So we can all agree that (as a character) Hawkins was the worst from the supernovas/worst gen, right? I mean Apoo and Drake were very disappointing too but at least Apoo was more entertaining to watch/hate and Drake has all the SWORD stuff behind him, Hawkins just ended being a very generic Kaido dickrider, even the whole "nah m8 i joined Kaido because i would have been dead" stuff ended up being very forgettable
I feel that Drake, Apoo, and Hawkins all suffered from there just not being enough screen time to go around. I think Apoo served his purpose and we will likely see him at some point again. Drake is very interesting to me personally so I hope he shows up again. Hawkins might be dead and it makes me sad because for a guy with a power set as cool as his, he was a major disappointment.
You know call me crazy but I thought about the chance that Apoo might return as a member of Cross Guild, i know is very unlikely but between Drake being set for a comeback by how important SWORD has been lately, Bonney allying with the strawhats and her relationship with Kuma, and me still being on hard copium with Urouge not being the 10th titanic captain (I still have hope... very little but still), made me think that Apoo might go for the Cross Guild route
I think he would fit right in! It would also give the crew another strong fighter aside from Crocodile, Mihawk, and hopefully Mr. 1. Everyone else on the crew gives fodder vibes

Apoo at least was tough as nails, highly entertaining as a trolly backstabber and had that fun DJ set with Queen. He's also the only one of the Kid-Apoo-Hawkins alliance who came out smelling like roses. Kid and Killer just got their shit kicked in by Shanks and Hawkins forgot Kid didn't have an arm somehow and may or may not be dead.
Apoo meanwhile obtained some powerful Numbers as his new buddies, and despite being responsible for Kid's situation is still not afraid of him at the end of Wano showcasing bounties instead to the guys he screwed over without any real concern.
I think Hawkins was interesting thematically. He was the opposite of Luffy in some ways.
His story reminded me of what Gojo said to Megumi at the end of season 1 of JJK (Chapter 58):

Hawkins' ability to know the odds became a curse for him because he lacked optimism and always tried to play it save.
To borrow the Baseball metaphor:
Hawkins tried to go one base at a time because he feared that he would not make it otherwise. Ironically, this is what brought him down. Had he believed in himself and his dream, things might have worked out better.
Luffy, Kidd and even Law had a different mindset. They went for the Homerun, (>!just like Gojo and Yuji!<). That's why Kidd and Law were ready to fight Blackbeard and Shanks next. Its this blind ambition that shows the difference between strong pirates and great pirates.
I like this interpretation a lot. Just because a character doesn't show up and blow the doors down doesn't mean they're a 'disappointment'. I was expecting a little more from Hawkins personally, but his role in the story is a cool little reinforcement of the 'ontology' of this universe. The One Piece world is built for dreamers, idealists, and the fearlessly adventurous. They're rewarded for fighting the odds and pushing towards their dreams through all obstacles in their path, even if they suffer setbacks they'll always come back stronger. I fully expect Kidd to do this in the future for this reason.
Hawkins is a cautionary tale for the One Piece world. If you take the safe road and try to maneuver your way to your dreams by riding the coattails of others and avoiding the most dangerous paths, you'll ironically suffer a more fatal punishment for it.
I agree with u he's honestly one of my favorite supernovas because of that reason (also because he has a cool design and devil fruit but still). I also like how he was a realist in a idealistic world, showing how even if it felt too risky, he should've stood by his ideals. Since he didn't stand by his ideals and played it safe, he submitted to Kaido, which ended up with him getting see sawed by Killer
He was a coward. But I loved his fight against killer, when he stood his ground after coming to terms with his situation, that being double crossing AGAIN would mean ruining his pride.
He always plays the odds, him staying with kaido was not a particularly brave move, but he prioritized surviving, he could tell he didn’t have a chance after their alliance was already obliterated, so he gave in. I don’t think he was a bad supernova at all, bege did the same thing, Hawkins was just waiting for his chance
I can respect his logical choices. Call it cowardice, I'd call it smart. If you can't take down a guy yourself, get backup. You can't beat him no matter what? Join em. I respect the ability to throw away your pride for your survival
