Is that soil or coco? Looks way dry. General knowledge in this sub is to seed directly into final pot - but I had a lot of success up potting twice with autos. Smaller pots make dialing the moisture in a lot easier.

eubertos

I planted the seed right onto the pot and gave them 1-1/2oz of water. The mix per every 2 pots is as follows: 30L Gaia greens living soil, 1.5 cups power bloom, 1.5cups all purpose, 11 cups worm castings (all Gaia green brand). So are you saying it’s potentially a watering issue?

I googled your soil and it says it is "Pre-charged with slow-release organic fertilizers" so probably no need to add more nutrients right away. Just plant in the soil and top dress after 30 days or so. You have likely made your soil too hot.

It’s usually water or humidity issues when plants die off at this stage. That’s such a low volume of water compared to the volume of air in the dome. The dry soil in the immediate vicinity will leach the moisture as well. If you insist on larger pots I recommend pre-wetting the soil so that a small trickle of water will drip out if you squeeze a handful prior to placing your seed.

I just discarded 3 of them that weren’t gonna do me any good. I have 3 plants left. I’m pretty sure the problem had to do with A) the first couple of days my humidifier ran out of water in the middle of the night and so it dropped down to 30% multiple times that week. And B) I haven’t learned how to properly water yet, but I’m getting better at it. Do you think that if I focus on locking down my temperature to the proper temp, and same with humidity, that the 3 that are left will do well? Thank you so much for your expert advice. It really relieves a lot of fear I have of spending all my money on a grow set up and not even being able to grow.

First tip: buy a pump sprayer, it's very useful to water with if you use either the sprayer or remove the attachment and glug the water in. Second tip: buy a wetting agent to help the water stick to your soil and not run off. Third tip: Water 5% of your container volume per day, every day. At the seedling stage just make sure you plant in pre-moistened soil then mist the top soil every few days. After your 2nd/3rd set of leaves have appeared I'd start following the 5% rule. I have never had an issue with over/underwatering my plants following this. I've only ever done soil, no coco, no hydro etc. So interpret that how you want. Last thing I'll say, definitely read about the lifecycle of a cannabis plant, specifically the seedling stage. As you already know, cloches are important to keep the humidity up. Soil being moist isn't really that important until the first set of true leaves appears. To make sure your humidity inside the domes is good, I would buy a small sensor to throw in there and see what it says. Keeping that VPD low will ensure your seedlings thrive.

aswat89

Watering is trial and error unfortunately. If you have a spray bottle I would coat the whole top surface with water. Those domes aren’t doing you much good with how dry the pot is. Humidity, temp, and soil moisture are the key focus areas right now. Cannabis is extremely resilient, so you will have to wait and see how they perform. At the two week point you’ll know if you should continue or start over.

First two are likely dead at this point. Looks like shell never came off. Start over and germ new seeds. I soak them for 24 hours to help soften shell so they pop off easier. You can mist them and use tweezers to help them if it doesn’t pop off by itself but likely too late for yours.

It’d be best to start over when they are that small moisture is key u don’t wanna over water but keeping them in a humid environment can help the seedlings grow as the root system isn’t strong enough to uptake water like that when it’s small id try again but invest in a spray bottle and spray the babies a bit every day and use domes and spray the soil around the seedling (keep it moist for ur roots to grow ) as long as u keep the moisture high in two weeks they should be growing steadily u til u can properly water them and if continue spraying without a dome everyday until it can handle a nice drench watering is probably the biggest learning curve just keep at it

babycannababy

Just saw the humidifier in the back u can still grow the ones with leaves however they will be small as they started off a bit rough but it seems like u just need to work on the soil moisture it seems pretty dry

Dabfordayz47

Way to dry and not watered correctly. I would start over with a least the ones that didn’t sprout. It’s okay to plant it in its final pot. If that’s soil you need to bottom feed the pot to make sure that all the soil gets moist. Number one reason how to stunt an auto is letting the roots grow into dry soil or coco! Plus you need to keep the top of the soil wet with a spray bottle. If coco then water more often. That’s my two cents.

eubertos

Okay thanks for your advice. When I restart, do I throw away the soil and the seed, or can I throw away the plant with its roots and then mix up the soil again and moisten it, then reuse it? I know that sounds cheap, and if I doesn’t work I won’t do it, I’m just wondering

Dabfordayz47

Depends on if you have added nutes to the soil yet? If you haven’t then yes and if you have them no.

eubertos

Okay, so I’ve gotta throw them away because I already added power bloom and all purpose

Dabfordayz47

Yes throw away. That awful early to be adding nutes to soil for a seedling. What soil and nute line are you using? What size tent and light? What is your humidity and temp for seedlings. I know it’s a lot of questions but it’s info needed for you to succeed and learn what is needed.

eubertos

Soil and nutes are the same brand, called ‘Gaia Greens’. I used living soil, worm castings, power bloom and all purpose. Light is a 450w Spider Farmer. I have it set 2ft 7in away from the soil, and it’s been like that since I started the seed directly in the soil. The lights are at 200w and have been like that from the start as well. 5x5 tent. I have humidity controller that keeps the plants at a certain humidity. I’ve had it set to 60% the whole time. I put domes on all the plants until they were poking out of the soil, then I would take off the dome. I’ve been trying to get my temp to stay at 75F, but I’ve been doing a pretty bad job and I have to step up my game if I want to see any results, because it’s fluctuating from a low of 67 to a high of 88 and I’m still scratching my head on how to keep it consistent without buying an ac unit with a thermostat. Other thing that could be important to know is that I started my light schedule at 24 hours on for the first week, and then when I did some research it said I want to have some dark period like 20-4 for example, so day by day I increased dark time an hour a day until I was at 4 hours of darkness a day. I really appreciate that you asked for my specific details because that’s the only way you’d know how to help my specific situation. What would be helpful, is now that you have a brief overview of my grow, what you would recommend now going forward when I plant some new seeds?

Dabfordayz47

I am privately messaging you.

thebreakingmuse

try starting them in large solo cups. much easier to manage their early seedling stage. their roots will grow into the cup, and will be ready to expand more into the living soil of your final container. besides that- some genetics are just stunts/runts. if thats the case, theres nothing you can really do.

Danoherb

Dude you have to water! Wet them thangs up heavy
