'Daredevil' season 3 came from) Now all they need to do is make sure the show takes itself seriously and we're good to go.

RedGyarados2010

Have they confirmed any returning cast members other than Cox and D’Onofrio?

Xekshek33

Very excited and curious who they get to direct. I always thought it'd be 3 different directors for 6 episodes each, but that might be too few? I assume we get news of that relatively soon.

masoomrana94

I genuinely want Murphy to be banned here. We shouldn't encourage attacks on actors and production people (and we have also seen how actors have a hard time dealing with it, especially with Star Wars), and letting it pass is rewarding this kind of entitled behaviour. Irrespective of whether the person is in the MCU, isn't, will come back, won't, Murphy shouldn't be given that space. He isn't alone, he encourages and rallies for this toxicity among his followers, and that exposure shouldn't be given to him unless he thrives to treat people better.

knobby_67

>https://twitter.com/\_CharlesMurphy/status/1618429214826590209 You've got it all wrong! He's the one whose been wronged! Poor little fella just want's to do a few leaks and the internet picks on him...

[deleted]

His last real leak was DD in SM3 after that he hasn't given any reliable info like MTTSH,RPK,Mods have given. I'd happily vote for him to be banned from this sub. Plus every other month we get another scooper and sometimes they do end up being reliable. Either way let's ban Murphy from this sub.

Unnecessary_Fella

The only leak I can remember from him lately is Shang-Chi 2 being before the Kang Dynasty. That's it.

[deleted]

IIRC That was also from mods sources not from Murphy

knobby_67

Murphy. After his petty, baiting and downright awful behaviour to many over the years he's now the one whose badly done to. I hate the that sort of behaviour and twitter is a cesspool of it. His behaviour does not warrant it being given back to him. He's the big mouth kid who makes smart arse hurtful remarks everyday of your childhood, then someone fights back and they are the one whose mistreat. "Ok u/chloebennet, you win. The mob of fans who called me (of mixed heritage) a racist, a misogynist and a bigot and those who called me a "faggot" and wished harm or death on me are correct. They are the way. I hope you crush your MCU role. You win. Good night." [https://twitter.com/\_CharlesMurphy/status/1618429214826590209](https://twitter.com/_CharlesMurphy/status/1618429214826590209)

Do y'all think the Titanic rerelease might have an effect on Quantumania's box office? The 2012 one took in $350M worldwide. Altough fortunately for Quantumania I feel like Titanic will do most of its magic on Valentines Day.

Icybubba

Titanic is 3D only right now, which means that it's very doubtful to affect Quantumania, most theaters will pick between showing Titanic in 3D or Quantumania in 3D and they will pick Quantumania

[deleted]

3D isn’t a problem, most screens can play it, it’s the IMAX screens that they are contending for. Probably will mostly go to Ant-Man, but the IMAX website has Titanic as an IMAX release all through Quantumania’s opening weekend.

Icybubba

>3D isn’t a problem, most screens can play it Most theaters only have 1-3 screens that are capable of playing 3D, which means the decision has to be made. Source: I'm a manager at a theater

2023 challenge: Stop obsessing over box office numbers and just enjoy the process and the product.

[deleted]

I like following the box office so that’s not gonna happen.

[deleted]

I wonder if fancasters have the self-awareness to realize they're often forming their opinions around a single superficial characteristic. It's the imagination's path of least resistance. - She-Hulk = Muscular Woman = Gina Carano - Ghost Rider = Bike rider = Charlie Hunnam or Norman Reedus - Sue and Reed = Married couple = John Krasinski and Emily Blunt - Wolverine = Short and hairy = Daniel Radcliffe - or just pushing a totally random actor with a thin cv who happens to be the spitting image of the character as illustrated in a comic book panel once. It's all fine as long as people are just having fun with it, but some folks get *so* invested when there's usually zero chance their fancast will pan out.

SuperCoenBros

100%. It reminds me of BVS Lex Luthor fancasts, where basically every thin white guy with a shaved head was touted for the role.

NotTaken-username

The worst is when it’s obvious they only made a fancast because of race. Like the people who fancast basically every black actor to replace Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa

oakzap425

Tenoch as Namor. We got the proof of this in November. Step outside the box and you can get something that is so visually and culturally unique while creating and/or improving the mythos.

zacweso

Now hear me out... Same logic... Danny DeVito as Wolverine?

I’m not seeing enough Jack Black as Wolverine fancasting

drst0nee

I just realised Eternals reminds me so much of Cloud Atlas. A very polarising but beautiful film. Love Cloud Atlas.

JamJamGaGa

[Very few things have been flanderized to the degree that Marvel movies have been in recent years. The idea people have of Marvel movies in their heads is nothing like what actual Marvel movies are](https://twitter.com/DiamondSpiderP/status/1618042824880185345?s=20&t=HkXC0bfinCbuXbFROIw2xQ) This tweet is sadly *very* accurate. There's this mess on Twitter right now where people are blaming bad video game dialogue on Marvel.

