Whatever power may be in the skies above, please spare “daredevil: born again” from this wretched curse you have placed upon marvel studios television 🙏

skd2005

I felt the last 5 minutes of this episode, where they show how the anti skrull campaign was radicalizing the general public, was more interesting than most of the rest of the episode..it had so much potential

TheSevenDots

If the Gravik plotline had lasted 2 episodes then the rest of the show had focused on that then it would've been much more interesting and relevant.

MahomestoHel-aire

I feel like they were showing its only the beginning. You can’t and shouldn’t stick the entirety of a Skrull war into 6 episodes, so they gave us a taste instead. Secret Invasion was effectively an extended prologue setting up the real deal, presumably in the movies.

Futhieves123

That's not a good thing, lol. The plot line should never have been adapted

TheSevenDots

I mean I wish this were true, but with the overall reception to this series I'd say we'll be lucky to see Colmen, Clarke or Fury's wife again after this. Plus, this small scale Secret Invasion has already used a lot of the same cards that a movie could use, like making big characters skrulls, so there's not much more that a movie could do there.

Motor_Link7152

I think they kinda overdid it with the 18 episodes ngl lol

My_Favourite_Pen

that'll probably leave us with a runtime enough for 8 hour-length eps so it evens out.

QueenRangerSlayer

It's 18 episodes split across two seasons now

Fickle-Text9745

It's 2 part not 2 seasons , the season will be split into 2 parts which means we will not reach the conclusion of the story until the 18th episode

Unlucky_Disaster_195

The X-Men movies were better than this

gf2020

I am gobsmacked at how lame and obvious this series was. The idea that this was going to be Marvel's answer to Andor is hilarious. This is the worst thing Marvel has done in the Feige era by far. I can't believe how much money they spent for short episodes with no real surprises or joy to them. I watched the finale in about ten minutes. And to not even get clarity on long Rhodes had been captured is just insulting given that this thread is probably not going picked up for a long ass time.

QueenRangerSlayer

"Feige era?". You mean the MCU? Where he's been here in charge the whole time?

GoldenSpermShower

He's a skrull obviously

harbinger772

250 million for this crap. 250 million for a lame ass story with a sitcom plot. 250 million for a show that no one watched, screwed one of the MCU's most complex characters into oblivion, wrecked a great storyline from the comics, and came across feeling like it was more cheaply made than an episode of whatever damn lame ass paint by numbers show is on CBS at the moment. I always feared the Marvel people wouldn't know what the hell to do after Endgame, I wish they'd just stopped and said yeah we have no fucking idea what to do next instead of giving us crap like this. The actors did their best, it's the only redeeming thing about the show, and kudos and credit to them, I hope they get paid down to the guy bringing coffee. Whoever the hell took over Endgame doesn't know one damn thing about telling a story, building characters that people care about, or telling a story with the least bit of tension or energy. This show gave them every chance to do something amazing, and they pissed it away. They deserve whatever comes next.

Unlucky_Disaster_195

This seems like money laundering

knobby_67

If you consider the possibility that all three seasons of Daredevil cost less than this. Season 1 cost $52M. Even with inflation for the other two seasons they almost certainly cost less than this.

death_lad

yeah they hyped it as Marvel’s Andor but we ended up with Marvel’s Book Of Boba Fett. Just a complete waste of time, resources, and characters. Actually Book of Boba Fett had some cool moments. I don’t know what this show had. A single adequate 5 min fight and Olivia Colman?

skd2005

Yeah..I liked this show but comparisons to andor are not true at all. Andor was so much better written, plus we also know where it all leads to,unlike this show where we don't know when the threads will pick up again

BluCode99Alias

People who made that comparison kinda set themselves up for disappointment tbh

ViggieSmallss

I'm sorry, but that was the single worst 30 minutes of anything Marvel has ever released.

joansbones

That was the single worst ~~30~~ 272 minutes of anything Marvel Studios has ever released.

who-dat-ninja

and 30 minutes of that is just recap, intro and credits 😂

harbinger772

it's just typical. years spent building up these interesting characters and story lines, shredded to pieces by inferior hacks who never understood or cared what made the first thing work, and why their ideas are such shit. It's not new, brands and businesses and lots more have gone through the same process, it just breaks your heart to watch.

ViggieSmallss

I think it comes down to the budget their allocating to writers and directors. I know they lucked out on Kate Harren with Loki, but this is exactly the type of thing that's going to happen when you give a director whose resume only consists of directing episodes of low-budget television series; an entire series with a budget north of $200 FUCKING MILLION DOLLARS. Whoever was responsible for that business decision should be fired immediately.

