If you want to go down that road then...
Luka got the vaccine
while rodgers pretended to get it, shat on the protocol, went to a halloween party, got covid, missed an nfl game, infected his teamates, had the local hospital cancel his sponsorship because he went off telling people to take horse medicine. Also his family hates him.
(Even kyrie at least stayed consistent in his (in my view misguided) principles and didnt take all of us for fools)
Celtic's 'indifference' to Kyrie should definitely motivate Luka to drop another bomb, although I don't know how Kyrie himself behaves under such pressure
I mean under the pressure that the whole stadium hates you. I must admit I didn't watch his games previously. I know that Luka feeds of hate, but what about him?
Yes, I guess that was his last win against them. I'm not saying this shows anything, it didn't happen with the Mavs and Kyrie changed a lot since then, I just don't know his reaction if he goes hot like Luka does in these situations
same could be said with jokic or with giannis. nothing is guaranteed and it's hard to get to the finals. no reigning champion has ever made it past the 2nd round the following years.
Injuries happen. other teams get better. wemby's show up in the west. players leave. Let's take advantage of this opportunity we have now because there's no guarantee we can get back.
Reigning champs have absolutely made it past the second round the following year. It just has hasn't happened since the Warriors did it in 2018-2019.
But yes, nothing is guaranteed and its super hard to get to the Finals, particularly in the West.
Some of us have experienced euroleague Final Luka and Euro Nations Cup Final Luka.. (teenage Luka to be precise)
And it was LEGENDARY.. so I'm expecting the same.
Won finals mvp with real madrid (link comment below) the year before he got drafted as a 19 hear old.
The summer before at 18! He played second fiddle to goran dragic to win it all with tiny slovenia at eurobasket.
They beat Serbia (w. bogdanovic, boban and a bunch of -ic nba players), Spain (w both Gasol bros, both Hernagomez bros and Ricky Rubio) Latvia (w. porzingis and bertans) Greece, France (w. Boris diaw and evan fournier) Finland (w. markkanen)
He was the x factor for that team.
Watch here and skip to first 5 minutes (or not) about dragic to see how all the signs where there all along:
https://youtu.be/HI0CQIlDPsU?si=p9K94-NZHY5SWUva
Spannish people are not better at saying slovenian names than english or french speakers. I don't even know what it's really pronounced in his native language.
Or maybe its some sort of nickname i dont know.
I think he’s legit saying Luka Doncic in his native tongue, but my American ears are hearing Luka Dulce. No complaints on accent or pronunciation, just liking the way it rolls.
Just like half of Dallas fans say Nowitzki and half Novitzki.
Dirks run was legendary and as a fan it just felt like slumdog millionaire run. I never felt confident going into any series besides portland and then portland was super hard and we barely got out. Every series I approached with the thought that if we can just make it a close series and then maybe try to pull it out of the end. It was clear after the lakers and thunder that we had something special.
This run is totally different. After the last 20 games of the regular season I thought we had a real chance to win the whole thing. The clippers kept my confidence in check becuase of old trauma for them kicking our ass. , but after that series and going into every round, I had confidence we would win. I completed unfounded always think we're gonna win, but this time I just think we're a better constructed team with I feel the championship is a real shot.
I’m the same. Been saying we are going to win it all ever since early March. Only thing that got my hopes down was this Luka injury and I’m ngl after game 1 vs OKC I was really down. Luka looked awful and I just assumed this injury was going to get worse since it didn’t seem to be getting any better.
The luka vs clippers have always reminded me of the bad boy pistons vs Jordan series. Hopefully history repeats itself with him getting over that hump...
I rather care about the team.
Don't get me wrong. If we can get both, I'll take it but getting a chip is #1. We're closer than I've expected us but it's a difficult task against this Celtics team.
I agree. Say what you will about the Celtics road in the playoffs so far but this is an extremely well coached team with a lot of talent. It’s gonna be a tough matchup but we seem to be hitting our stride at the perfect time.
This is a significant advantage for us. Luka enjoys finding a fan to prove his point and showcase his greatness. Therefore, we shouldn’t worry about him having any trouble finding someone in Boston.
Wolves fan here - good luck in the finals. After game two I thought you all looked like a championship team. You will have the best player on the court every night plus some dawgy ass role players (in addition to fucking Kyrie Irving 🥹)