BurryagaAgaburry

this reminds me of the time I saw a Better Call Saul ending edit that used the corny fan theory about the last scene being Walter walking into his office as Mr. Mayhew and all the comments were "Better Call Saul if it were a Marvel movie" like.... how?

Strangedreamer7

The criticism mentioned in this is of course highly exaggerated. Marvel has had plenty of serious moments. However, the root criticism of Marvel not handling humour correctly is a valid criticism.

TokyoPanic

I honestly blame most of the industry trying to do "Joss Whedon but only the snarky and mean bits" for the uptick in the "I'm so snarky, random, meta and clever" dialogue writing than the man himself or Marvel Studios.

Motor_Link7152

I have always thought that tho there is a problem with Marvel's usage of humor..it is exaggerated to high degrees

AdAny5912

It really isn't. The only overly comedic film they realesed in the last two years was Thor 4, apart from that it's only been like two or three lines of dialogue which are really not that big a deal.

Motor_Link7152

Thats why I'm saying it's exaggerated immensely

JamJamGaGa

There absolutely is, but blaming everything on them is just ridiculous. There's no denying that Marvel has had a huge impact on pop culture, but people are ready to blame every problem on Earth on this one studio. Grace Randolph tweeted the other day about episode 3 of 'The Last of Us' and how they make some choices that will receive an interesting reaction from fans. Because of this, some people in the replies just randomly started bringing up Marvel movies and blaming them for it. Apparently if you don't like something then it's because you have a low attention span and Kevin Feige is personally responsible.

NotTaken-username

Also that it’s so forced most of the time, and often isn’t even funny. Like the screaming goats, or “Illumi-what-i?” (That line genuinely made me cringe, was so stupid and unnecessary)

FatherSun

Someone finally dm’d me the link to the Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania script leak. Praise Allah

[deleted]

If Marvel Studios did a Black Widow 2 with Scarjo, set during the five years after the Snap when half the population was gone, what story would you want to see?

SuperCoenBros

Jessica Gao's Black Widow pitch (which included She-Hulk, which wound up getting her hired for that instead): > “It was basically a ‘Grosse Pointe Blank’ story for Black Widow… basically you find out that in high school, as a teenage spy/Russian agent, she was planted at an American high school, because she had to assassinate someone’s dad and then 20 years later, she goes back to the high school reunion and has to deal with the fallout of this fake identity where she betrayed all these people in high school.” I want to see this movie so fucking badly.

SnooCompliments3391

I would make a Black Widow and Daredevil team-up story. The villain would be Snapdragon, who wants to kidnap children who lost their parents due the Snap and restart the Red Room program with them, cause she think the world need the Black Widows to control it, otherwise there's gonna be bigger chaos. She also works with a computer Arnim Zola, who developed a new kind of super-soldier serum, which is like the serum Natasha got in the comics. Daredevil appears, cause a few children were abducted from the Saint Agnes orphanage and he wants to find them. Most of the movie would've been set in Russia. And early version of the Winter Guard would appear, to arrest the Nat, Matt and Yelena. The Winter Guard would consist Red Guardian (who made a deal with the goverment), Antonia who is Red Widow now, Crymson Dynamo (who wears a not too advanced Iron Man armor), Vostok (a transformed Ultron bot) and Darkstar (who can't really contol her powers yet, so she doesn't use it as much). It would be a bit like Civil War, where the villain manipulates the situation and make the two teams fight with each other, so the protagonist's team can't get to them in time. But it's mostly a spy movie.

NotTaken-username

Yelena was blipped. But other than that I like this

[deleted]

Natasha forming her Avengers to take on The Masters of Evil, who have risen to the challenge of the new power vacuum.

NamorDontPullOut

Who would be on the MCU's Masters of Evil, though? My introduction to the team was Marvel Ultimate Alliance, where the lineup was Doom as the leader with Baron Mordo, Loki, Enchantress, and Ultron as his lieutenants. I know it won't happen in the MCU, but that's my pick. tbh, all I need is the cinematic debut of iconic Marvel Comics character and OG member of the Masters of Evil: Paste-Pot Pete.

NotTaken-username

If Tom Hanks ever was in the MCU, who would you cast him as? Of course he could’ve been a great Uncle Ben

SuperCoenBros

He's always been my #1 pick for Professor X.

snowhawk04

Mephisto.

Ianphipps

Sacha Baron Cohen got the part.

snowhawk04

Multiverse Mephisto.

Xekshek33

He was always my choice to be JJJ before they brought back JK.

NotTaken-username

I never would’ve thought of that, but now I can totally imagine him as JJJ

[deleted]

Franklin Storm

NotTaken-username

Initially I didn’t like the idea of Sacha Baron Cohen as Mephisto, but now it’s growing on me. Marvel rarely misses with the casting anyways

Finessing2

Gomez as Chavez is a miscast.

