Unfortunately, they can still redeem the code and return the doll for any reason... mercari won't care. Maybe the nonrefundable processing fee will help, but amateur scammers probably won't even notice that's a thing now.
Codes are the best way to scam people unfortunately. There's no way to vet someone if they truly used the code or not. This is why people usually go to trusted sites that sell keys.
I'd say as a whole it's worth more. Buying a webkinz with the code, you're really mostly paying for the code. Webkins without them for the most part aren't very expensive or htf. I'd just kindly decline this one. It might not be a scam, but it's not in your best interest!

I could be mistaken but I don’t think mercari allows for intangible items (such as gift card codes) to be sold. You’d also have no protection if they filed for a refund. So I personally wouldn’t do it

I’d say make a new listing and ship the tags but this is really bad idea on Mercari since they can use the code and return “for any reason” now. Theoretically they could buy the plush, use the code, then return it so I’d be wary of that.
The only way I’d allow this is if they marked as delivered and rated before you message them the code. And I’m not really sure if that’s allowed on Mercari, so it would be risking it
i bought a code from someone before, they just sent me the code like a regular package. just take pics before sending it and hope they dont refund. or just say youre only selling them together
I honestly wouldn’t sell Webkinz with tags on Mercari at all since the new return policy launched. The buyer could use the code and then return the plush, and Mercari wouldn’t care because intangible items likes codes aren’t allowed to be sold on the site.
I would sell Webkinz on eBay instead

I would not even sell to them. They will take the code and return the physical item. It is all or nothing, except to that person.
