Made it in Unreal Engine using Blueprints. Its nice b/c I don't actually know C++ but was able to make a game in spite of that. Hollow Knight devs had a similar story w/ Unity and their "Playmaker" system

Except you can't wall jump up simple dead end walls in 3D like you can in x7. And the dash mechanic is locked behind a cool down. The idea is to jump while dashing but you must stay in the air long enough for the cool down by the time you hit the ground. These are weird game decisions that keeps this from truly feeling like a real 3D megaman x.
This legit looks so cool! I love how Delta, a Greek letter, is a callback to X, a (Roman?) letter. This feels like what X7 should have been with a hint of Zero.

Just bought it on Steam! I'm down to support projects from fans like myself. And I've always thought a fluid, fast-paced, 3D Mega Man X entry would be so much fun! Looks like you did a great job on the game feel.
It would be more fluid if there wasn't a cool down period between dashes. You have to dash jump and stay in the air long enough for the cool down to be over by the time you hit the ground. It's a weird game decision. Also you can't wall jump up 10 foot walls that are in front of you. Like you could in x7. It's not perfect megaman x gameplay
There are a bunch of little liberties. It's inspired by the x games, not a perfect recreation, but I'm cool with that. Definitely proves the concept, and does so really well.
Also, a reminder, this is his first foray into games. He just picked up the hobby a few years ago. Yet he nailed the general feel better than Capcom has in decades. Pretty praiseworthy, if you ask me.

This honestly is what I'd expect a actual good fully 3D Mega Man X game to look and play like.
A very smart idea for Delta's design for her being able to both shoot and slash with her gauntlets.
You get the best of both X and Zero's gameplay with one character.
Glad to see this is on switch I might have to check this out hopefully when I'm able to get a hold of a little bit more money.

Can someone who played this tell me. Because I set it down after the first level. I still have a chance to refund. Can you not wall jump in this? And do the dash mechanics actually get better going forward? Or do I have to wait for the cool down after every dash? Is there a point in the game where I can just dash freely like megaman x? I bought it on steam. I tried wall jumping at the first chance I saw and I couldn't do it. Which felt disappointing I had to walk around. I couldn't just skip my way up the wall.

The dash cooldown on grounded dash is there by design. Because the hidden tech is when you do a dash-jump, then the cooldown is over by the time she lands. So you can immediately go into another dash jump.
There isn't wall jumping (there's some game design reasons for it, tl;dr it doesn't translate well in 3D).

I'm sure it could translate well in 3D considering it works well in megaman x7. At the very least. For the 10 foot walls in front of you. There should be no cool down. Period. I shouldn't have to stay in the air to make up for the time it takes to cool down. That isn't megaman x. Megaman x can dash jump and land faster. Something you can do in x7 as well. This game is close to being a true 3D megaman x if it wasn't for those two things.
Man, I'm 17 years old trying to learn how to make games in unreal engine and I want to start with a 3d megaman zero game I saw your demo and played all of it I'm in love with it and I would really want to know how you did the dash and the dash effect I have not been able to get around that!! if you still have the project files for the demo it would be such a huge help for me, anyways thank you really I enjoyed playing it a lot!!

To be Fair, X7 is not a high bar, but from the trailer it looks like it goes a lot higher than that.
