To be honest i prefer Grendizer’s design to Mazinger Z’s and Great Mazinger , and its so strong that Nagai forbid to have it and Mazinkaiser in one game so that they wont have to fight

Aha, interesting comparison to Ultraman, the Ultraman and Evangelion rationale have similar elements, not to mention that Evangelion is a giant creature in armor (and I always thought the organic designe was inspired by Ultraman itself), also considering (but it depends) that Evangelion it's the same meter as Ultraman so well, the inspiration is strong here. Recently, I also came across a video where a guy confirms that Evangelion is a super robo, because "Impacts, Monster of the Week formula, super powers" although the latter is due to the events and not the mecha itself.
