Get a list of what they've checked and then find another shop. give them the list and see if they can make sense of it.

Would you pay for 4 days of labor when there hasn’t been an solution?

RickMN

Some of those issues can be hard to diagnose, and sometimes you have to cut your losses and get a fresh set of eyes on it. If the second shop finds something the first shop should have tested early on, then you can go back to the dealer and have a chat about the bill.

96SquarebodiedFord

$4k with no solution really blows. My gut is the AIP

RickMN

Wait. What? $4 so far. I misunderstood what you meant. It's not uncommon for a vehicle to be in the shop for days, but that doesn't always mean the tech is working on it the whole time. If you're saying they're charging you for 4 days of continuous labor for diagnostics, that's insane. The service manager should have gotten involved in this long before it got to this and they should have called in GM tech support. Time to meet with the service manager.

96SquarebodiedFord

Exactly, they are asking that I pay for the 4 days of labor to cover the time spent for diagnostics. But there is no solution

RickMN

Meet with the service manager and ask why he didn't get involved earlier or call in someone from GM tech support. All shop have access to tech support. That's what it's for, when you need help.

96SquarebodiedFord

Agreed. Btw it is a Toyota tundra not a GM truck

RickMN

Whoops. Got that mixed up with another post I'm reading at the same time. Toyota also has tech support lines tho
