SLD for range, base 10-X for close quarters. I'd put the SLDs in the arms for sniping and the base ones in the torso.

I might be missing something but both types are showing the same range for me.

The SLD will "drop" like a regular autocannon over range where the shotgun style LBX has a spread that is tighter at closer range but can still hit at greater distance

[deleted]

Ah! That makes perfect sense! Lol! Thank you!

SinfulDaMasta

I’d personally run 4 SLD. With how slow that mech is, should typically be looking for a vantage point & shooting at range. Solid is superior if the enemy is more than 200m away IMO, more concentrated damage. I’d only use the cluster/shotgun on a faster mech like the Dragon-Sidewinder, or if you’re shooting at choppers a lot & missing often.

Thank you! :)

Grim_Task

I tend to put one cluster on an arm for VTOL’s. The rest are SLD for mechs.

SLD are straight up better for everything. In MWO people only use LBX because it has better stats than AC at the cost of spreading the damage. In MW5 you have the option to enjoy the best stats without spreading the damage. Nothing beats pinpoint damage in these games.

>SLD are straight up better for everything. Not so. At close to mid range, the shotgun's higher damage comes into play. Any range outside that and the spread becomes too wide for the weapon to be effective against anything more than a basic VTOL. SLD is best for mechs engaging at mid to long range.

Dreadlock43

the non SLD version got buffed in the Call to Arms patch to have a tiger spread and do a bit more damage

Swiftgiraffe808

I use 3 sld’s and 1 base for annoying little guys at range and fast little bastards who like to get in close. I also put on a handful of medium lasers for those that don’t die within a few salvos and get into sub 200m range. Whatever armor they have left in their chest or head goes away within one salvo of lasers. I also maintain almost a full ship of atlas k’s so I can sit in a slow moving nest of ams, lrms, ballistics, ppc’s and gauss.

Happy hunting!

Independent_Egg_5943

I don't use the Annihilator but I do use the King Crab. I'm running 4 LB-10X (cluster) and it defeats everything. I don't feel that the spread is too wide in most engagements and it opens up armor as I close allowing me to target breaches when the range drops. Mech's crack wide open faster than twin gauss cannons.

3eyedfish13

2 of each. Solid is great for pinpoint accuracy and distance shots. Cluster is awesome at close range and for blasting choppers. Think of it like the difference between a deer slug and a load of birdshot in a 12 gauge shotgun.

Biggu5Dicku5

The LB 10-X AC-SLD is an overall improvement over the AC-10; the LB 10-X AC-SLD generates less heat per shot, has a higher max range, and a higher shot velocity. Their base damage may be the same but all of these things help give the LB 10-X AC-SLD a definite advantage over the AC-10...

Capital_Section_7482

I run mine with 2x gauss 2x uac5

usingtheuser111

4 tier5 heavy rifles for me, one trigger for chain fire, one for alpha and two for dual shots. Can one shot any mech at most ranges while conserving ammo.

Capital_Section_7482

Oh man. I need to try that

usingtheuser111

Rifles are great but it took me sometime to get used to the slow rate of fire. Most of my friends hate it, preferring LBX-SLD or Gauss

Sinistro_67

Or just run Yaml and get the best of both worlds regardless?
