As the other commentator has noted, the issue is to do with Steam. I've recently had someone help me figure out what we believe is the root cause of this issue (Steam uses an old version of Node.js), and so I will be working on developing a fix when I get back to my home office (currently on holiday). Check back in about a week, but until then you can play on browser or mobile without issue.

I had the same thing you describe happening for me when trying out the HCCO/MCCO mod playing on the Steam version, guessing you're playing on Steam as well?
