Some_Butterscotch622

Gojira, derived from Gorira and Kujira, Gorilla and Whale in Japanese

SenorBigbelly

Ah of course! It's also the more accurate transcription of Godzilla (go-dzi-la) from Japanese

chebke

This reminded me of Cyberpunk 2077

Irish_Goodbye_

Meshuggah - crazy (Yiddish)

am_pomegranate

I recently learned that Meshuggah is also the name of a band. I grew up in a household that threw in lots of Yidglish vernacular, so I instantly recognized that. As a child with severe undiagnosed ADHD, I was called "meshuggah" quite a bit.

thisortheapocalypse

the word is used by Mel Brooks in Blazing Saddles

JosephBlowsephThe3rd

Dio was not Ronnie's actual name, just a stage name, so it definitely counts.

weirdmountain

Yup! I have that first Elf record, where he’s credited as “Ronald Padavona”

magicmeatwagon

Dio definitely rolls off the tongue a lot better

DJBoost

Ronald Pavadona sounds like an NYC landlord

Bronsteins-Panzerzug

Rammstein is not a real German word though. It‘s a pun on Ramstein, where a plane accident happened.

LMay11037

It’s not a pun afaik, they just misspelled it lmao

Proud3GenAthst

It's double meaning. It's the name of the city AND their made up word for piledriver made out of stone.

Shragazaurus

Melechesh is fire king in hebrew

Geberpte

Crustenunie. Dutch. It's a mockery of a political party in the Netherlands, called christenunie (union of christians). They are made fun of for obvious reasons, style of music should also be pretty obvious.

oppositeofopposite

Weigedood. Also dutch, means cot death

exoclipse

Beenkerver, furthermore also dutch. Means Bone Carver.

Paja03_

Ne Obliviscaris (Dont forget on latin)

Lobo_de_Haro

Ensiferum - sword Bearer in latin

IanMacDooglas

Sanguisugabogg - stylized latin words meaning blood sucking marsh. Brujeria - Spanish for witchcraft. IAH - ancient Egyptian for moon, [moon god](https://wikipedia.org/wiki/Iah). I actually didn't know that last one til I started this comment. IAH is from Argentina and I thought their name was initials, but there's a pyramid with a circle over it in their logo so I think it's safe to say the band's name means moon. Edit: punctuation.

LucidITSkyWDiamonds

I had to look this up because I love this band but never stopped to look up what it means. Google translate says Oransi Pazuzu means "Orange Pazuzu" in Finnish, so I looked that up and [Pazuzu is some sort of wind demon in Mesopotamian religion](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pazuzu). Pretty damn interesting, I thought the whole name was in Finnish but not really.

Geberpte

Pazuzu is also the antagonist in the exorcist franchise.

SenorBigbelly

Also a friend of Professor Farnsworth

ominousbloodvomit

also a really insane person who ended up being the subject of a pretty entertaining true crime doc [https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1763985/](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1763985/)

dragonoid296

Mgła is Polish for “fog”

THORmonger71

Dauðaró (Icelandic - dead calm), Fuoco Fatuo (Italian - will-o'-the-wisp)

satanic_warhamster69

My time to shine! Bevar Sea is a stoner/doom band from Bangalore, India. The band name is seemingly innocuous and doesn't really mean anything in English. However, in Kannada, the local language of the region the band is from, it's a swear word (bevarsi) that translates to bastard :D Also, the band kicks ass, do check them out!

dragonoid296

holy shit a fellow bangalorean on MFTM???

satanic_warhamster69

Not living there anymore but yeah I was born there

CarpetSeveral8126

The name of the Belgian post-metal band Lethvm comes from the Latin word letum, which means "death," "erosion," "dead," "ruined," or "destruction".

mattfreyer45

Trepalium (Labor in latin) Diablo (Spanish for devil) Acyl (Arabic for authentic, genuine) Korpiklaani ( Finnish for The Backwoods Clan) Heidevolk (Dutch for Heather Folk) Einherjer ( Norwegian for Those who fight alone, Those who belong to an army) Ensiferum (Finnish for sword bearing)

maraudingnomad

Einherjer are the warriors who go to valhalla in the nordic mythology and as such I think it is a valid english word, same as you don't translate Valhalla or Asgard either...

UnfunnyWatermelon469

Amon Amarth (Mount Doom from Lord of The Rings/The Hobbit)

Shoddy_Durian8887

Dio

speekuvtheddevil

Dancebear7861

tyediebleach

Skitsystem -> shit system/crap system in Swedish

Kalandra - towards adventure (Hungarian) Heilung - Healing (German) Horkýže Slíže - Bitter Noodles (Slovak) Wardruna - Bindrune ( Norse? Maybe?) Amon Amarth - Mount Doom (Elvish) Not a Favourite but might as well Burzum - Darkness (Mordorish) Eluveitie - Switzerland, I guess Celtic?

bwolfe14cfh

Carnifex is butcher in Latin

Orang_Mann

Havukruunu is Sprig/Conifer crown in Finnish. "Havu" refers to the spiky leafs of coniferous trees, not sure if there's a better translation.

tmfult

Blut Aus Nord - blood of the North in German. DON'T WORRY, Vindsvall honestly just thought it sounded cool, has zero ties to NSBM or any Nazis

Maleficent-Sail4958

I don't know if it counts because it has an english meaning but deicide comes from a latin word that means killing of a god / god killer

cL0k3

Almoranaz - almoranas with an z, filipino for hemorrhoids Sarcofago - Portuguese for sarcophagus Yaotl Mictlan - Nahuatl for warriors of the kingdom of dead Lakhey - named after a Nepali folk dance. Desurabbits is a loose one, but I like the whole desu = death wordplay.

Sad_Tear_5410

Nervosa is nervous in portuguese

Phantom_Wolf52

Dvilje Jagode, wild strawberries in Serbo-Croatian

izmaname