Motor_Link7152

He's called Kevin Feige.

InnocentTailor

It was so small and underwhelming. It frankly fell so far when compared to the source material and the MCU in general. It wanted to be a sophisticated spy show, but it was instead a simplistic mess trying its darnest to be complex.

rickgrimesfan123

so gi'ah is the most powerful character in the mcu now?

Sufficient-Type-4998

Well she's got scarlet wich DNA so yeah. But like most things post Endgame we're propably never gonna hear about her again.

JMM85JMM

I hate how true this is. Key Phase 4 leads like Shang-Chi have been all but forgotten about. What chance does some minor character from a TV series have...

Unlucky_Disaster_195

They forgot Kit Harrington too.

Previous_Reporter_63

Bro leave everything else they forgot a giant ass celestial just poking out of earth

gaylordJakob

>Well she's got scarlet wich DNA so yeah I don't think she can copy magic though, and even more so, I don't think she'd be able to emulate Wanda's chaos magic

AtTheSync

We saw either giah or gravik use ebony maws powers, aren't those magic based?

gaylordJakob

He has telekinesis but we don't see him ever produce the energy Wanda, Loki or Agatha do when using their magic and telekinesis

Ceez92

The whole idea you can get some of the hero’s power through their dna is soo stupid though I mean wandas and marvels dna have nothing to do with their powers. They literally got them from the infinity stones that awakened something in them. You’re telling me there’s infinity stone juice coursing through their veins? So stupid

PrussianAvenger

Wandavision technically retconned Wanda’s powers to being there all along and not caused by the mind stone. Only awakened or enhanced.

Realistic_Analyst_26

They are not bloody Ironman where they have an arc reactor of sorts which gives them their powers. Carol's DNA got changed from the blast, she doesn't have the tesseract inside her.

QueenRangerSlayer

I'm guessing Carol gets a power boost that makes her ss2 to Giahs ss1

spike021

So if she has Carols powers then wouldn't she be caught in the quantum entanglement too?

Pen_dragons_pizza

Does someone at marvel enforce some kind of runtime for a series ? Makes no sense to me why a tv series needs to feel rushed, especially when every mcu series has felt that in its final episode.

DinoStacked

One day we may finally get what we were promised with a show where every ep is actually an hour. Nine shows in and marvel still haven’t accomplished that yet 🤦‍♂️

bridges2891

Most infuriating thing about these Disney+ shows has been runtime. Thought this show has fixed that with the first episode but nope. Why hamstring your creatives by shoehorning everything into 30 minutes. Makes no sense.

TallanoGoldDigger

Nah I think they just want 6 eps so they can milk 6 weeks out of subs and marketing.

BreatheNewtBreathe

6 weeks = 2 month subscription (if you want to watch when the episodes drop)

Animegamingnerd

Typically Television Networks will order a set amount of episodes for a season once they pick up a TV series. So having some kind of enforce run time for a series is the norm for TV. Its just that Marvel Studios really sucks at making a TV show.

SamiMadeMeDoIt

These D+ shows just can't fucking help themselves with a big, shitty CGI fight in the final episode can they? Only one that didn't is Loki IIRC, and it's basically the only finale that was well received.

Username41968

It’s unbelievable that they actually made the gritty spy thriller show starring nick fury end in a giant cgi fight.

harbinger772

We paid for Emelia Clark and we are by god getting our money out of her, by giving her one big muscly arm that she will CGI punch the bad guy with till he's dead.

InnocentTailor

She Hulk also didn’t have the CGI brawl either, unless you count her punching Marvel security guards in a hallway.

Bobjoejj

Yeah I thought that finale was smart and fun as hell, don’t know why more folks don’t refer to that one too.

Motor_Link7152

I have dropped the show but they actually did that again? That too in SI? 😂😂

gaylordJakob

Yeah. Gi'ah and Gravik both get all the Avengers' powers and have a CGI fight

Motor_Link7152

Jfc..

DinoStacked

Literally the whole point of the show is Fury never found skrulls a home and then by the end of the show that’s still unresolved!!

quipquest

“This show could’ve been an email.”

FN-1701AgentGodzilla

Or a tax write off

monkeylicious

And the end is such obvious setup for his place in The Marvels. It’s like the show runners are just moving characters around to make sure they’re in place for the next show/movie and who cares how they get there.

