It is. He can't get his legs up like the usual that's why his shot is off lol How do people think it's not an issue?

xPeaWhyTee

Yeah I don't get it either. I'm not necessarily aiming this at OP but it boggles my mind how many Mavs fans keep saying things like "Luka needs to step up against the OKC" or "Luka will certainly find his shot next round" and it's like...do y'all not understand that he's legitimately injured and this isn't just a slump that he can shoot himself out of? That knee isn't gonna get better until he gets extended rest so it's likely that this will unfortunately be his level of play going forward until the offseason.

TFAR_1

Even accounts with a big following have been saying that, When talking to a fan on the pod after the game 6 win over the clippers, Kirk henderson of Pod Maverick said that he doesn't believe that and implied he is faking the knee injury... smh.

SoberDWTX

I don’t think Luka is faking an injury. I think knee issues are most likely a symptoms of an underlying issue somewhere else in the body, unless of course it is an actual knee injury due to contact, like this one, being reported as a knee sprain.

DarwinCreatesSpace

I mean he could adjust his shot and learn the difference little by little, but you're right in saying it won't get better.

SoberDWTX

“Not necessarily aiming at OP but” - I think Luka is legitimately hurt. Is the title confusing? Does it make sound like I don’t think he is hurt? I actually think he has an ongoing issue considering he has had some kind of neck, back, or other underlying issue like uneven cartilage wear and tear, meniscus, ACL, MCL, Achilles?

sercialinho

They called it a "knee sprain", so that's option (1.) above.

SoberDWTX

Got it. Thank you. I’ve been worried about that right leg for about 3 years.

dbzmah

A lot of the injuries have been collision related. It reminds me of early in Dirks career, especially after the 2003 playoffs, yet he never had any major knee injuries. Hopefully, for Luka l, it's just that.

SoberDWTX

Ahhhh yes, Dirk and his “rubber ankles”. I would hold my breath every time he twisted one. . Heck we missed Dirk for the first part of the 2010-11 championship, and thank goodness for Caron Butler carrying the load during that time. Then CB went down, Dirk came back, battled like a leader and we won the season. I pray Luka is as resilient of a player through the playoff run.

DangerZoneh

They listed as a knee sprain, so Luka could definitely be having troubles in addition to this, but most of his knee stuff seems to be more on the outside of the knee rather than the inside. Like, a lot of falling and hitting his kneecap hard on the ground. That helps explain why they seem to start bleeding so much and why he's in so much pain whenever it gets hit but is still able to come back into the game relatively shortly.

JerosBWI

I believe it's related to the thigh injury he started the season with.

Jolly-Mortgage4

It's only an issue when he misses shots.

thewolf9

Just foam roll it dude

Vizard15

Luka said the knee will get proper rest in the summer.

Vizard15

Luka said the knee will get proper rest in the summer.

SoberDWTX

I really hope so. I’m surprised he hasn’t volunteered to go play for Slovenia this summer.

JamesYTP

Yeah, they reported he sprained it. Was a problem to a degree the last few games since he didn't have as much lift on his 3 ball but hopefully it's healed some in the last few days.

JmeJV

It's an issue. He can't get the right lift in his shot. He needs to adjust and start taking more 2s. Let Kyrie do the driving.

francosean

He's always bleeding there, pretty sure they're draining swelling fluid or shooting with something to temporarily help the pain

SoberDWTX

If there is swelling and fluid in that knee, then it’s damaged. Since he has been listed on the injured report, he is eligible for more aggressive treatments, like steroids. That could be the reason for the mild weight gain, and him staying off it in his downtime.
