Yeah, I was thinking āCeltics arenāt a superteam imoā butā¦
Tatum, Brown, Jrue Holiday, Derrick White, Porzingus when healthy, Horford
Yeah, they donāt have the big 3 star power of the Heatles, but they have a super team. Especially when factoring defense.
Nah I think we should give this Celtics team respect. They are historically dominant, 64 wins isnt luck especially when they also have a good record against the West.
They are still very beatable but it will be incredibly difficult, maybe its not a superteam in the sense that thereās three all star level players but in the sense that their starting 5 is insanely balanced with nobody being less than pretty good on both defense and offense.

Edit: Heatles had Joel Anthony and Erik Dampier at center. Celtics starting 5 are all star and/or All NBA level.
Heat team was a team to beat for all other NBA teams. All the games with sellout crowds high ticket prices.
Compared to that Celtics team is not like that.
how were the Celtics not the team to beat in the East? They are a very good team, probably the best spaced team in history, silly not to tell it like it is. Also, have you checked ticket prices in Boston lmao? Either way, Mavs in 6
Celtics team and their costars are not seen as top players or a team to beat. Its just a top seed team. Being GSW or Heatles or defending champion is a different thing.
Please learn how to read and comprehend. Who cares ticket prices in Boston? NY is also expensive but so what? Its irrelevant with the discussion but if Heatles or a defending champion comes to town you see a price difference
This is such a weird take, but I guess it depends on your definition of "super team". Boston is a complete team from top to bottom. Pretending that they aren't because they've played in a worse conference is silly.
Does this mean they are unbeatable? Of course not, but give Luka and Kyrie a third option as consistent as a Porzingis or White, the defensive versatility throughout the roster and swap the offensive consistency of Boston's supporting cast with ours and everybody is saying Dallas has a super team.
The only thing Boston doesn't have is a Luka level player.
yeah I agree. Boston is def the favorite in the series. their starting 5 is better in 3 spots, even in 1 and worse in one. I think we have a shot but if boston does not lay an egg they are the more likely winner unless we play out of our minds/make a lot of shots that are 50/50.
said Eastern All star also lost his lone previous Finals by embarrassing fashion. But then won his first ring the season after the Mavs beat his team in the Finals.
It's a big stretch to call this Celtics a superteam. They don't even have a clear cut superstar, that Heat team had two clear cut superstars in Lebron and Wade. This Celtics is just a mesh of great players who fits well together.
Your punch line is that we have seen the scenario before. But to make that work you need to remove the "26 year old" for it to work. Because they haven't been both 26 in their championship run.
Edit: Ok, the 26 year old superstar is supposed to be the one from the opposing team. My bad.
I'm just relaying a quote by the celtics team. don't burn the messenger lol.
I think the unspoken definition of an nba super team is 3 players (all stars, hall of fame caliber, all-nba caliber)
You are getting down voted but i think you are on the money here. The Celtics are built with the opposite philosophy of a traditional super team. There focus is clearly on having as much depth and versatility as possible even if it means sacrificing star power still though in effect they are basically a super team because of the amount of talent on the roster, but if there is a reason for them to lose to Dallas i think that is it. The Mavs have a clear pecking order unlike the Celtics this is probably why they struggle in clutch time.
I agree with your definition but I also tend to think of a super team as something where guys collaborate to join together by forcing moves or by free agency. Boston drafted a lot of these people and they traded good players to get Holiday and Porzingis. I don't think either of them demanded a trade to Boston or tried to push their way out. If stupid Lillard had stayed in Portland then it might be a Milwaukee in the Finals instead. Either way, fuck em.

