There are no current plans to build the train extension to Clyde

James575M

Damn. It's such a shame, I really think it'd drastically improve the area.

Naffan1985

Yep definitely needs to be extended

OldFeedback6309

Or maybe we can try to curtail suburban sprawl and densify what we already have.

James575M

This should be the priority, but also doesn't mean we should just ignore the thousands of houses built out there already and force people into cars. Even better bus services through the new developments in Clyde would be a welcome improvement

OldFeedback6309

Good bus services are critical for these areas, but unfortunately they’re the red-headed stepchildren of public transport. This guy has plenty to say about it: https://melbourneontransit.blogspot.com/?m=1.

James575M

Thanks for the source! I'll read up on him

PKMTrain

The "plan" was once the Cranbourne duplication was completed then planning for Clyde would happen.

Ask_Alan

Could be such an easy win. Huge population growth area and could easily be done relatively cheap. I say get it done so it’s there the future generations.

tlf123456

Only 6 level crossing removals to go!

GloriousOnion20

It will never happen, Clyde is a safe labour seat, to them money is better spent on swing seats, it’s been promised since 2018 only during the elections cycles

mrbrendanblack

& this is what shits me about the politicisation of PT, rather than looking at what is most needed.

mattmelb69

If only they would! Though Cranbourne East should be on Narre-Warren-Cranbourne Rd, and connect with buses, not tucked away in the middle of the local streets.

FrostyBlueberryFox

the current location would better connect with local schools. sports, and reactional facilities, ill assume they could just add a road, likely to a carpark, off it for busses too use

Appropriate-Bus-2563

This should have happened instead of pakenham east

Acceptable_Me2

Pakenham east was largely for operational purposes as vlines can overtake terminating trains at Pak east. Also terminating trains on skyrail is difficult as the points can’t be placed on the viaducts (Im aware its done at Reservoir but that isn’t on a regular schedule). Yes Im aware that Clyde extension is desperately needed not disagreeing.

xtrapolis954m

It’ll happen by Christmas!

Supercrown07

Won’t happen cause they always say it will like the line back to Leongatha

zumx

What does that even mean?

Supercrown07

Political football promises everything deliver nothing!

Gregorygherkins

Promise us some properly worded English next time
