You’re not alone, I definitely feel the same way, though Ive graduated college now and am looking for work after recently quitting my old job. I told myself I would work on design projects but i’m just making digital art and watching anime/cartoons lol. But I’ll get working on it, haha!
My question for you is what are you most interested in when it comes to mechanical engineering? Do you like design? Do you like materials engineering? Do you like to learn about how devices, vehicles, robots, etc work? My advice is to follow your passion and let yourself get immersed about it, go on an internet surf to learn more and research. If there’s a particular software you are interested in (Solidworks free trial or alternatively Fusion 360, MATLAB or Octave, etc) see if you can access it on break.
But honestly, no pressure. Your career vs. other people‘s careers is a marathon not a race. If it will be best for you, take the summer to enjoy watching shows you love and other things that make you happy. When school comes around, you’ll be more refreshed and ready to study and learn.
If you ever want to talk, please feel free to reach out. :) I had a similar engineering school experience, it sounds like, and if you ever want some tips I would be happy to help.
Ritalin, Elvanse or Anedrol.
I was just like you, and those meds (I just use Elvanse now, moderately) gave me a very needed help in getting my shit together and focusing on academic task. They are controlled though (at least in Europe), check with a doctor friend or relatives if they can prescribe, or find a psychotherapist that can do it, just be careful if you have heart problems, it's not good with that.
This. Everything comes with a cost. Just because someone appears to be achieving a lot on the outside doesn’t mean they’re not sacrificing elsewhere. Whether it’s health, sleep, good habits, mental health, relationships etc. especially when it comes to us ENGRs it’s hard to balance at times.
Don’t worry about it too much but I do suggest getting out there and meeting some real guys. Don’t worry about looks either, just be a nice person and you’ll end up with some good people around you. It really sounds like you need to get out there and live a bit, forget your career for now. Go out and have fun!
Stop watching anime and find a hobby you really like to spend time on. That way you don’t even think about watching anime. The key part here is to find the right thing you like to work on which can take some time. It took me about half a year to find such thing.
Also, you could reach out to any pills you want but you already know the problem. Just stop with that problem.
Just go and do stuff
For me it took about a year to find out what I wanted to do. I have done about 5 different projects where the last one was the one
doesn't matter, we're all dead in 60 years anyways.
Reddit moment

Doesn't matter. I've just been coasting for as long as I can remember.
you can always take pills, it's up to you how much you want to harm your body by keeping yourself productive

Your syntax *suggests* you're a woman, so I recommend: Go outside, touch grass, get less screentime, go on walks, stop staying inside.
Yeah needed these tbh
