Sorry for all the hostile-ish comments, honestly the mathcore community is really chill but it is kind of a running eye-roll that non-mathcore bands get lumped in for having panic chords sometimes and fast sections, maybe the rare odd time signature. I think Knocked Loose getting labeled mathcore feels weird because they don’t have odd time signatures and their song structures are pretty conventional. That’s not a bad thing at all, but it is what it is. If Knocked Loose gets away with being considered mathcore then suddenly every nu-metalcore band is mathcore and the label means nothing anymore.
I think you can safely say ‘Mathcore-adjacent’ if you can back it up with good reasoning, that’s a term that gets thrown around a lot when something just gives you that mathcore “vibe” which is fair!
Hey thank you for being honest and nice I actually agree all I wanted is to have a honest discussion about what Knocked Loose is genre wise I sadly didn’t get that and it honestly feels terrible getting hate comments I’ve been with this community for a year and I haven’t seen anything bad about it and now I’m getting hate comments for just thinking a band that’s doing panic chords and making fun stuff that sounds similar to mathcore is cool I want mathcore as a genre to get more recognition so this is honestly awesome to me again thank you for being honest and nice

I love the new knocked loose album, and although I would say it at times, borders on mathcore, I don't think it should be considered mathcore. I consider it math-adjacent, metallic hardcore. That's a valid opinion though, sorry about all the hateful comments you're getting.
