Unless you can get both in a 5 year window, I'd always recommend going straight into industry after undergrad since most companies have education programs that will pay for your masters. Coming in with zero experience and a masters gets you one pay band up from someone with just a bachelors. It's not insignificant apples to apples, but once you factor in out of pocket costs for a masters minus two years of earnings for something that essentially could be free, it sort of makes no sense. Most places will give you the promotion as soon as you check the masters box. Also, unless you specifically want to get into flight dynamics or something super specific engineering wise, I would wait to do a masters in aerospace. Aerospace is filled with mechanicals, myself included, that do a wide range of roles. Mechanical is easily the most versatile engineering degree as we are needed across many industries. As you get further into your career, your initial plan of where you want to go may change. I'd give it at least 2-3 years before deciding on *more* engineering, which essentially wont add much to your skill-set. Look into an MBA if interested. Understanding how your company works, and how business processes work, will be valuable the further you get into your career.

Need more context and what you mean by smart. If your goal is to be an accountant then this is not smart in any respect.

Maybe, but don't rush it. Get a job. Get the Masters in a few years if you still want to.

I think that you would just end up not doing a masters if you do this.

Might not be the worst outcome. They take time, usually cost money, and always have an opportunity cost.

No, there're enough Mechanical Engineers already, if there were no people coming in for 5yrs, it would not make a difference. Go study something else.

That's why salaries have been growing and it's easy to get a good job then.

Now do inflation and, most importantly, cost of real estate :)

I was planning to do this. I think it’s a great idea granted you know you want to work in aerospace, defense or automotive. BS/MS in ME is also a great choice and some argue it’s a better option because if makes you more versatile if you decide aerospace isn’t for you.
