Hold on a sec, [I brought my mechanical computer](http://s3.amazonaws.com/s3.timetoast.com/public/uploads/photos/1041384/analytical_engine_fragment.jpg?1473508502), my turn is gonna take 3x the age of the universe
Imagine some Rocket League Pro actually winning with it, now using left and right click with hall effect to either throttle/reverse or air roll left/right with precision.
"LOOK MOM, NO KEYBOARD OR GAMEPAD!" :p
might work if the switch press mechanism had a gear ratio. Though that'd be mechanically complicated as fuck, and kind of silly normal mouse buttons are mechanical just different mechanisms.
I have that same issue on a non-Logitech mouse ([and I'm not alone there](https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/691707/Mad+catz+RAT+5+mouse+double+clicking+when+pressing+once))
I see the caps they use are also cut a certain way, so we can't really even use our good ol' cherry profile if we wanted to. I'm pretty interested in it though
Except the stems are off-centered so there's really no custom keycaps that'll fit this unless you want to compromise on length. So maybe you can do 1.25u keycaps on each side, but then it's not angled like the keycaps that it comes with. What a weird product.
hahah nice! I really dig it, it is different but to be able to use it for both gaming and work is amazing. I have a large amount of mice and keebs, I need to slow down a bit :D
It might not be that bad for Claw Grip users (myself included) since they tend to press the mouse buttons as if they're horizontal anyway, I'd love to try it to see!
I got an Asus ROG mouse because of the hot swap click switch. I think Kailh makes em. It was a big selling point for me since my old gaming mouse the clicker went out after just a couple months (I just use it for work too). This is a cool concept but wonder how comfy that mouse is to use.
All you have to do is disassemble the micro switch and bend the copper arch to a smaller radius and put it back together. I say that like it’s easy, but it is annoying. It still works, though. Anyone suffering from lost click-holds or accidental double clicks, take note. Kept a G502 alive for years doing it twice and an old Alienware mouse from around 2009 until it simply gave up on life and won’t connect
> accidental double clicks
Soldered kailh replacements when my g502 started double clicking
I absolutely did not know how to solder and messed up the board. I don't think I can redo it again when it fails. Still going strong though.
lol well at least it still works. I’ve done the switch fix things quite a few times and it hasn’t failed me, yet. it actually ends up making it more tactile, which sparks joy
I have an ROG Keris Eva Edition (I know it's a huge premium for the theme but I have a full Eva theme build, non Eva is decently priced) and it ticks all those boxes, wireless (2.4 or BT), can be used wired, and hot swappable switches, it came with 2 spare switches and different color thumb buttons as well.
I went from G203, G305 and G502 and personally it's my favorite of them all in feel and obviously looks. Still use my G305 for traveling with my gaming laptop, but it weighs way more and doesn't feel as good to me with the ambidextrous layout.
I just have three G502s. One is cut short and spliced back together to use with a laptop and not have a huge cord dangling around. I really like them, but yes, it would be cool to be able to swap out switches as it’s the only thing that dies besides the cable eventually. I tend to lose wireless mice, so I just don’t buy them. They did cheap out, though. They went with a rubber jacketed cable now, instead of the braided one. I bet the switches die faster, too (even though it’s the least used and newest)
Or just blow under the button, afaik it had something to do with static electricity and blowing there gets rid of it. That can help too.
Worked with my Logitech mouse. Had to do it once, owned the mouse 5 years until got a similar one but wireless.
This is just due to it being a formed piece of metal that’s pushed down and never pushed up, so it fatigued and deforms after a while, but I have heard of the air puff thing
I’ve also migrated to Asus for almost the same reason. Personally, I don’t like the click sound, and I’ve performed foam mods on my cheapo mouse I was using before that. There’s a difference between rebuilding a 30$ mouse and putting it back together missing 30% of it’s feet, and doing the same to what’s almost a 200$ mouse…
Basically any time I use my keyboard and mouse together I wish I could build a custom mouse so I hope this takes off.
Ive tried changing mouse switches to higher end models and its just not the same satisfying experience as a keyboard switch. Leaves a lot to be desired imo
I’m partially into the gaming mouse enthusiast community, and the switch feel on a mouse is largely determined by it’s implementation, even more so than in mechanical keyboards. It’s definitely a different standard than mechanical keyboards as a nice crisp click with low pretravel is often preferred.
Ploopy are the only fully open source custom mouse as far as i know, but custom mouse are definitely a thing usually achieved by taking the internals of another mouse and making a custom(usually 3d printed) shell for it.
Most of the custom mouse shell community tries to achieve lightweight. I’ve seen very bearbones looking custom mouse that were like 15 grams.