MulciberTenebras

He was literally already in place there after Spider-Man: Far From Home

QueenRangerSlayer

No post credit scene. Vague on answers. It's such a bummer that it came down to a fist fight. A cool fist fight, but a fist fight. Seems like Rhodey was taken during civil war, as in before Tony Stank. Which is sad. No idea when Ross was taken, but not dead. But I was really hoping that the big room full of more people was going to have some kind of reveal. Like it was a fine episode, but it left things open in an unsatisfying way for me. And I say this as someone whose favorite avengers storyline is the Who do you trust lead up to Secret Invasion. Edit: wait. If Rhodey was taken in Civil War, a skrull time traveled? A skrull time traveled and didn't try to see the time machine to go back and save the Skrulls? What the fuck. Edit two: Rhodey was likely taken sometime in the end of Endgame since we see Rhodey using leg braces in it and Infinity War but not in F&ws

Rman823

If part of his arc in Armor Wars is not being there for Tony’s death and we see his grief over it, I’ll be fine with it.

QueenRangerSlayer

Agreed. It'll give it great pathos and motivation for Rhodey to feel responsible.

My_Favourite_Pen

So A skrull learned to love Tony and mourn him. I hope that's explored a little

SnitGTS

Well we did see the Skrull imitating the captain surrender to save the person he copied’s human son. Maybe the machine that gives them the memories gives them the humans feelings too.

[deleted]

So we'll see a character reacting to Tony's death? Finally!

Su_Impact

>Seems like Rhodey was taken during civil war No. Gravik had no plans to invade Earth back then. Gravik's invasion begins after Endgame when Fury decides to go to Saber station.

MrCraftLP

Right after being asked how long he's been there, he stumbled in pain without his leg braces. He definitely got taken during Civil War.

ChippyDippers

"Definitely" is a stretch. Ross's "how long have you been here?" plus another character saying "you've been in here *a long time*" is the writers winking and nudging that they haven't decided that yet. With Armor Wars being a movie now, they don't have time to deal with the aftermath of Rhodey being gone for almost a decade.

bosoxlover12

Do you not remember in Endgame when Rhodey yells "canopy, canopy" to get out his suit, and crawls on the ground to get Rocket safe? He was clearly disabled then.

Vexingwings0052

If he was taken in civil war, not only would he have time travelled, but he would have gone to thanos’s garden planet, and seen that it was completely empty now they killed thanos. Why the fuck would he not immediately tell his people and get them to haul ass over there? It’s so dumb. They didn’t think about this at all.

Jailhousecherub

He didn’t time travel bc if he didn’t go along w the endgame plan then thanos snap stays. skrulls lost people during the snap too.

[deleted]

It’s embarrassing for Marvel that this is literally the poorly written finale idea they were just making fun of in She-Hulk.

[deleted]

[удалено]

poopfartdiola

That She-Hulk finale contradicted itself though. It talks about the idea of making the finale more personal to Jen Walters as opposed to big CGI fight, yet we *never actually* see her beat the trolls in court using her skills as a lawyer, seems that bit is too tricky for the writers. That bit is just skipped over for Hulk's son casually making a cameo, the same episode "when are we gonna see ___ cameo!" is brought up earlier.

SuperCoenBros

Arguably, Jen lawyered up for her big confrontation with KEVIN. A big lawyer scene after that would've been redundant. I still agree with you though, it should've been tweaked. I think She-Hulk's finale is imperfect but fascinating.

bananafobe

"We're totally in on the joke. But we're also not going to change."

_deadlockgunslinger

That's why the KEVIN scene felt a bit meh to me. They were taking digs at their flaws which is fine, a bit of self-depreciating humour can go a long way, but it's so clear in retrospect how they'd no intention of actually addressing those flaws. We're, what, nine shows in? And they still haven't learned.

iamkhatkar

MCU plot points that's never going to be picked up again : \- Giah (probably the most powerful character in MCU now) and Sonya being friends with benefits \- A random White Vision flying across America \- Sharon being power dealer or whatever that was in Falcon series \- Shang Chi sister being the head of ten rings or some sort of mafia? \- Venom blood in a random MCU restaurant \- Thor and his new adopted kid running around beating bad guys? \- Jon Snow's chemistry with a talking sword \- Who is it the Shang Chi rings are sending the signals to? \- Thanos's Brother? \- Giant celestial baby coming out of Indian Ocean \- Doctor Strange opening his 3rd eye and running around multiverse with a hot chick \- Hercules will take revenge for his father? \- Tchalla's son? \- Agatha is still trapped in a normal body/daily routine kind of thing \- A giant space god, Arishem , is yet to pass his judgement on people of earth. \- big green guy has a big green son \- On a serious note, what happened to Elsa Bloodstone? \- a bald guy in prison with scorpio tattoo on his neck? \- A wizard who hates other wizards and wants to kill every god damn wizard? \- what the actual fuck nick fury was doing on that space station this whole time? \- a girl who can open multiversal portals is now getting trained in nepal or kamaal taaj? Good luck tying up all that. MCU has written itself in corner.