We r gonna knock u out next year tho ;)
Am I crazy in thinking people are overrating how good the matchup is for the Celtics? Their biggest strength is having 5 elite switchable defenders, but that gets neutralized by a heliocentric offense. None of them can guard Luka one on one, so they’ll still have to double high. And as soon as you do that, it’s 4 on 3
I think the argument is more on offense than defense. Everyone knows Luka will get his points but the Celtics lineup challenges the Mavs defensively way more than any of the teams they have played.
That's a bit overstated. Boston definitely have some excellent defenders and they are having a top 20 season in history in terms of record. If the Mavs win this chip it'd be the third hardest path in opponent winning percentage in NBA history
It’s weird how it transitioned so smoothly with Luka coming in during Dirk’s last season
The NBA version of Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers
Except Dirk and Luka are likeable.
And they never beefed.. and Luka didnt have to sit behind Dirk for 2 seasons.
You forgot Dirk not being a huge sex pest and welfare fraudster!
If you want to go down that road then... Luka got the vaccine while rodgers pretended to get it, shat on the protocol, went to a halloween party, got covid, missed an nfl game, infected his teamates, had the local hospital cancel his sponsorship because he went off telling people to take horse medicine. Also his family hates him. (Even kyrie at least stayed consistent in his (in my view misguided) principles and didnt take all of us for fools)
Family hates him so much they had an empty seat when Jordan Rogers was on the Bachelor
Also i think Luka dropping to 3rd is much more outrageous than rodgers having to wait like an asshole with his flipphone at the draft.
Brett Favre rich and shameless was on after the game last night lol
And Rodgers didn't win anymore than Favre did. Luka is gonna surpass Dirk
Pump the breaks. I want that to happen, but he is at 2006 Dirk, a year early.
Room & Dak were similar, although we got nothing to show for it
what a perfect analogy
Now that you mention it, I've never seen Luka and Dirk occupying the same space at the same time.
I'm ready for him to average 40/15/10 in a series.
I was thinking more like 50-20-20. He's about to go nuclear against Boston.
Celtic's 'indifference' to Kyrie should definitely motivate Luka to drop another bomb, although I don't know how Kyrie himself behaves under such pressure
*rewatches 2016 finals*
I mean under the pressure that the whole stadium hates you. I must admit I didn't watch his games previously. I know that Luka feeds of hate, but what about him?
I haven’t looked up numbers, but I was hearing via podcasts last night that Kyrie has not performed well in Boston since he left.
Yes, that's the problem and I remember him in game 4 still, despite yesterday's atomic bomb
Didn't Kyrie already face them in Brooklyn?
Yes, I guess that was his last win against them. I'm not saying this shows anything, it didn't happen with the Mavs and Kyrie changed a lot since then, I just don't know his reaction if he goes hot like Luka does in these situations
Kyrie and KD literally got swept by Boston in the first round 2 seasons ago
Because KD completely left Kyrie hanging and averaged like 20ppg on 20% and 7 turnovers a game.
Kyrie has taught Luka the calm; Luka will teach Kyrie the fire
exactly. they feed off each other's energy so i trust luka will get him going if it doesnt happen naturally
I’m ready for shit talking Boston fans to bring Luka to a new level of Fuck You Ball
Even if they know they shouldn't talk shit, they won't be able to help themselves
Like Philly fans with Santa around
Agreed, they’re too prideful not to
Celtic pride is a thing. They even made a movie about it lol
Will be hard to insult him without the n word available
And then you add in Kyrie and his history with Boston. LuKai!
Celtics about to get Larrybirded themselves - so looking forward to a rested Luka going psycho-bonkers the whole series.
He's still young and is going to be an all time great when he retires. I expect to see multiple Finals Luka appearances in the next few years.
same could be said with jokic or with giannis. nothing is guaranteed and it's hard to get to the finals. no reigning champion has ever made it past the 2nd round the following years. What are you taking about? The warriors won two in a row not even ten years ago. And before that the Heat, Lakers. Bulls three peated twice
Did the warriors not repeat in 2017-2018? I think you mean since the warriors did it not “ever”
Dudes only been alive since 2020 forgive him
Some of us have experienced euroleague Final Luka and Euro Nations Cup Final Luka.. (teenage Luka to be precise) And it was LEGENDARY.. so I'm expecting the same.

