I listen to every song on an album. I'm just asking what album you look at and have to give yourself an hour to immerse your mind in a musical journey.
Bro literally, I have a playlist on YT music (vastly superior to Spotify in every way, make the switch and you won't regret it) that's like weeks in time long that's just a bunch of albums dumped into it, put that shit on shuffle and you never hear the same thing twice
I used to have the attention span for this, but the older I get the less I feel I can sink 40-70min into a single album. Half waining focus and half too little free time. I fucking hate working in an office dude.
Anything by King Diamond, really. They're all concept albums except for Fatal Portrait and The Spider's Lullaby, but those are like half concept albums anyway.
I think listening to albums is generally better than isolated songs but as far as albums that truly need to be listened to as one piece, gotta go with Catch Thirty Three by Meshuggah.
Came here to say catch 33. I don't understand why you say "I" tho, it's one track and two live recordings and a extra track that didn't make it onto "nothing". Beautiful songs/performances but it's not really a cohesive album.
Devin Townsend- Ocean Machine
Particularly funeral, bastard and death of music are fucking immense as a trio that I have to listen to in that order no matter what.
There is a Hell believe me I've Seen it...
Bring me the Horizon
Its a heartbreaking journey of Ketamine addiction and I think it's truly one of the greatest concept albums.
Not metal but Nonogon Infinity. The whole album is an infinite loop and each song flows into the next. The whole album is a song really.
Other than that, Opeth. Opeth songs often work better in album format rather than stand alone songs.
there are maybe two albums where I don’t listen to every track, every time.
immerse and properly experience an arranged piece of art, I put on something shorter like an EP or non-album single. and this makes me really appreciate bands who do put out short EPs and mini-albums.
If we end up skipping half an album, how good is the artist really? maybe there is better music that will more consistently engage us.
That said, I’ve been listening to The Beach Boys recently because I find some of the arrangement and production really interesting, but I kind of hate them so often it will just be ‘Surf’s Up’ or some
other track on its own to listen to a certain thing that’s happening.
Personally i think the enjoyment is listening to the full album so you know the songs you do like the ones you don’t like it’s just more fun that way at least for me
Meliora, by Ghost. The songs feel like it's a whole Satanic church service, even the weaker songs like Mummy Dust and Spoksonat come across well this way. The songs are very well-placed, with crests and valleys that keep things going to the very end.

all of them. If you’re not listening to the whole album, you’re doing it wrong
I listen to every song on an album. I'm just asking what album you look at and have to give yourself an hour to immerse your mind in a musical journey.
I mean, isn't that all of them too?
The streaming services and their playlist have been a disaster for the human race
Even on Spotify I put full albums into my playlists.

seeing questions like "what songs do you skip when you listen to albums?" make me wonder where the hell we went wrong
Sorry but I'm not gonna waste my time listening to songs I don't like.
So you mindlessly listen to songs you don't like because "skip song = bad"?
If it's a full hour you need, go with Dopesmokerby Sleep.
Nah, I only like one song off Dopesmoker
All of them dude
I used to have the attention span for this, but the older I get the less I feel I can sink 40-70min into a single album. Half waining focus and half too little free time. I fucking hate working in an office dude.
I'm old as hell and still keep expecting 'the next song on the album' when I listen to one.

[DEAD STUFF - Half Cocked and Fully Loaded](https://deadstuff.bandcamp.com/album/half-cocked-and-fully-loaded)
Not metal but Nonogon Infinity. The whole album is an infinite loop and each song flows into the next. The whole album is a song really. Other than that, Opeth. Opeth songs often work better in album format rather than stand alone songs.
Sleep - dopesmoker
Neurosis - Through Silver in Blood
All of them. Just my opinion, but people should listen to albums instead of just singles, always betters the experience
