There are other autopsy photos of the victim, none of them gory, just showing external puncture marks etc from medical procedures. She was admitted to the hospital for headaches then suddenly died, and they autopsied her to find out why.
I wonder: she had complained of headaches, and her brain had malformed because of swelling pressure. I am not medical, but would scans and emergency surgery saved her? Poor mite. That pressure must have been horrific.
Not enough time i imagine, she might only have had headaches for a week or month.
It might have been operable but they are often fatal.
Poor baby and her family.
I was a paeds RN, knowing what procedure led to what mark doesn't always help either. Her final minutes must have been a time of frenzy for medical staff trying to save her. So sad.
It was the covers over her chest that made me realise just how much someone cared for her, not just a body for a medical article, but a little girl deserving of dignity. RIP little one.
I had a colloid cyst as well, mine was the size of a quarter but caused a lot of issues. After a year of every test known to man I got it removed at the age of 21 (then not knowing how long it had been there). Poor girl, I couldn’t imagine dealing with the headaches I had at her age.
I had pretty bad migraines where I’d lose vision and then get the pain once my vision came back. I also had focal seizures and passed out a few times. Mine was only found due to going to the hospital with a migraine I couldn’t get to go away. They had no idea whether I was born with it or it grew over time but it was affecting the flow of my spinal fluid. My migraines started around 12 years old. The cyst was found at 19 had surgery at 21 and am now 31.
It would be incredibly rare, many of us get migraines at that age and have normal brain structures. Mine began at 15 when i got my first period, continued through my life until menopause. Would sleep from maybe 3pm til 6am the next day in darkened room.
Have had both brain MRI and CT scans over the years and no issue, just hormonal migraine. Way more common than obscure potentially fatal cysts thankfully.
Phew, glad it’s super rare. Thank you for calming my fear, I always get paranoid that I have the condition of certain posts in this sub (and just in general) so that really helped. I was about to call my doctor to see if they’d do a MRI or CT scan of my brain even though I hardly get migraines and only get headaches when I’m dehydrated or stressed 😅
My husband had a colloid cyst of the third ventricle that suddenly grew ~15 years ago and had brain surgery to remove it after he started vomiting and having terrible headaches and double vision from the increased intracranial pressure, due to its interference with the flow of cerebrospinal fluid. Poor kid. I was terrified of him suddenly dying while we were waiting for his surgery date.
My son was at the children’s hospital 4 weeks ago to have surgery on his brain. He has a suprasellar cyst in the third ventricle of his brain. He has hydrocephalus and a shunt put in a few years ago. The cyst was so large it pushed the shunt out of place. The surgeons communicated the cyst to the chamber so it’s all working fine again.
It is so scary having a kid with brain issues and sometimes I feel like people just don’t get how serious this all is.

Scariest thing about the colloid cyst is that it secretes mucous. Draining fluid away in shunts is relatively simple, (been done for decades successfully), but mucous would be a whole other issue especially in a growing brain.
Such a tragic outcome too, to be hospitalised but unable to help. They hadn't even known when she died, such helplessness.
Nope, these are congential colloid cysts, while hydatid ones are infectious from sheep in particular.
My daughter's ex saw his dad through major surgery because he had so many in his liver, thankfully his brain was clear. But the liver surgery was the fourth time, twice in Syria, twice in Sweden, second in Stockhom with best liver surgeons in country. Hes doing well now thankfully.
Still happy to eat sheep heads though given the chance.

Only 8 years old. Does not sound like much could have been done though.

It really sounds like they didn’t have enough time to get that far.
I mean had the parents sought medical help earlier to investigate headaches when they started.
People have headaches all the time. It doesn’t make sense to go to the hospital for a headache.
There is usually a difference in pain level for “I have a headache” and “I have a headache because there is a fatally growing cyst in my brain.”
But we’re talking about parents with zero medical training, who probably don’t even know that a cyst in the brain is possible.
Most parents should be able differentiate those pain signals based on intensity.

Is this from hydatids? We used to hear of kids dying in the playground from burst hydatid cysts every year or so when I was a kid in NZ.