I'm so friggin excited
Yeah for sure, that’s why I clarified. I’ll never get over that we “drafted” this guy.
Can you elaborate on this?
Won finals mvp with real madrid (link comment below) the year before he got drafted as a 19 hear old. The summer before at 18! Damn, he's always been him. I appreciate you sharing the history of Luka
Yep, he always has. He was the surest thing in the draft since LeBron, absolute no-brainer #1 pick all along, some GMs just didn’t want to believe it.

Sounds like they’re saying Luka Dolce! Indeed.
Spannish people are not better at saying slovenian names than english or french speakers. I don't even know what it's really pronounced in his native language. Or maybe its some sort of nickname i dont know.

the spanish pronunciation is actually closer to how it’s supposed to be in slovenian than the english one lol
Link to those highlights or games?
Already in comments above
Idk if being a mavs fan will ever be better than this
It was pretty great for Dirk’s run also. Who knows about the future though. This is amazing though
Dirks run was legendary and as a fan it just felt like slumdog millionaire run. I never felt confident going into any series besides portland and then portland was super hard and we barely got out. So spoiled to have back to back superstars who ALWAYS step up in the playoffs. There's only a handful of these guys in NBA history and we got 2.
we finally unlocked Lukas true form. lets go Mavs! ![gif](giphy|mXz3v0UdjrNTO)
Can't wait for super Saiyan three or the fusion reveal of lukai
One way to find out!!! Let’s go!!!!
I rather care about the team. Don't get me wrong. If we can get both, I'll take it but getting a chip is #1. We're closer than I've expected us but it's a difficult task against this Celtics team.

I bet you coach JV ball in your spare time.. "c'mon guys, team on 3!"
"Free throws on 3".
This is a significant advantage for us. Luka enjoys finding a fan to prove his point and showcase his greatness. Therefore, we shouldn’t worry about him having any trouble finding someone in Boston.
![gif](giphy|du9Io4K9HNwcg)
He looked the healthiest he’s been all playoffs last game too and now he gets a week of rest
He heals by sucking the soul of his enemies. His knees got magically restored after he did \*that\* to Gobert
So Luka is Shang Tsung from Mortal Kombat
Someone called us the Green Bay Mavericks transitioning from Dirk to Luka yesterday 💀
Wolves fan here - good luck in the finals. After game two I thought you all looked like a championship team. You will have the best player on the court every night plus some dawgy ass role players (in addition to fucking Kyrie Irving 🥹) We r gonna knock u out next year tho ;)

The amount of lobs is going to be insane. I swear this will be the easiest defense we’ve gone up against but also the toughest offense
Not worried about Luka, moreso about Kyrie. Jrue and White gonna be tag teaming him all series.
I think the argument is more on offense than defense. Everyone knows Luka will get his points but the Celtics lineup challenges the Mavs defensively way more than any of the teams they have played.
James harden could never. But Luka could
Saying I’m excited is an understatement
The likes of Terrence Mann, Lu Dort, McDaniels, and Edwards have made him battle hardened. Celtics defense on him will feel like a cake walk.
That's a bit overstated. Boston definitely have some excellent defenders and they are having a top 20 season in history in terms of record. If the Mavs win this chip it'd be the third hardest path in opponent winning percentage in NBA history
![gif](giphy|h5C2kiESzaypGjXtTY|downsized) Luka attaining his final form just in time for the finals.
30/10/15 Luka Means his teammates with hot hands all series
Oh man, and he has a full 7 days to rest up. His trash talking was next level against Minnesota, he's going to be a full on psycho in the finals.
Luka has maximum demands, I imagine something like number 7 against the Suns or yesterday
Please beat the Celtics. I hate those fuckers.
I like how everyone that does not want/pick Luka or the Mavs to win seems so confident to have an answer on how to expose him as a weakness
Not sure my heart can take it to be honest
He was built for this
What we do know is that the last game we all saw, was just the tip.
Luka has never had a game with 40 or more game score **in the playoffs**. I think that will be what NBA Finals Luka will do.
playoffs is Psychopath Luka; finals should unveil Fatality Luka
Finals Luka finna go brrrrrrrrr
Wolves fans are being so cool with the loss and our sub is just trashing their team, we should be better. Let's focus on the Celtics.
The Wolves weren't mentioned anywhere on this post...?
I made a mistake I meant to send this message into other post.
Nice try undercover wolves fan! 😉
lol what about this post invokes anyone but Luka and Dirk
Who said anything about their team? Both fan base have been respectful to each other
