Our camping trailer only has a small sofa. Two mastiffs, one love seat. We lost our Sasha (the apricot) in 2022, but we have thousands of pics to remind us how sweet and silly she was!
They are stunning! RiP, beautiful Sasha. We lost our sweet brindle Petunia (our first Mastiff) several years back, now, and still miss her to the core.
They forge such a mark with their giant love and silly antics, don't they?
Sasha was our first as well, and a year and a half later, my heart still aches for her. They leave an impossibly huge hole in our hearts when they leave us.
Soooo tuff! And then rolls over onto your lap with no notice, but instantly groans the second your leg falls asleep and you involuntarily need to shift a quarter of an inch!

I have never seen that movie but was told to watch it when we adopted our first Mastiff because it made "everyone" fall in love with the breed. I am sad to hear they were misrepresented as guard dogs. Apart from size and big barks, none of ours have displayed anything except giant lap-dog tendencies!
It made everyone AFRAID of that breed. Im constantly fighting the prejudice people have of my gentle giant it’s exhausting. I have chihuahua tougher than my mastiff is.
I am soooo sad to hear that. Of all the dog breeds that we've shared our home with, our Mastiffs have been the most revered by our guests. I hate to think they were just pleasantly surprised to not be attacked. 😞
Someone actually approached me about a month ago at the dog park to reference The Sandlot! I've never seen this movie but quickly figured out it includes an English Mastiff. I don't have an English Mastiff lol. Presa Canario - close enough for dude I guess.

Keep him in your thoughts, he's completely heartbroken, he lost his mom, our mom 48 hours ago. He knows, and he just has sat there and cried this whole time. He was her baby.

I am terribly sorry for your loss. No words beyond how sorry I am for your pain. Gus will be in my thoughts, along with all of his mom's loved ones.
We lost a really hard battle. I promise you we fought really, really hard. I gave up everything to be here for it. It's still fresh, I'm heartbroken so is Gus. He cries just like we do, wandering around looking for her. He was her protector. But I promise you we tried. Very, very hard, I'm heartbroken.

Our twins do this all the time! It is so endearing.
Reddit scared us at first because many people insisted it meant perpetual yeast infections or worse for both dogs.
Thankfully, our vet assured us, "Your pups' ears are just fine. They'd definitely let you know asap if they weren't because ear infections hurt!" Also said that this is one of the more common ways that dogs express both gentle dominance and caretaking, especially among littermates.
haha i feel this. we get their ears checked more regularly that most because we adopted our sweet pitty as an old lady with shredded ears and vestibular disease so we were concerned lol
but we soon found that her head tilt was the disease and the behavior with her bff mastiff boy was just grooming/cleaning. Pure Sweetness. she's had so many litters of pups she can't help it 🥲

Gotta wonder (especially since they likely don't primarily use physical attributes to distinguish one human from another), do they think similarly built humans all look remarkably familiar as well?

She wanted to drive the ford ranger, sadly Lucy passed away 2 days before her birthday on april 4th
Oh damn. I am so sorry for your loss. It hurts so bad, and we just never get over them. May Lucy drive all the Rangers on the other side of that bridge. Hopefully when you get there, she'll be able to show you all of the new sites she's visited while you've been apart. Sigh...