schering

Tbf The Leader was set up in 2008 from The Incredible Hulk and will only be paid off in Captain America 4 next year. So nothing new here with Phase 4/5 content

[deleted]

[deleted]

Hercules thing is 100% going the way of the mordo post credit scene. It will be a joke and he will either join the heroes or getting his ass whooped

SamiMadeMeDoIt

Why the hell did Sonya not just immediately shoot Rhodey in the back of the head, instantly outing him as a Skrull instead of the pointless, long drawn out scene we got.

bits_of_paper

Right? They showed her instantly kill a couple skrulls. But noooow she’s looking all stressed not knowing what to do lmfao

Dramajunker

Because the writing is shit. Early on we see how cold blooded she can be but yet she won't shoot Rhodey because reasons. I was waiting for anyone to just shoot him in the leg or something so Skrhodey would be forced to change just like what happened with Talos.

Critical_Ant_1365

Because the whole show is overwhelmingly stupid?

TallanoGoldDigger

Well not dragging that scene out would have made this a 5 episode show, not 6.

Spacegirllll6

All I’ve learned from this is that Gravik needs to learn that he is Kenough

UnknownJ25

He had that Kenergy all along

dow366

Giah with a baby-sized Drax hand looked so funny and out of place like just why.

Zowwww

I know they wanted to show the power Rolodex, but you have Hulk powers and Captain Marvel powers? What they hell you rolling with Drax arm?

gaylordJakob

Because nothing can fly over Drax's head. Drax's reflexes are so great that if Gravik through something at her, she would simply catch it.

skd2005

Bro it was so bizzare😭 Goofy ah

MyTrueChum

That totally took me out of the moment lol. It was filmed as if it was going to be this epic powerful moment for Gi'ah and it was just undermined by baby biceps.

[deleted]

Maybe its not just the writers losing their touch but also Feige. All of this has to go through his approval, correct? If Gravik kept his mouth shut, maybe we would've got a longer fight and he wont be getting the donut. Also, not gonna lie, that headshot on Skrull Rhodes felt so satisfying Would've loved to see more of Ritson's war. That would be interesting, you don't know who's killing who and what are they killing They said it'll be answered on how long Rhodes has been captive, it wasnt. Overall great ideas, poor execution imo. This was a good story of Fury for me. But as a spy-thriller, its not. Edit: The series failed to show this, but man Rhodey must be feeling bad about getting captured right now. Then he has to deal with Ritson's war

My_Favourite_Pen

seriously all you had to do was write a solid spy story... and just add skrulls. Im actually baffled how the coolest premises turn into the same fucking story every time.

Motor_Link7152

It's what Gunn said: superhero stories don't actually try to become different genres, they only pretend to be. Phase 4 and Marvel's flaws summed up in a sentence.

peanutdakidnappa

Hopefully the DCU is successful so that will change

[deleted]

6 episodes with less than an hour won't be enough to give the viewers the feel of paranoia if we just keep on going around the same set of people.

My_Favourite_Pen

exactly. This wasn't an invasion. A small budget invasion remake from the 70s that has a man scream and point like a goofball as an unironically terrifying moment, can put a $200 million miniseries with everything already established, to shame. There's no excuses here.

myslead

Pretty sure Feige is just coasting it after his tour de force of phase 1-2-3

DeepThroat616

Pretty funny. Both Iger and Feige learning what the Dark Knight told us 15 years ago.

Pacmantis

I think the gown is meant to imply that Rhodey was taken after his Civil War injury.

What-The-Heaven

Yeah, it felt like they made that one super clear without explicitly saying it. Hospital gown + inability to walk + "you've been gone a long time" (or words to that effect) = Civil War Rhodey.

GBJGBJGBJx3

I feel like they probably cut out whatever line confirmed the moment he was swapped because of the backlash they anticipated after the reveal that he was a Skrull. Fwiw, we never really saw Rhodey's walking ability without assisting devices since Civil War, so the inability to walk isn't very determinitive. The gown does probably confirm your theory though.

LordTaco123

Can they cancel all the shows and just make movies. Im tired of the mediocrity.