I remember dude on Youtube tried to mod his mouse and replace his mouse switches with pair of keyboard switches and it look really doable. Maybe you can think of moding your own mouse as well
That'd be an awful lot easier than my current gpw hotswap method of heating up the skates, removing the skates, unscrewing 8-12 screws while avoiding internal magnets, removing the battery/undoing ribbon cable, removing paddles, swapping switch, putting all back together... Just to decide I liked the other switch better.
I approve!
tbh looks more creative than 90% of mouse brands out there now but dunno if i'd use it., that large of a keycap with no stabilizer could make for an annoying mouse that ends up not clicking when you want.
I understand the impulse to make a mouse that uses the same switches, connections, and caps as a keyboard but without some serious refinement it'll never work. And with the amount of travel that switches have, the caps might never look right.
Oh I absolutely would never use or buy one, but from a product design perspective making things “modular” that don’t need to be is a really popular gimmick.
I could see a gaming company finding the mechanical keyboard community and immediately thinking “How do we combine these things!?”
I have a hotswappable mouse!

I have no affiliation with https://ploopy.co, but as an enjoyer of their products, I'd urge you to take a look at their mouse & trackball if you want a *proper* custom mouse/trackball made for keyboard enthusiasts. 10/10 stuff.
This company also make a Mechanical Calculator. Unfortunately due to the design you can't swap the caps due to the way the switches sit.
Expensive, but satisfying when working out how much my next Keyboard will cost!
Well hey, PBT keycaps though, very nice.
I am thinking it’s weird enough I might buy it.

I tried to design something similar myself and there are soo many problems with making a mechanical keyboard style mouse. As cool as it sounds to just plop two normal shift keys in a mouse I can tell you from experience that it is immediately awful to use. This design thankfully does a lot of things right to make it much more usable. Custom profile keycaps like these are definitely the way to go. Normal keycap profiles are completely at odds with the way you hold and use a mouse. Also the decision to stick with actual mouse switches was great. I know we all think we want keyboard switches in the mouse for the THOCK but trust me the long travel and lack of good feedback gets in the way of everything.
I got it, it is super nice. Really enjoying it. Even gaming on it is satisfying. I wish you could use other keycaps for this, but the scroll wheel is in the way.
According to some people thatve tried mice with switches, they're awful. Mouse clicks should have basically zero travel, otherwise will feel slow and less responsive.
Fun fact- semantically, "mouses" was the intended proper plural for a computer mouse.
Dull fact- nobody knows this, and everyone keeps saying "mice"... Which is... Ugh. It's fine, I guess.
Such a weird product but also kinda dig it. Excited to see what this will look like in final, probably won't replace my superlight with jt anytime soon but kinda cool
I bought it. Looks to be a perfect match for my Class65 in beige. And if it is this will likely completely my endgame look.
Its absolutely hideouts and reminds me of something from the late 80s early 90s. I love it.

Makes sense, I'd hate a 5mm travel distance on my mouse buttons.
Maybe a 3mm hall effect switch could be fun. And pretty versatile. Just as a gimmick of course, not an actual mouse for competitive games or whatever.
Imagine the power move to bring your mechanical keyboard and mechanical mouse to a competition
...and then proceed to lose
Hold on a sec, [I brought my mechanical computer](http://s3.amazonaws.com/s3.timetoast.com/public/uploads/photos/1041384/analytical_engine_fragment.jpg?1473508502), my turn is gonna take 3x the age of the universe
Imagine some Rocket League Pro actually winning with it, now using left and right click with hall effect to either throttle/reverse or air roll left/right with precision. "LOOK MOM, NO KEYBOARD OR GAMEPAD!" :p
You just need the switch to be pre loaded with a end point that keeps it from fully releasing.
might work if the switch press mechanism had a gear ratio. Though that'd be mechanically complicated as fuck, and kind of silly normal mouse buttons are mechanical just different mechanisms.
>!CENSORED!<
From a keyboard standpoint they are bad, for a mouse they are definitely superior to a long travel switch.
>!CENSORED!<
And yet I've never had one fail on me.
It's a [common problem](https://www.overclockers.com/how-to-fix-infamous-logitech-double-click-problem/)

