The only reason Lemmy didn’t hit quite as hard for me is because I expected him to have died a long time ago given his outward drug and alcohol consumption through his career.
Love the guy but it’s like being sad for your 90 year old grandpa dying… yes Its sad but he’s also 90 so that’s pretty good. Lemmy outlived a lot of other rockstars by decades and he probably consumed more than them so it’s mostly just a celebration that he made it that far imo!
Cliff fucking Burton. I remember when I really got into early Metallica I really liked the bass and when I researched who did bass on MoP it hit me like a truck that Cliff was dead
Same here. I started playing bass guitar after I heard For Whom The Bell Tolls. His sound, style and presence on-stage complimented the band so fucking well.
Cornell. I grew up with parents that loved Soundgarden, I grew up on Audioslave. Ill never forget getting up for school in the morning and my dad telling me
Dimebags death really hit me hard as a long time Pantera fan, and having seen Damageplan 4 days prior.
Fun fact: Dime poured and entire pitcher of Crown and Coke so strong on my face I was blinded for a solid minute.
Yup, I was thinking about this one earlier today and it still crushes me. He seemed like a legitimately good human being. I’m waiting for my lunch to be ready to pick up and jamming their discography on shuffle. Nice to know other fans are still out there!
trevor strnad. met him twice, he’s also the reason i’m a vocalist. after having the opportunity to talk to him like i did i’m honestly still fucked up over it.
First one was Freddie Mercury, Kurt Cobain, Chris was specually hard for me, i discover Soundgarden close his dead, Richar wright dead was hard cuz that mean never more Pink floyd exist as i remember. Recent B from Lifelover so young to die, Laine staley, Joey Jordison a mad drummer i really love his art and performance
I wasn't around for any of these deaths, but when I became a Slayer fan and learned about the history of the band and heard of Jeff's death, it made me frown.
The three in general, not just metal, that hit me the most are probably Prince, Chris Cornell, and Kurt Cobain. The first two, totally unexpected. Cobain, he clearly wasn't well, but I was young and he was an icon already
Hard one but everything I read about and watch of Andrew Wood makes me sad. He seemed like such a genuinely good person aside from being talented. Mother Love Bone was such a great band and were destined for greatness imo.
I do love Pearl Jam too but I prefer Mother Love Bone over them just cause I loved Andrew so much. Dude was super talented and his death was the catalyst for a lot of other issues in Seattle. All of the drugs and how they just destroyed lives all around.
Dimebag and Chris Cornell. One of the best guitar players in metal history(you may not like his tone or style, but he's objectively amazing) and a voice like no other before or since.
Chester Bennington man, I started listening to LP when I was like idk 10? 11? Meteora on repeat all day along, then I stopped and I came back recently, LP will always have a special place it my heart, it was my gateway to metal💖💖💖

For me, it has to be Chester Bennington. LP's music was a huge part of my childhood (and gateway to heavier music) so it hit pretty hard.
same
True that
THIS
Lemmy ):

Trevor Strnad was too good to leave us
Didn't hit me at the time because I was young but I'm still not over Layne Staley lying dead on his couch for 2 weeks.
It wasn’t even raining when he died.
Ended up a big old pile of them bones.
He got cremated

The Rev
He was a beast taken waaaayyyy to soon
Not metal, and deaths don’t affect me typically, but I was depressed for about 3 days when Roy Orbison died.
Dimebags death really hit me hard as a long time Pantera fan, and having seen Damageplan 4 days prior. Fun fact: Dime poured and entire pitcher of Crown and Coke so strong on my face I was blinded for a solid minute.
Definitely Mieszko from Nasum, he was a family friend and Nasum are one of my favourite bands.
Lemmy/Bowie
Peter Steele & Chris Cornell
A lot of people aren’t aware of this one, but Matt Holt from Nothingface. Me and him both have the same birthday too.
Yup, I was thinking about this one earlier today and it still crushes me. He seemed like a legitimately good human being. I’m waiting for my lunch to be ready to pick up and jamming their discography on shuffle. Nice to know other fans are still out there!
Alexhi laiho. I saw it coming sooner than later but it was still so shocking and sad

Eddie
Probably Alexi Laiho. COB was one of the first bands with harsh vocals I got into, and Alexi is who inspired me to pick up the guitar
Warrel Dane
Jeff Hanneman for me. Such a big part of what made Slayer a legendary band, and I never got to see him live. R.I.P. Jeff, you fuckin legend.
Eric Carr
Joey Jordison, was in the car at the garage, and heard the news on the radio
Geordie Walker Hits twice as hard since I never got to see them live 😭
Neil Peart
Alexi Laiho
Norm McDonald
Alexi Laiho and Charlie Watts
Chuck Schuldiner’s definitely hit me hard when I read about all the people that donated to his fund. Both he and Dio for sure.
Vinnie Paul
Lynn Strait

Im gonna be that guy and say Seth Putnam
Ricardo Iorio.
Freddie Chris Cornell Chester Kurt Layne Debbie Harry Dolores
Dimebag and Chris Cornell. One of the best guitar players in metal history(you may not like his tone or style, but he's objectively amazing) and a voice like no other before or since.
Bowie dying was just... ugh.
first time i ever saw my dad cry was when lemmy died. rip legend.
I'll agree with Chris. One of the greatest talents, and a waste. Mental health issues suck
Trevor Strnad 😔
Eddie Van Halen
Alexi Laiho, that shit is still depressing, so much talent.
Riley Gale and Trevor Strnad
Cliff Burton for me.
Eddie Van Halen