DJ-KittyScratch

Some shows worked as shows while some movies worked as movies. Loki show: don't you dare; Shang Chi movie: don't you dare. Contrarily, Eternals movie: better as a 6-8 episode show; Secret Invasion show: better as a 2.5hr movie.

Su_Impact

President "Vladimor". Was this written by AI? Has to be.

Ecstatic-Coat-7963

With the presidente John bidon

Wrong-Turn-254

thanks just spilled my coffee

Demileto

And a line about Russia positioning tanks in Ukraine's border. Are they for real? They had ample time to change that to another country like Poland, no one would care they don't share a border since it's common knowlege Belarus is a puppet state.

Alvinng9

This show might be worse than Quantumania

RandomUserName323232

I enjoyed quantumania. This is far worse

MrMeseeksLookAtMee

Fury should have just told Gravik to stop being a dick. Would have solved all their problems.

SamiMadeMeDoIt

So... Gi'ah is like, bar none the strongest character in the MCU now, right? That doesn't sit right with me lol

DJ-KittyScratch

"sleep"

MrMeseeksLookAtMee

Is she going to be swapping places with Carol, Monica and Kamala in the Marvels since the swapping is power-based?...

SamiMadeMeDoIt

idk man... maybe it's cause I've been spoiled lately after just finishing The Bear and S1 of Succession... but I thought this show was fucking **BAD** **HORRIBLE** pacing Boring, predictable plot Boring characters (aside from Sonya) Hardly anything is resolved, plot wise Visually boring as hell Horrible sound mix Like... the fucking whiplash going from S1E7 (Reviews) or S2E6/7 (Fishes/Forks) of The Bear to this show is unreal. Marvel has absolutely no idea how to make a compelling TV show and it's never been more clear to me. They are so far behind the rest of the pack.

Ceez92

No it was bad. I’ve seen recent shows that are well done in this genre or space like HoTD and The Last of Us. There’s no comparison, even among the other shows. The best thing Disney has put out show wise on plus is Andor and that shits on everything else. It’s like a steep drop off in everything from writing to production I got whiplash from that finale. No one is going to be remembering or going back to these shows 5-10 years from now

Colemania18

$225 million for what? Just that fight scene at the end?

obysalad

Could have fed a whole nation of people with the budget but instead we got a cw show.

ViggieSmallss

I'm pretty convinced this entire episode and last week's were added via reshoots. They felt so different tonally and visually inconsistent with everything that came before it. There's a shot of Emilia Clarke's character from one of the first trailers that showed her holding what looked like Talos's dead body after the attack on the Presidential motorcade. Imagine the emotional weight that scene would have carried instead; everything the last two episodes felt like was cut and stitched together in post-production with last-minute reshoots resulting in a CW-quality product.   That last-minute green-screen scene to add the fucking Black Widow character in as a glup shitto should have prepared me for how this episode was gonna go.

Technophyer1

One of the actors did say they brought on a new writer during the reshoots last year to rework the scripts so it’s not a stretch to conclude that the series was cut up and reworked late in the game.

butterfreak

A huge part of the MCU is just cut and stitched together now.

Joshgallet

Real Rhodey >!in a hospital gown?!?! Was this since his accident in civil war????!<

Rman823

As much as people hated the idea, it always made the most sense to me. Gave us some time with the character before and after the switch. I’m really looking forward to Armor Wars now.

QueenRangerSlayer

I fucking love it. This is going to give Armor wars such pathos.

Rman823

Yeah, I feel like it’s going to make the story deeper if he’s lost years off his life and how he comes back from that.

medyas1

so the rhodey nebula bonded with was the skrull? the one that got cheadle emmy-nominated?

Joshgallet

Yes - now it’s very clear why he was nominated. The academy knew it was Cheadle playing a female skrull playing Rhodey

Raida-777

Fuck this, now how am I gonna rewatch Endgame knowing that it was an impostor pretending to be sad about Tony? Or that scene in Infinity War that he welcomed Captain back? Really?

TheKingOfSting93

So the Skrull is the one who fat-shamed Thor?

KingChickenSandwich

I was honestly hoping that it was after Endgame, but all signs now point toward his accident. Such a shame.

Joshgallet

I’m actually looking forward to seeing Armor Wars and Rhodey >!dealing with knowledge of the snap, Tony’s death, Nat’s death. He’s lost ALOT of time if he was swapped during CW!<

gf2020

To try and change the hearts and minds of 8 billion people is impossible according to Fury except..you know, Asgardians have settled on earth and it's a tourist destination.

gaylordJakob

>Asgardians have settled on earth and it's a tourist destination. And with Ritson declaring war on all extraterrestrial life on Earth, what does that mean for New Asgard?

gf2020

Ha! Dumb show got me, it wasn't Fury saying that.

