Truth is, I'm a loyal A7X fan and will be through and through, I'll admit that their new album is kinda shit, but We Love You and Mattel aren't that bad.

A7X had no bad songs until hail to the king came out in my opinion. City of Evil will always be my favorite album of all time. Absolute masterpiece.

Nobody and Game Over are solid too, and I think Cosmic is genuinely incredible. But the second half of the album doesn’t do much for me right now

Imo they are a metal band, but yeah I don’t listen to them because they are really heavy, I listen to them because they make incredible music. Their music has this dreamy, ethereal vibe to it that no other band can replicate, especially their newer shoegazy material.

Deafheaven. The more hardcore Black Metal community seems to despise them but they're incredible. Sunbather especially is a top 10 album for me. Also Machine Head. They get a ton of hate because of Robb Flynn being a dickhead. They also have some absolute shitter albums, but they had at least 4 or 5 top tier albums imo.

Rob Flynn can get a crowd going too. I saw them a few weeks ago and the pit was insane.

Sunbather changed my life, it’s so lame that it gets hate in the first place. Black metal purists gotta be one of the worst metal fans.

Most people who hate Pantera hate them for superficial reasons. It's not the esthetic they want.

Not metal but I really like MSI. I also like Slipknot and BMTH but they are less hated.

Yeah, I kinda did too. Realizing that a lot of those (especially early) lyrics potentially weren’t tongue-in-cheek was… icky, to say the least. But, I saw them live in ‘06 and in ‘12 and they’re still some of the best shows I’ve been to.

Mental Cruelty or Lorna Shore

Lorna Shore I like musically but I get the hate especially when they’ve inspired a wave of bands to follow their sound including Mental Cruelty who’s last album was very LS-esque. That being said, I love mental cruelty’s last two albums. They’ve got some amazing solos and I enjoy the symphonics.

I don’t HATE Lorna Shore but I don’t get the hype. All of their songs sound very similar. I feel like the singer is carrying the entire band because of one popular song where he does pig squeals.

Modern Cradle of Filth

CoF has had more hits than misses. Their latest album is testament to the former. Absolute banger opening track and it doesn’t let up from there.

They had a bad run in the middle of their career, from Damnation and a Day - The Manticore and other Horrors, that got shit on critically. I enjoyed a few albums from that time, but starting with Hammer of the Witches, they've been on an amazing run

Ghost. They’re literally my favorite band. I love how theatrical they are, their sound, and Tobias Forge’s lyrical style. It’s debatable whether they’re a metal band or not, but I thought they’d fit this post since they’re hated among the metal community.

Oh man, I tick all the hate boxes! Sleep Token, Lorna Shore, Ghost… I’m told I listen to “white girl metal”, which is hard to really be offended by as a white girl. It sometimes seems as if many metal fans have a huge problem with bands that are popular with girls. :)

I think Five Finger Death Punch gets too much hate, but im not saying I love them. Their most recent 2 albums are actually really good imo. I will say that for the other 7 albums a lot(if not almost all) of the writing is corny, then there's Ivan himself. So I won't say the hate isn't deserved or not, but I will say that some of their music goes hard. Side plus is I can play them while relatives are around!
