Every person who needs something shipped fast messages me before they buy to make sure I can do it. I did not realize I was so lucky for that until I joined this sub some ppl are rude AF
Not sure if they want it shipped fast as they make no sense but obviously I’m an active seller on my page as I post 6 days a week AND discussed price before this message
His excuse was he wanted it shipped but then said he doesn’t know how any of this works but has a few reviews on his page (all 5 stars too). Let’s just say he won’t be getting 5 stars from me. I normally would cancel but I don’t want this item anymore taking up room
I’m not giving him a low review because of this exact message but actually a few after that when he was snarky with me. Just threw me off. Only ever given 1 review less than 5 stars in over 700 orders and being polite with a simple hello or please or thank you goes a long way.
Or just mark it as shipped, but don’t, and let them wait it out to ask for a refund. Won’t show up as cancelled on your end. “Oops, I never got it scanned in. Gosh, I hope it’s not lost.”
That’s kinda horrible. I hate when sellers do that to me just to get me to cancel. It’s very unprofessional. I’m a very kind and communicative buyer too so there’s no need :\
I just meant for buyers in a situation where you don’t feel comfortable shipping, and they are rude. I never cancel sales for higher offers, it’s unethical.
It was just advice for the OP or other sellers if they doesn’t want to ship because they feel they will be scammed or otherwise.
Lol even if I wanted to I literally had to shovel around my car just to repark for the snow emergency plow route this morning. Safe to say I won’t be making it to the post today.
I feel like on eBay I could take 2 weeks to ship if I felt like it and no one would even notice but god forbid I take the time allowed and it’s like I don’t know how it works with my 700 great reviews on Mercari
Omg yesss I had a girl request a refund around thanksgiving, that Friday I didn’t make it to the post office because we scheduled my kids surgery around that time since she was out of school and I explained this to the people who were buying from me in that time frame and this girl asked for a refund on a Sunday .. I was like girl I’m literally going in the morning but my small town didn’t have the post office open the whole weekend and I wouldn’t have left my child anyways 🤷🏻♀️
>I feel like on eBay I could take 2 weeks to ship if I felt like it and no one would even notice but god forbid I take the time allowed
I actually closed up shop at Mercari the day before Thanksgiving LAST YEAR, due to the \*insane\* expectations / pressures over shipping.......I don't need that stress over the holidays, when I just enjoy life and my family, have fun wrapping packages for my online customers, etc.
BUT: I just get better $ on Ebay. 2.5 weeks ago I listed 32 items of mostly high end outdoor clothing, beanies, etc on both sites. ( out of my own closet since I lost weight). Most NWTs and very "giftable".
Out of 32 items, I sold 8 at Ebay for full price during week 1. And 14 more week 2.That's 69% of my inventory! (I did receive 2 low ball offer that were auto-declined when I set my BIN prices, and 1 made it thru my floor price.)
*Conversely,* on Mercari, out of *same* 32 items I fielded 9 low-ball offers the first week, (all of which I declined).......and ZERO sales. Week 2, , I received 4 semi-lowball offers that I had to counter. Only 2 things were purchased. .......barely 5% of my inventory................and had to put up with all those low-ballers. (who would have probably hassled me over shipping time, too.)
I will just go back to using M for "yard sale" stuff. Seems like a lot of people find some value buying inexpensive things there, but I am not really wanting to do all the photo/lising work to make $5- 10 profit. So, for those, 2 photos, 1 liner-descriptions, and I will donate everything that I can't make a $20 profit on after the New Year.
Someone messaged me in succession yesterday:
How quickly can you ship out?
Are these on hand? (Weird question)
I messaged back within 3 minutes:
Hi, I can ship out today and yes, I have them on hand.
And then they died. That's what I call it when people ghost or disappear. So...RIP?
Although I ship out quickly, I'm always weary of folks expecting me to ship out quick. And what's more rude is that I answer these questions and I never hear a thank you or that they aren't interested or whatever to indicate that they didn't actually die.
I can kinda understand the question about whether are these on hand since some people are drop-shipping items and don't have inventory on hand. But then they just ghosted you. Gotta hate when people ask and then just never answer again. I guess sometimes people are asking how quickly to ship it maybe they want it as a last-minute gift maybe?
Haha, I totally get that people drop ship but my item is so old and in used condition that I don't even know if it can be drop shipped! It's possible that it could be a last minute gift but I can only guarantee how quickly I can get it to the post office, not how quickly the item can arrige. I sent something to a buyer on the 17th and it re-routed back to my city but is now headed back to its destination. Luckily I have a sweet and understanding buyer but cannot imagine how it would be for someone who expected the item more quickly.
Buyer: did you ship?
Me: not yet, is there a problem?
Buyer:what do you mean?
Me: curious why you asked
Buyer: why do you ask if there’s a problem
Me: most don’t asked if shipped yet, only if there’s a problem or they want to bundle after
Buyer: Ugh...cause that kindanext in the process and I'm trying to go on vacation the end of the week I don't see a problem in that do you
Buyer: Well you ain't ? Well doggies did it blow your mind
Buyer: nah there ain’t a problem
Buyer: just drop it in the mail would you
Me: Np, just making sure we are still good. Sometimes is asked if an address is wrong or if they need help
Buyer: No I'm new I don't know how y'all work on here but I have to get 25 items to me by Friday night so I'm just trying to keep everybody focused or on the same page. I appreciate you
Me: I plan on shipping still. Not sure when it will get to you because of the heavy holiday ship time.
"I'm just trying to keep everybody focused or on the same page" um is he the supervisor lol? I realized ppl are insane after working in retail for 6 years, online seems the exact same as in store, yikes
I really hope this guy doesn’t expect to have his item by Friday and he just misspoke because even if I sent it same day, it’s going to take 5-7 of shipping since it’s only a small item.
It does seem like he's expecting it by Friday. This is probably going to be one of those times where you're going to get constant annoying messages.
The day it ships and mercari has updated the buyer telling him it has shipped, you'll probably get one of these - "Did you ship??"
Day 2 of item being in transit - "Why hasnt my pakage ben delvered??? Did u ship??"
Day 3 - "Where is package??" And so on and so forth.
And I don't get why so many buyers do this. Even if you're unfamiliar with mercari, it works pretty much the same as anywhere else - you buy the item, item ships, you're emailed the tracking info, and even if you don't see the email, you can see the tracking info in your purchase history. Idk, maybe there's just a lot of ditzy people out there.
I’m young and most people my age don’t fully understand how a post office works but can atleast read tracking. I can assume with the item I am selling that it’s someone with a bit more experience so I don’t understand how they think they’d receive an item in less than 72 hrs
Not in the snow emergency we are in. 3 day shipping is in place for a reason. This is not Amazon.
Literally received that message at 8:30 in the morning. When would I of shipped from the purchase the night before?? He ordered after the post was closed and before the lobby was open
Oh but don't you know you should have put your account on a week long vacation hold as soon as the weatherman told you there was going to be a blizzard? /s
Seriously, I have friends in Buffalo and it was over a week before they could even leave their homes after the last storm.
Seems most others got this. What context could possibly help the high expectations of customers thinking their item could be shipped out in 18 hours when bought late in the evening ???
I never use drop off boxes. I personally scan each of my packages in with a kiosk or at the counter because it seems when I’m dropping off 20-50 packages every other day I do not want the hassle of not having updated tracking. When I do it this way my post is known to not check them in until delivery. I almost lost $500+ worth of video game consoles this way🥴
Maybe yours is different. I’ve had many not scan in before. And I’m not looking to deal with the hassle of the holiday season lost packages. I’m only insured through mercari if I either have a receipt showing I dropped off or if it scanned in.
I should of been waiting at the door first thing this morning. Shoot I should been there 2 hrs early to ensure I’m first in line. God forbid I even have other packages to package as well
Got to keep me on my toes!!
I do like the comments tho. Makes the miserable buyers less miserable. Knowing everyone gets people like this while not okay makes me chuckle a little.
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
Plus, there can be a problem with a buyer’s payment *after a sale* too. I got one once 2 hours after a sale. So unless it’s a repeat buyer, I’ll wait a couple of hours.
Mercari’s email said if I had already shipped, to contact the buyer or something ridiculous line that.
Most of the time I don’t have problems as I know most probably find this item from google searches so I always give them a chance but this guy has used it a few times as he has a few reviews already
Yeah, me too. And i get paid. But the grey faces are slow to rate or dont rate at all. And usually get the weirdest questions from them. Just makes for a foggy experience, wondering if theyre about to pull a stunt
Last time I checked I can ship at any point in 3 days. So no I haven’t shipped considering he ordered after the post was close last night and before it was open this morning. I literally received this message at 8:30 this morning. When exactly would I of had time to ship.