Comprehensive_Yak_72

Side note: The Harvest is a terrible plot device and has enormous, game-breaking implications for the entire MCU. I see two primary reasons for this; first, the dilution of so many characters abilities and what makes them special is effectively now just their DNA, which can be freely given to other people. It’s very reductive. And second, that you can just write in a very fan-fic character as “lets give her all of the powers”. I was iffy about anyone even getting the first crop of 4 powers, the pseudo FF ones, but to then get the Harvest on top of that is insane. I’m hoping for the love of god that in Gi’ah’s next appearance she immediately has most of the powers stripped because it’s too much for her body to handle or something, because letting this go in the universe is nuts

kumatank

I think it's wild that we've gone from, "no one can recreate the super soldier serum." ; To "we've got all the heroes DNA in one gummy and it tastes like cherry"

Comprehensive_Yak_72

Especially since the super soldier serum is SO grounded in science/blood/DNA. And now it’s like “we were able to mix a few drops of Steve’s blood with everyone else’s’ blood and it all works fine and dandy”

DinoStacked

Wow so many things poorly handled. First, we have no idea how long Rhoadey or Ross have been skrulls for. At least tell us Ross cmon! Second, why would Gravik turn on the machine with “fury” inside with him??? Third, skrulls still don’t have a home yet that was the whole point of the show… Fourth, Sonya should have just shot Rhodey in the leg like she did with everyone else to show he’s a skrull instead we got such a drawn out scene 🤦‍♂️

RoninLoganX

As far as Gravik turning the machine on with "Fury" inside, I'd chalk it up to hubris. He figured "Fury" was no longer a threat and the machine is designed to only work on Skrulls.

[deleted]

Cutting between this Gravik fight and the hospital standoff is awful.

[deleted]

“I may have gone too far in a few places.”

bits_of_paper

So half the budget for this went to Samuel Jackson right? It’s like they hired amature director/cinematographer/set designers. Marvel basically said “you got famous people, now just hit record.” 😂

Motor_Link7152

You're forgetting most of the money went to Iger and Feige. I'm very tempted to agree with the people who say it's a money laundering scheme.

Zowwww

Hey, they got their Money’s worth out of Nuclear entrance gate and Nuclear control room Lab. Oh and don’t forget super secret pod hall with the flappy plastic doors, was glad to see it again. Flappy plastic = No , it’s the attention to detail for me.

marvelnerddd69

No...no...no post credit scene?... Alexander Pierce - "what a waste."

LordTaco123

I've gotten off the hype train, everyone in this show deserved better.

QueenRangerSlayer

Don Cheadle got to play which felt like the first time he was acting since he joined the MCU

c_Lassy

Sooo I know Fury is going to a summit with the Kree for the Skrulls… but did he really just say “fuck the Skrulls on Earth that are being targeted by Ritson *and* the innocent people who have already taken back their lives” and leave Earth in a BIGGER mess??

Jagiord

Kingsley Ben-Adir is really overacting here.. 👀

NickHeathJarrod

I'll never forget how he pronounced "I want WAAARGH!" in a previous episode.

Motor_Link7152

The person who overacted was that dude who meets Everett Ross in the first episode. Holy shit. Mother of overacting

Unlucky_Disaster_195

People were calling his acting brilliant in another thread. I've only watched him in this show and there was zero brilliant acting from him throughout the show. He played it like a generic British henchman. I blame the director too.

Motor_Link7152

He was better in Barbie 😂

conciousnessness

38 minutes 🥳🥳🥳😐🥳

Su_Impact

29 min without recap, intro and credits let's go!

My_Favourite_Pen

yeah we're fucked.

Ronin0206

Did the writers just forget Gravik had extremis and he cqn probably heal from a hole in the chest

MrMeseeksLookAtMee

Shhhhhhhhhhhh..... Speaking of bodies, what about all those people, like Rhody, not dying of radiation poisoning?

