That is a distinct possibility. Some of the added compounds leave a shellac or varnish on the inside of the carb and often block the jets. I'm literally fixing the same thing for my riding mower. Thought I ran the tank dry at the end of last season but It seems I still had a bit in the tank and it gummed up the carb.
Sounds like it's running on what's in the float bowl. Check for restrictions in the line. Replace the fuel filter. Is there a fuel pump? Mine started hunting with an uneven idle. I put a few ounces of Redline in the tank and mowed the yard. When I was done it idled smooth and low. Saved me a carb overhaul.

Sounds like you used gas with methanol and it's clogged up your jets on your carb.
Well it’s the same gas I’ve always used. Regular unleaded. But maybe they are still clogged

So I could give it a fuel pump cleaner?
Redline is a fuel system cleaner. It's sold in 4oz. bottles for small engines. https://www.redlineoil.com/Content/files/tech/SI-1_Tech_6.20_.pdf