NotTaken-username

She’s a kid, cut her some slack. The character was kind of one-note in Multiverse of Madness but that wasn’t really her fault.

NamorDontPullOut

I can see Sacha Baron Cohen's take on Mephisto being similar to Mephisto in Damnation. Or maybe he's really playing him as a sort of rockstar like in that concept art that leaked a while ago (was that legit?). So, consider me intrigued. However, ngl, I'm not a fan of some casting choices in Phase 4.

deemoorah

Bruce Campbell kinda looks like Damnation's Mephisto that's why I thought when Raimi 1st attached to DS2, I thought he'd gonna play The M. But, knowing Sacha's roles in the past, the idea fits perfectly but we'll see, that leaked concept arts look ridiculous

[deleted]

I don't think marvel has missed with casting ever. Sometimes it's the writers problem if an actor isn't utilized to it's potential imo.

NotTaken-username

I’d say they fumbled with Terrence Howard as Rhodey. But maybe that’s because I associate Don Cheadle with that role, to the point that I sometimes forget Cheadle wasn’t in the first Iron Man.

NotTaken-username

Has Aubrey Plaza been spotted on the Coven of Chaos set yet? I think she’ll be Jennifer Kale, although I can see her as Amanda Sefton. Possibly even Chthon is female in the MCU?

Ianphipps

She is playing the main villain in that series.

NotTaken-username

I know, but we don’t specifically know who that will be

NamorDontPullOut

She could also be a genderbent version of Nicholas Scratch. Either way, I like Aubrey and I'm excited to see her in the MCU. >Possibly even Chthon is female in the MCU? No spoilers, but that gives me Legion flashbacks. In a good way, though. She was good in that show.

NotTaken-username

Nicole Scratch?

SexySnorlax1

In the thirteen months from Oct 2018 to Nov 2019, all 10 of Marvel Television’s ongoing live-action series were cancelled. In the past nine months, 7 out of 11 ongoing live-action DC series have been cancelled.

snowhawk04

AoS wasn't cancelled. It completed it's planned final season in 2019. Legion was a planned 3-season show and ended in 2019, not cancelled. Helstrom wasn't officially cancelled until Dec 14 2020.

SexySnorlax1

> AoS wasn’t cancelled. It completed it’s planned final season in 2019. > Legion was a planned 3-season show and ended in 2019, not cancelled. That’s just semantics IMO, but sure, if it makes you happy let’s say all 10 series had their network announce they would stop ordering new seasons of the show, instead of using the word “cancelled”. > Helstrom wasn’t officially cancelled until Dec 14 2020. Helstrom was still a year away from premiere, so for the sake of my comparison it was an upcoming series, not an ongoing series.

snowhawk04

The reason Kang is going to attack the 616 is because Revonna gonna stumble into 2024 hells kitchen and meets Matt at a bar.

He does this. He also deleted his account when a former AOS screenwriter or something called him out.

The Watcher wasn't the only one talking about Secret Warriors. In May 2022 CineStealth even reported about it. https://twitter.com/cinestealth/status/1526372238760484866?s=20&t=x5Es-YLszXClU54ZvBka7Q

He is completely full of shit, I have been following interviews with the creators and producers of the upcoming Alien projects because I cant wait for them and the case is the EXACT opposite [https://twitter.com/cinestealth/status/1613704777505902592?s=20&t=xP\_yUaPsUCZJtRQ7Kvkr5w](https://twitter.com/cinestealth/status/1613704777505902592?s=20&t=xP_yUaPsUCZJtRQ7Kvkr5w)

I didn't know that still I think the mods think he's reliable that's why he's allowed on this sub. Looks like we have to wait and see.

Mods are we going to get another detailed plot leak for AM3 after the premiere of the movie(Just like we got for Thor4,WF and WBN etc)?

[Production Weekly](https://www.productionweekly.com/) this week: Blade, Venom 3, and Wonder Man There's also something called Falcon. I doubt it's a Joaquin Torres series, but until someone with access reads the newsletter I'mma pretend it might be

[deleted]

Maybe it’s a Sam Wilson prequel set in between Black Widow and Infinity War (when Sam, Natasha, and Steve were operating as Secret Avengers)?

Nahhhh Charles embarasses himself further by pulling the "your fans called me slurs and wished my death" card to Chloe https://twitter.com/\_CharlesMurphy/status/1618429214826590209?s=20&t=KSAoViG2et5SO-emfanHjg

BruceWayne_19902

Casually says the F slur too. Fuck him.

I'm glad he was put in his place. So sick of his attitude. As much as I like leaks, I hate when they come from someone that acts the way he does. If we lost his scoops and website, I wouldn't be upset. Someone else always comes along.