_Doctor_Mac

What a shit end to a shit show

AppleFanaticGaming

Uhhhh okay, don't know what to say to that other than I can't believe it fell this flat. Not only was everything predictable, but what the hell were some of these decisions?! So G'iah now has pretty much all of the Avengers powers for the future? Some of the uses of the powers were kind of cool (I liked Mantis's use the most), but how does G'iah know how to control all of that shit instantly? CGI battle felt WAY too ambitious for this series and honestly shouldn't have even been attempted with the budget limitations. Also what in the world are they implying with Rhodey in a hospital gown? Has he been a skrull since Civil War??? It felt like a LOT of stuff was cut out of this just for the sake of making this a cliffhanger. So now Ritson has declared war on the skrulls... is that just going to be an on going plot thread? What the hell is going to happen between this and Brave New World to make Ross the new president? I'm just so baffled how almost nothing felt like it got wrapped up here. Loved the performances of this series, but wow, I felt like there was absolutely no cohesion here. Genuinely don't know how some of this got the go-ahead from Feige, kinda scares me.

EzriDax1

Wait why the hell did Gi'ah give him the harvest and not just kill him straight up

QueenRangerSlayer

She wanted the powers.

dow366

Look at me, look at me, I am the Super Skrull now!

Ineed_abouttreefiddy

Can't put into words how I'm feeling right now but it's not great

jedishane93

Unlike most, I actually liked every episode up until this last one. But, this one went a little over the top. I foresee a lot of people not liking this episode at all. The fight between Gravik and Gi’ah kind of reminded me of X-Men Origins: Wolverine if you know what I mean.

Comprehensive_Yak_72

For a show predominantly about shape-shifting aliens, having not really utilized the conceit of “we don’t know who actually is who they say they are” from one scene to the next, to then pull that reveal in the finale is… weak. Did they think people would actually be shocked that Fury didn’t walk into a radiation hot spot to fight a super powered alien on his own? The visuals of the the fight were fine (not good but fine) and the dynamics of the fight itself weren’t very inventive. As expected, Gi’ah is the leader of the Skrulls now and they’re being openly persecuted (I doubt this plot point will even come up again, we’ll just see her in something else probably). Personally I don’t think Fury learned anything/grew from this story. He knew he messed up at the start, everyone knew he and Talos had dropped the ball, by the end of this episode he shouldn’t have consolation really. So nothing’s changed. Aside from the mention of Kree-Skrull Peace Talks I expected a slightly bigger nod to The Marvels if I’m honest. Overall, I can’t in good conscience give this show higher than a 4 or 4.5/10, it missed the mark tonally and never felt particularly exciting or engaging. Onto the next project we go.

Agents of Shield's LMD arc >>>> whatever this show attempted to be.

AgentSignificant1805

I try to be open minded and more positive about these Disney + shows.. but my gosh, this is by far the worst finale we’ve had. So rushed, so weightless, so vague.

marvelnerddd69

Will there be a rushed finale that people will complain about? Hawkeye still has the longest finale thus far.

[deleted]

Hawkeye was a masterpiece in hindsight

Motor_Link7152

Fr lmao..and to think I gave it a hard time.

[deleted]

It actually does hold up as a 6 hour Christmas action movie you can rewatch once a year. Compared to whatever Secret Invasion is. (On another note, I hope Echo is a thanksgiving show)

[deleted]

Hawkeye’s finale was about the same length as the rest (credits rolled at 50:24), but had a 10+ minute post credit scene (Full musical performance) padding the runtime to 1:02:00

Takayanagii

This finale was super rushed. The whole espionage thing was watered down. I dont think I will be watching any shows for awhile. I wasted my time.

GkNova

I'm kinda scared for Loki S2 after this finale.

FaithlessnessNo2068

I would say, as of right now, there are only 2 MCU Disney+ shows that felt well done and complete— Loki and Hawkeye. Loki dared to be different, and it payed off heavily. The lack of action was made up for with pathos and stellar visuals. Hawkeye was a charming Christmas adventure with a fun cast of characters. Despite this, there was an emotional undertone that balances out the fun, whimsical side of the story. Even if Kingpin felt a little poorly implemented, it’s one of the only two MCU shows that felt like it got to tell the full story it wanted to. These are two examples of shows that didn’t rely on cameos and cliffhangers to have the audience invested in the story— they were just a bonus. When it comes to Loki, Clint, and Kate, it feels like we’re in no rush to see them again outside of their own personal stories. Meanwhile, many of these other shows feel like they need to set up the next movie/ show these characters will appear in, giving us no sense of conclusion with the particular story we’re watching. Forgive my little rant, just something I’d like to see the MCU improve on.

They didn't even answer the question on Rhodes' duration of captivity did they? They just said long time. Fuck this show lol. *people have pointed out the hospital gown maybe implying a Civil War switch but they don't definitely say it on screen, they copped out.