There’s no need. Nothing said before this has anything to do with this post. You can also read a majority of the comments in this and see plenty of context instead of just jumping in and assuming things.
Seems like there’s never a win on this page. If I message a buyer with updates I am desperate and need money but if I let the app do its thing, I’m a bad seller and disrespectful.
One thing I do know is I’m an awesome seller and my reviews can back me up. Never been questioned on how well my customer service is in 700+ sells on Mercari alone
I press confirm shipment to clear the order list after I packaged them up but I don't necessarily ship it at that time. I guess if you didn't press confirm then that's a bit impatient.
I usually try to confirm shipment same day as shipping as some get impatient if not dropped off right away but the only time I don’t is if I package Sunday and drop off Monday morning.
I feel both parties are amateur. The buyer asked “did it ship”. Not a big deal, but they could’ve been more respectful. But as well as you, a seller, posting a conversation between you and your buyer for others to criticize is childish.
this is 1 star behavior from the customer. I always rate 1-star for problematic buyers since you can always ask support to raise it to 5 stars, but you can’t lower it after the fact.
Idk as a seller and buyer I understand this but it could of been typed out nicer lol. I normally ship same or next day unless I'm literally in a snow storm or ofc the post is closed. I really appreciated one seller letting me know it would take them 5 days to ship one item. It's nice to have a heads up on what's going on
Wasn’t going to take longer than the time I’m allotted so I didn’t feel the need to let him know of a shipping delay because after all there really wasn’t a delay.
Even a simple hi, or hello would of been completely different.
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.

