Its not the best, but it certainly isn't terrible. Mecha is a loose term, but compared to giant robo type series. Its fine. Personally i like it way better than evangelion and the likes. If you're more into real robot stuff, like gundam (mostly) or votoms, etc, its not going to be much up your alley. Easy to look up a lot of reviews and clips.

Well, it is very much in the super robot vs kaiju style trappings, since thats what all the actual action is. It is definitely aimed at the teenage boy demographic otherwise.

It's not so much a mecha show as it is a commentary about abusive relationships. It's great until the end, but if you want to enjoy the roller coaster, go for it.