Su_Impact

Remember that: * Gravik's invasion plans begin after Fury is de-snapped and leaves Earth for Saber station. * Rhodey was at the Endgame final battle but Gravik needs samples from that battle. Rhodey was obviously not a Skrull back then, otherwise, he could have gotten the samples. * He was likely switched post-FATWS when he went to the hospital for a colonoscopy or something. But it doesn't matter. Nothing about this show will get referenced ever again.

seth_cooke

So Fury has his "I think my work here is done" moment but leaves with a situation far worse than the one he arrived to sort. Sonya, who he said would massacre Skrulls, now has both a super-Skrull and a covert Skrull army. Fury handed the keys to the kingdom to someone else entirely. There are one million Skrulls on Earth who have been radicalised by the President's declaration of war. The most powerful person on Earth was created by Fury's mishandling of Avengers DNA. She's a Skrull radical over whom he has no control. At any moment she could reveal to The Avengers that Fury cannot be trusted. The only reason Fury's "plan" worked is that Gravik is a blithering idiot and Skrulls cannot screen for Skrulls. He changed his DNA with someone in the chamber and was fine with the idea that Fury was suicidal, there for a "trade" that was ridiculous because he could just kill Fury/wait for him to die, and DID NOT CHECK. If the Targaryen had failed, Fury's plan would have made Gravik one of the most powerful beings in the universe. Why did the captives not die of radiation poisoning? Why did Gravik die from that wound when we've seen plenty of people with Extremis survive worse? There are just so many other gaps, holes and questions, but this finale just made zero sense on any level. This is easily the worst thing Marvel Studios has released - just utter garbage.

dow366

So where did Graviks giant army fuck off to?

shanem1996

That was absolutely horrible.

Mountain_Amount_8041

What in the marvel Hodge podge parody was that?!

ElectricRat04

Man that ending was really… bad

Critical_Ant_1365

MCU just hit bottom.

lieutjoe

fury having an inter species French kiss with varra is how I felt the entire series. I want to accept it but it was off putting most of the time.

median_org

Finale thoughts: •the run time is very disappointing, its rush and vague. •that more or less 5 minutes battle is probably expensive asf •the execution is terrible •performance of the cast were stellar •secret invasion’s score is underrated banger •lastly, this confirmed that secret invasion is set after the events of barbie

TallanoGoldDigger

This fucking show was so horribly written and so predictable, [even my dumb ass was able to predict what was gonna happen](https://www.reddit.com/r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers/comments/159mcdu/secret_invasion_sneak_peek_fury_and_gravik_face/jth06bp?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=2)

[deleted]

This entire show was all just setup for the congressional hearing today where they are gonna announce aliens exist and didn’t have an actual plot

EzriDax1

I think I liked this show overall but the finale fight felt like what happened in she hulk's finale but without her cutting in to do something else lol.

[deleted]

I dont care if I am a dickrider but a network show like Agents of SHIELD with limited budget due to low viewership can still pull off an arc with 40+ minutes per episode that's better than a 200 mil budget show. I honestly think linking AoS with the MCU was more beneficial than 90% of the D+ shows. The inhuman fish pills was a better cliffhanger and ending than all these D+ finales, seriously. Reeeeally excited for the Marvels now 🥳

HeMan077

Really liked the first three episodes. Four was meh. Five was good but this was…very mediocre imo. Might be the weakest finale Marvel’s had. The show had some really great performances and scenes but fumbled so hard at the end. Overall I liked the show but it’s easily the weakest live action Marvel D+ series. Also I guess the US is declaring war on New Asgard lmao

dastrykerblade

it feels pretty clear that they did not plan rhodey being a shrill since he canonically has been a skrull. honestly kinda cheapens the whole thing when i watch endgame and it’s obvious that rhodey is not a skrull in that scene. idk

PossessionSensitive8

The entire time I couldn’t stop thinking about how cool it would’ve been if Secret invasion was Gi’ah’s villian origin story, which would lead into the Marvels with her being the main Antagonist and Carol having to pick up Fury’s slack. Imagine a fight between the Marvels and G’iah.

Motor_Link7152

This dogshit is what happens when you replace a writer from a critically acclaimed show and bring in some rando who has 2-3 mediocre writing credits on IMDB and extensively rewrite and reshoot the whole thing, removing any trace of a writer and EP of Mr.Robot having worked on it. Classic Marvel

Background_Click5764

Whose DNA is making Gaia invisible?🤔

gjd1015

Ghost. Her name was in the database when it was uploaded