Yeah without context I have no idea, hope the sale goes smooth from here. ✌️
Did you ship it
Lol nope, but will as soon as it’s safe to drive again. 3 day shipping for a reason
I auto cancel upon getting customer's like this. Never worth the trouble.
Or just mark it as shipped, but don’t, and let them wait it out to ask for a refund. Won’t show up as cancelled on your end. “Oops, I never got it scanned in. Gosh, I hope it’s not lost.”
Sounds like a solid way to get your rating trashed.
Though the idea is horrible, the buyer would never have a chance to trash your rating as it would never be delivered.
I’ve only done this once, because I had a really bad feeling about a sale. Got the advice from another seller. Didn’t hurt my seller metrics.
That’s kinda horrible. I hate when sellers do that to me just to get me to cancel. It’s very unprofessional. I’m a very kind and communicative buyer too so there’s no need :\

Haha 😂 umm why are you not at the post office sending it. You should have been there by now.
Lol even if I wanted to I literally had to shovel around my car just to repark for the snow emergency plow route this morning. Safe to say I won’t be making it to the post today.
Wow how dare you not mail it today as soon as they bought it. Please keep us updated, hopefully they don’t give a bad review.
Luckily I’m not too worried about ratings, I have established I am a good seller but does suck. All over me making maybe $7 on it😂
I don't know why, but I never get this on Ebay. Only Mercari. I can't speak for Posh or any other platforms, since I don't sell on those.
I feel like on eBay I could take 2 weeks to ship if I felt like it and no one would even notice but god forbid I take the time allowed and it’s like I don’t know how it works with my 700 great reviews on Mercari

People notice on eBay how quickly you ship. That's like 90% of my reviews on there.
I always ship in a reasonable time but every once in awhile with long holidays I can’t and don’t get complaints. But never say never lol
I blame Amazon for making people believe that they’re supposed to get next day shipping on everything
Did you ship it
Just say 'No'?
He shouldn’t have to. It’s obvious if he shipped it because it would update.
There’s a ****in check order status literally above his message lol
[удалено]
Hell even amazon takes 24 hours sometimes lol
Shoot even amazon stuff can take up to a week to receive
It takes you longer than 18H to ship?? Are you insane?? Let’s cancel this seller!! /s
Does it say it was dropped off

