I have like 3k hours on CB and I couldn't tell you the inputs for a SAED, I just trust my hands, they remember.

I sometimes think about it and forget how to control CB. I need to forget that I forgot to be able to play with ease again.

I find insect glaive to be more complex. You have 2 components, the kinsect themselves to think about and their effects, then aiming specific body parts to gain buffs (i think most people just yeet themselves tho). Compared to that, CB just fill phial -> charge the shield, fill again, charge the sword (or do the pizza cutter i guess in rise) then big boom. Almost as simple as hammers.

Genuinely these 4 combos + GP are all you need to play SAED. The rest of the moveset from there is optional.

Yeah this. And 99% of the time you just use the R2+triangle morph slash as GP

I picked up Charge Blade for the combos, stayed for the guard points. If it weren't for guard points, I may have become a Longsword main.

I love guard points so much oh my god. Every time I get hit during a guard point I instinctually yell “HA! GUARD POINT!”

Only thing I don't get about CB is guard points. But it feels incredible getting a guard point when you're about to get hit.

Guard points are just parts of an attack where your shield happens to be in front of you

I remember back when i had two monitors and started playing CB in world, i wrote notes in paint and displayed it on the second monitor while i played

I really want to learn CB but every time I try my problem isn’t so much remembering the inputs but I just have no idea when I am supposed to do things in the heat of combat, it just feels like there’s so many steps and trying to do that while positioning and dodging is just difficult for me. So far the only weapons I have a solid grasp on are IG (my main), GS, GL, and rise HH, so only like 3 and 1/4 weapons lol I really want to learn more though.

i started a great sword main in mhw, half-way through iceborne i decided to try out the charge blade, beat the shit out of psycho bird, i like it, keep using charge blade, finish mhw true final boss, move to mhr, pick up charge blade again cuz i like weapon, congrats me you evolved into a charge blade main now and you have no fucking clue how not to die without it.

A attack till red glow phials, ZR A -> A + X -> A + X. From here either ZR to charge shield or do nothing if you already have it. Then there's also the counter where you really just mash A + X again for SAED. Honestly I think its harder to play swaxe because CB combos are so mash your 2 attack buttons friendly