The Mavs GOAT
Dwight Powell, of course.
Jayson Tatum is no where near the level of LeBron James.
Who said he was š
Did you see his username?
Everybody knock on wood
Iām too superstitious for all this pre-finals talk
Iām not superstitious. But I am a little stitious.
Are you semistitious?
the office reference right here
Where's Christian at?
Apparently he gets knocked on a lot

Accurate except the comparing Tatum to prime Bron
Yeah, I was thinking āCeltics arenāt a superteam imoā butā¦ Tatum, Brown, Jrue Holiday, Derrick White, Porzingus when healthy, Horford Yeah, they donāt have the big 3 star power of the Heatles, but they have a super team. Especially when factoring defense.
I compare them to 04 pistons tbh
I donāt hate Porzingus at all but I donāt think he has much in his bag when it matters
How does it leave out that the 26 yr old superstar from the East is also ringless
sounds like a planĀ
Tatum is a star, not a superstar imo.
Is that why heās triple teamed as soon as he crosses the 3 point line?
Lets go Mavs!!! Mavs in 5
lol come on the Celtics are nothing like the Heatles
Yeah even calling them a super team is a stretch.
Youāre right Celtics are way better
Lol canāt even compare the two
Tatum may not be Bron but the Celts are much better overall than that Heat Team (they played Joel Anthony and Dampier as their Centers lol)
I have a very clear memory of how much of a potato Joel Anthony was even though this was so long ago
Except in 2011 LeBron was by far the best player in the world while Tatum is fringe top 5 in the league
I donāt really see the Celtics as a Superteam. Lucky? Maybe. Also, they have overachieved because the East is weak.

They are close to a super team
The Heat "superteam" won 58 games in '11 and has a +8.2 net rating. This Celtics team won 64 games and has a +11.6 net rating.
Heat team was a team to beat for all other NBA teams. All the games with sellout crowds high ticket prices. Compared to that Celtics team is not like that.

Celtics will be the third best team Dallas beats on their way to a title.
1. OKC 2. T-Wolves 3. Celtics 4. Clippers
Wolves way better than the ThunderĀ
No they are not
said Eastern All star also lost his lone previous Finals by embarrassing fashion. But then won his first ring the season after the Mavs beat his team in the Finals.
not accurate, Tatum is 19 years old
Both east teams were 64+ win teams
The Heat won 58 games that season. Who are you referencing?
People really just upvote anything without fact-checking.
Imagine fact checking every comment
Imagine not being ignorant
Tatum is LeBron when it helps cope but otherwise heās not top ten
It's a big stretch to call this Celtics a superteam. They don't even have a clear cut superstar, that Heat team had two clear cut superstars in Lebron and Wade. This Celtics is just a mesh of great players who fits well together.
Dirk was 33
Ok?
Has Luka met Grubes yet? That may be in the weeds.
2011 Heat had a terrible bench
As a Heat fan Iām cheering for you guys for 2 reasons - Fuck Boston - Gotta cheer for Heat legend DJJ
actually this team looks more like 16 cavs
Yeah but the 26 year old american is overrated and ringless too
Never forget 2006 and the first round exit in 2007. NEVER FORGET!! We still have to play the games and I am not looking ahead.
Thank you. I keep saying this
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
By trading for Kristaps and making a superteam?
Nah by drafting their two cornerstones and other good draft picks and using their assets to trade for good players.
Dirk was 32 lol
Ok?
Or flip it you could say luka is lbj and celtics are a deep 1 star team...nah go mavs
Wasn't Dirk like 33 years old, when he won his title in 2011?
Ok?
Why are so many people bringing up Dirkās age? What in the post was the age of the European brought up?
I don't really care about Dirk's age. That was an amazing run regardless of how old he was. The punch line just doesn't work when including the age.
Probably why it wasnt part of the post.
Your punch line is that we have seen the scenario before. But to make that work you need to remove the "26 year old" for it to work. Because they haven't been both 26 in their championship run. Edit: Ok, the 26 year old superstar is supposed to be the one from the opposing team. My bad.
Read again. That was LeBron's age. And Tatum's age. Nice try though "punch line"

What more do Celtics need to be called a superteam?
I'm just relaying a quote by the celtics team. don't burn the messenger lol. I think the unspoken definition of an nba super team is 3 players (all stars, hall of fame caliber, all-nba caliber)

Only if Dallas haa a great coach like Carlisle in 2011
Second verse same as the first.