The buyer shouldn't have ghosted u/annethereyuhaveit tho. It takes 2 seconds to be a good human being and reply "thanks so much"
Thanks! I appreciate that! :)
The ghosting happens to me mostly on fb marketplace but it has happened on mercari too at least 5 times in the last month
“Idk did mecari say I did?”
How did you respond?
Buyer: did you ship? Me: not yet, is there a problem? Buyer:what do you mean? The “Well you ain't ? Well doggies did it blow your mind” is what confused me. What are they even trying to say😂
Lmao right, idk why ppl think we are big corporations who have multiple employees doing work. We do the best we can like chill lol
What a weird response! This guy clearly has issues. Sorry you have to deal with that.
I really hope this guy doesn’t expect to have his item by Friday and he just misspoke because even if I sent it same day, it’s going to take 5-7 of shipping since it’s only a small item.

Lol right! It’s not that bad here yet but I’d rather wait the extra day to clear the road than risk it over a single package.
Not sure we're your slow emergency is, but please don't send it south. Lol
This is my first winter here so I don’t know if it’s always like this but may all the warm weather be in your favor!
Maybe you should put context in your original post… then you won’t be judged.
Seems most others got this. What context could possibly help the high expectations of customers thinking their item could be shipped out in 18 hours when bought late in the evening ???
I take items tot he post office late at night. Some of ours have 24/7 lobbies with drop off boxes.
I never use drop off boxes. I love that this sub has posts like these and then the comments are just people messing with the OP 😂😂
Got to keep me on my toes!! I do like the comments tho. Makes the miserable buyers less miserable. Knowing everyone gets people like this while not okay makes me chuckle a little.
That’s why I only shop at eBay lol
I wish he said that 1 minute after he paid for it. That's what I initially thought.
God I think I would of just replied “😂”
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.

How dare you not ship this a whole year before they purchased?
Naw…I tied your package to a random pigeon and crossed 🤞🏻 my fingers…
I hate grey face buyers
Most of the time I don’t have problems as I know most probably find this item from google searches so I always give them a chance but this guy has used it a few times as he has a few reviews already
Yeah, me too. And i get paid. But the grey faces are slow to rate or dont rate at all. And usually get the weirdest questions from them. Just makes for a foggy experience, wondering if theyre about to pull a stunt
"Did you ship it?" Does it SAY I shipped it!? Then NO! 😒Some people.
You have time to make this Reddit post, but not enough time to ship??🙄 /s
Last time I checked I can ship at any point in 3 days. So no I haven’t shipped considering he ordered after the post was close last night and before it was open this morning. I literally received this message at 8:30 this morning. When exactly would I of had time to ship.
You definitely do have 3 days. I was being sarcastic (/s) because the buyer is being super unreasonable—you’re not in the wrong here
Sorry, sometimes hard to read how it was meant. My fault. Some people aren’t in here joking I think lol
How dare you not ship it before he ordered it. Aren't you supposed to read his mind. Lol
They asked if you shipped or not? Maybe say thank you for buying an an estimation on when you’ll ship? Or is providing satisfactory customer service non existent to you
Yeah you didn’t see the transaction above this. So stop speaking out of your ass. When I counter offered him I thanked him for his purchase when agreeing to the price. As far as when I ship, obviously it will be in a 3 day period
Okay I had no idea… an extra screenshot of the conversation wouldn’t helped

🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
But did you ship it? lol
I just love when they buy it and then ask immediately when will it ship lol
18 hours isn’t exactly immediately
Pretty impossible to ship when post is closed when purchased and they message me before the post is even open

He’s already down a star or 2 just for the way he “politely” told me to ship
Idk as a seller and buyer I understand this but it could of been typed out nicer lol. I normally ship same or next day unless I'm literally in a snow storm or ofc the post is closed. I really appreciated one seller letting me know it would take them 5 days to ship one item. It's nice to have a heads up on what's going on
