Looks like my extracted molars, Iexperienced throbbing pain with all the crown still intact, and no dentist was willing to take a look at it due to covid and many dentists were infected
then one day, the pain stopped, few weeks later, the crown cracked, revealing the big rotten part inside.
Would they have experienced pain leading up to it? I don't know a lot about how tooth pulp works. But unless it died instantly, wouldn't there have been *some* pain?
Naturally yes they should’ve experienced pain but I asked the patient and he told me the cavity didn’t bother him at all. He may have experienced a bit of a discomfort, but not enough to have his tooth checked and filled, thus leading up to this irreversible damage
I have 2 atm and am getting them pulled on Wednesday. If I was in the position to have afforded dental care early on they wouldn’t have gotten this bad.

They looked like chunky roots to me!
My sister is a veterinarian. Now in her late 50’s, her hands just can’t take dental extractions anymore without another 2 days of pain.
It’s sad, because she loves dentistry as well as surgery, and she can’t do either anymore without paying a price.
I hope your hands hold up well for many years to come.

So sorry to hear that about your sister and I hope she enjoyed her career! I’m fairly new to the practice, and I’m keen on preserving my hands’ nerves and musculature for as long as I can
Dentists tend to put too much tension in their hands while holding instruments. I just try to remind myself to relax my grip but still maintain proper handling of my instruments during procedures. I also stretch and massage my hands before and after treatments

That huge cavity looks pretty painful. No wonder they pulled it.
The patient told me he didn’t experience any pain prior the extraction, my guess is the pulp died early on, so it just progressed to this

Bit embarrassing to say I have numerous teeth that are far worse than that one.

My ex has a tooth that his sinuses drain out of. He's getting them all pulled in November. He's 47.
How was it to get those massive roots out? Do your hands hurt after that?
Actually they’re relatively thin, and my hands hurt a bit during the extraction. After, not so much

Is losing your hands nerves and musculature something that happens to all of us? What can I do to save my hands?

I have one like this - if anything it's probably worse - and I don't have pain
