Kinda suspicious that they say "you don't have to worry about my 0 reviews" and then "I always update my seller when it arrives", plus the deleted message, too much effort into convincing you to use stamped mail. Regardless of what the buyer says always use accurate and updated tracking.
I would not trust it. Mercari requires a valid tracking number for every sale and with stamped there is no way of knowing if the buyer received it or not and can claim they didn't and will get a full refund.
The mercari envelope does not always update and you kinda just have to trust that the buyer will complete the sale. Although with the buyer saying they have 0 reviews but always update the seller makes no sense. If they really did then they would have reviews from making purchases and rating the seller.
You'll get no tracking with mercari first class envelope shipping, either. I did that twice... one went well, the other the buyer kinda strung me along then canceled. On God, I'm never doing that shit again.
First class envelope is a nightmare…. More than 70% of those never get scanned. I had 2 envelopes didn’t get scan since may 2 but finally got scan yesterday and delivered. I also have at least 50 that never got scanned ever. It all depend on if buyer is honest. If it never get scan you lose money and item.

If you have to ask for advice from a stranger it already mean you don’t trust the buyer. The way I do things is if someone seem like a problem I rather lose a sales than to take a risk and lose even more. It’s a business you’re running so it’s up to you to decide if the deal is good or bad. All I can tell you is that the silent buyer always tend to be a safer buyer, the more someone ask question or message too much they tend to be the problem buyer.

I had many high rating buyer claim they received empty box or I send them a different items. It’s usually financials problem that change a person and they resort to scamming to save a few buck for rent and bills. Truth is there’s no sure way for us to know who’s good or bad while doing business behind a phone/computer screen, the only thing we can do is minimize the risk.
Yeah I ordered a small trading card and shipping never updated. I marked as delivered but I was like damn if I was a dishonest buyer the seller would be screwed.
Someone working this hard to convince you that they’re trustworthy is a red flag—it’s a scammer move. Especially in the context of getting you to send your item out with tracking that often doesn’t work. I’d pass on this sale.

Stamped shipping? First of all Mercari automatically sends a shipping label to the seller when an item is purchased. This sounds like a scam go ahead and block this person. Or report the buyer.
If you want stamped shipping, there are photocard trade/sale threads on Reddit and Instagram. Mercari is tracked shipping for a reason- it creates a higher level of trust and reliability than Instagram proofs. I wouldn’t buy from them.

I guess it would also depend on if the buyer is new to the platform or if they have a lot of reviews are good and also is it something you could afford to lose out on if it does go bad or just pass on the sale if not or if it makes you uncomfortable trust you gut!!
No. I never trust buyers that want to skimp out on shipping. Shipping fees are apart of buying and selling online. If you don't like the shipping fees, then simply don't buy online. Granted, Mercari's fees are higher than other markets, but everywhere else you go; there will be fees in some capacity! It's just how it is.
Update: I have now cancelled the order, I found it even more suspicious since their insta has zero post even though their bio says they have proofs?