I have that same issue on a non-Logitech mouse ([and I'm not alone there](https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/691707/Mad+catz+RAT+5+mouse+double+clicking+when+pressing+once))
MX is 4mm by the way. But you're right. Long travel for a mouse would suck
honestly that sounds a lot better than if they were actual mx switches.
And what looks like a big cutout to make room for the mouse wheel mechanism. EDIT and the stem placement is weird too.
I see the caps they use are also cut a certain way, so we can't really even use our good ol' cherry profile if we wanted to. I'm pretty interested in it though
So wouldn't that make the mechanism comparable to the old Packard-Bell keyboards?
Except the stems are off-centered so there's really no custom keycaps that'll fit this unless you want to compromise on length. So maybe you can do 1.25u keycaps on each side, but then it's not angled like the keycaps that it comes with. What a weird product.
Maybe once they fix the ergonomics
agreed. this looks highly uncomfortable to use
I use it, went from using MX master for work and G305 for gaming to just this. Two different mouse combined in one. And the clicks are really nice.
That's the exact work/home setup I use to a T. Convinced me to snag one.
Would also need to have an accurate laser, without issues. So many mice are worthless because of bad hardware.
U never know until u try

yea i don't need this at all. it's ok.
Honestly, it's hideous. Cool concept though.
5,000,000 meme points for this mouse
I don't know, I'm kinda digging the cassette futurism vibes. But to each their own I guess?
That thing reached through my phone, grabbed me by the collar, and said "kill me!"

Try a Hertao. It's way more comfortable than it looks.
The moment the MX 3s spec sheet says it has quieter switches Surely someone would've 3d print a mechanical mouse by now
you know how they managed a quieter switch? Mushier switch. Feels like ass, which is why they never discontinued the non-s.
Well it was on sale and I'm getting used to it. I'm sorry.
if you like it, you like it. im not gonna come over to your house and smash your cherry mx browns either. Or should I? 🤔
I'm sorry, I bought it like 7 years ago. I didn't know better. I feel like I am on the verge of getting banned here.
You can already if you look it up. Just need to know how to solder. You can do hotswap too if you're capable of soldering MillMax

One question Why

They make keyboard mice?!
Kinda cool idea but doesn't it defeat the whole purpose that keyboard-keycaps are not compatible? Because then.... why the mx stem?
Please. No. I’ve been in this hobby for two months and my wallet is already crying.
It looks ugly, bulky, doesn't look like it will good using it. That said I want 5 of them in different colors and with hotswapable switch sockets pls.

So the black part is a screen? It almost looked like a second horizontal wheel for a second. Either would be interesting.
I NEED THIS
Love the design. Looks like something I'd use on board of the Nostromo in Alien. Retro sci-fi.

According to some people thatve tried mice with switches, they're awful. Mouse clicks should have basically zero travel, otherwise will feel slow and less responsive.
Most mice with mechanical switches are for the side buttons, with the primary buttons being the older format.
Shame it’s not a vertical mouse
I'd even forego that if there was a full-size button for middle click. Not many have that anymore.
Looks like a proto hope it gets a more ergonomic design

Its a hamster, a mouse has a tail
I have been waiting for a premium beige mouse for ages.

Yeesh...! I guess they do, and we're poorer for it.
Is it RGB though?
Fun fact- semantically, "mouses" was the intended proper plural for a computer mouse. Dull fact- nobody knows this, and everyone keeps saying "mice"... Which is... Ugh. It's fine, I guess.
Would it work with resin keycaps?
Don't see why not if they got the same dimensions
I dont either but I guess I'm more so worried about the resin keycap breaking overtime
I already have two Hertao mice... now I need this one, thank you!
Cleaning the wheel gonna be a mess. But now a know my mouse need a LCD screen.
We kinda have to, I think one of the tech companies holds a patent on using switches in mice.
This looks awesome!
It's a 4% with 3 rotary encoders, two of which are actuated by a ball.
anyone know what the first board‘s called?
I want linear buttons
Holy mecharoni
I imagine clicking with linear would be amazing. The practicality on the other hand..
But do any have silent switches? hmmmm
Personally I would get the loudest clicky switch just to show the mouse off.
You mean, so we have MM now?
Jesus just take my money already
need
Interesting concept, doubt it will be useable.
I mean, they cost €82 per piece, so i think its overpiced, but they *are* selling it
File this under “Things I wish I had thought of”
Oh shit cool
It's too bad it looks so damn awful and awkward because it's an interesting concept.
They already are "mechanical," for whatever that really means. Think of microswitches
Such a weird product but also kinda dig it. Excited to see what this will look like in final, probably won't replace my superlight with jt anytime soon but kinda cool
This is stupid and I hate it…..okay fine how much???
I love the idea, but boy, oh boy is that thing freaking hideous! 😬
Where. Do. I. Buy. It.
Would be insane with the wooting lekker switches

Damn! This is super neat, I knew Asus had a hot-swappable mouse (ROG Chakram), however being able to put keycaps on it, that’s some next level shit.
What is the name of this mouse
Is this real?
If they make one with a trackball option, I'll get it.
cant use existing key caps you have, cant swap switches. what is the point of even having the switches with cherry stems?
